Last season the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) saw something of a gold rush in the budget bracket. The fast bucks ostentatiously displayed by early investors in the likes of Andy Carroll and Charlie Adam drew a torrent of fortune seekers in their wake, and a thriving seat of industry sprang up in the land of cut-price plenty.

A town in decline for much of this season, less prodigious yields from the newly promoted hopefuls turned many Fantasy managers away to more upmarket territory, but the resurgence of the budget performer in recent weeks is tempting hardy prospectors back to this unfashionable seam. From old favourites like Kevin Doyle to new men such as James McClean, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Grant Holt, the points are again flowing in the budget belt.

Here at The Scout we’ve got an eye on a budding cut-price acolyte of the Arsene Wenger academy, Bolton loanee Ryo Miyaichi. Signing for Arsenal after an impressive trial last winter, Miyaichi was immediately sent on loan to Feyenoord for the remainder of the season. Nicknamed “Ryodinho” by the Dutch media he was quick to make his mark in the Eredivisie, grabbing three goals and five assists in his twelve matches.

Featuring in the Gunners’ pre-season tour but subsequently destitute of competitive opportunities, Miyaichi was sent in January – like Jack Wilshere before him- to learn the Premier League ropes at Bolton. Scoring just four minutes into his full debut against Millwall in the FA Cup, he retained his starting berth wide left against Chelsea in the league the following weekend, emerging from that game streets ahead of the rest of the Bolton midfield across the board in our members’ OPTA data.

Named “Player of the Month” for February by the Bolton faithful on the basis of just one league start, and drawing gushing praise from Owen Coyle, Miyaichi’s place in the side looks secure, and his attacking potential could be given free reign over a run of fixtures that are the envy of his cut-price contemporaries (QPR avl BLA wol FUL).

Currently priced at a paltry 4.9, and with only 0.2% ownership, it likely that Miayaichi will not be flying under the radar for long. The rush for late-season differential gold is well under way, and prospecting is a notoriously tricky business. With price, fixtures and form aligning, however, the temporary Trotter could yield rich reward for those managers willing to invest in his Fantasy fortunes.

so this is a continuation of a post from last page, but currently i am on rvp(c) and rooney(vc). the reason behind this is that man utd are playing wba who kept a cs against chelsea (although i understand that isn't the most difficult feat to accomplish right now), and wba will be playing with confidence. arsenal on the otherhand, are playing newcastle who seem to have a hard time keeping cs, and we all know how many goals there can be between these two sides. what do you think?

I have those two also but it's always best to captain the best player on that night. For example I captained Alves over Messi last week and missed out on his goal and assist, in the end I got Gomez(C) who only scored two. So captain Messi.

Three Arsenal players is not overkill when they've scored 16 goals in four matches. You have a better chance at picking a goal scorer/assister on Arsenal than say a Man U or Chelsea.

No Alexis tonight for Barca so only two strikers named in the team. And all three of Xavi, Iniesta and Xavi are named causing a midfield pile-up! How do you reckon they'll line up?

Difficult to predict where Messi will be - normally he would always play in the hole, nominally as the center forward. But missing a striker, with Fabregas in and Iniesta and Xavi definitely confined to midfield you'd wonder if he'll play the old winger role he used to play?

    ...... Messi...........Pedro
    ................Fabregas
    .........Iniesta........Xavi
    ..............Busquets
    Adriano Pique Mascherano Alves

Interesting you suggest that because that's what I thought at first, but I just doubted Pedro could be used as a lone CF, he always seems to be used on the wings. It would be a bit like using Sturridge or Walcott as a lone CF.

Also it would be very difficult to play a 4-1-4-1 and put the midfielders in their favoured positions - there'd be no natural wingers in that midfield (apart from possibly Messi and he needs to play in the hole)

There are no DGWs scheduled (provided Man City v Chelsea is rescheduled to midweek which like the rest of the fixture it almost certainly will be).

GW31 seems to be a week some people are leaving it til. But it all depends on what you want to do

wel i was thinking of using it in the gw after this, because i can get in suarez and drenthe as the double gw coverage but then use wildcard because i will know other team`s situations and differntials

I'd probably wait then if you can put out a squad you're satisfied with this DGW - you can keep the WC as an insurance policy against a horrible week when lots of players are injured before the deadline

This is what I'm considering...I think that it might well be. Rooney has nicer fixtures over the next 5 or so weeks and is undoubtedly Man Utd's number 1 forward. Aguero may be liable to rotation/less game time with Balotelli, Dzeko and now Tevez all battling for position.

Yeah it looks sloppy and lazy playing CDM's at the back. It's fine for a makeshift game or 2 but when Puyol picks up alot of injuries and Pique's lost his mind from banging Shakira too much they really need to address that any shore up the back again. Even at their attacking peak under Guardiola they were also solid at the back.

Bad enough to have only kept 3 CS in the last 15 matches. Or to lose 3-2 @ Osasuna a few weeks ago when that win would have kept them in the chase behind Real.

Yep good defending is all about understanding and that is all about naming the same stable defence each week.

I think Barca are okay with it because Busquets is so untouchable at CDM that Mascherano doesn't have much else to do except be a backup CB. Strange one.

Agreed. I think the irony is the guy Real have (Varane) would be perfect for Barca but that's never going to happen now. Very, very good on the ball and would help them overload their opponents when they park the bus.

If Vidic was younger he would be a replacement made in heaven for Puyol

Not seen much of Varane. Sounds like he would suit Barca but like you say crossing the divide is unlikely. Yeah it's a shame that Vidic matured a bit later otherwise he could have got a move to La Liga.

Nah Busquets is clearly touchable, look how often he gets brutally attacked by opponents - or at least I assume he does as he spends so much time rolling around in agony on the floor.

That said Busquets definitely fits better with the pass and move DM rather than the traditional destroyer which is Masch's strength.

That's exactly what I mean, Busquets IS Barca as we know it. He is an unshakable part of their system IMO, the same way Messi and Xavi are. The link between defence and attack the way Mascherano couldn't be...

The young players need to have a bit of patience. Fergie knows what he's doing, I don't want to see us blackmailed into playing youngsters that aren't good enough yet, just so they don't leave.

And if they were already good enough, they'd be in the team.
