Have Robin Van Persie and Wayne Rooney made this Fantasy football lark look easy? Get the pair in, alternate the armband and watch the points flow. Simples.

Even if it really is that straightforward, there’s still a role for “the third man”, the striker that slots alongside the two titans. In this week’s ScoutCast, we rinse this once through, throw some names around and argue a few theories of our own.

Chuck in the usual bandwagon review in “All Aboard”, the Gameweek preview and Mark’s latest gentle Fantasy Premier League reform idea and you have another episode packed and ready to go.

Is Walcott a better option than Nani/Young/Valencia as it does away with the will he won't he play headache?

Impossible to say. Given Arsenal's form I really want another player of theirs but I could never bring myself to buy Walcott, I just don't like him as a player. Ox is tempting but he'll always get hauled off between 55 and 70 minutes so another frustrating ff prospect.

I'm getting Walcott and a Utd winger (Young then Velencia at some point). Walcott has potential to be highest scoring mid for the run in and is infinitelt better with Sagna behind him.

Really stuck with what to do with this team

    Krul, Mig

    Kelly, Skrtel, Evans, Caulker, Santon

    Siggy, Bale, Silva, Sess, Adam

    RVP, Rooney, Ba

    0.1 Bank, 1FT

I want Adam out but i dont know for who. Ideally i want a Man Utd Mid but with Valencia still not 100% fit i need some help...

    Cheers :toppa:

Hello, all. I would appreciate your insights and assessment. Question is Rooney a must have for the weekend? And for the rest of the season?

My front 3 are RvP Ba and Yak.

I would need to do Silva ship Silva and Ba out for Rooney and 6.2 Midfielder (Morrison? Gylfi?).

(My midfield is Demps, Nani, Bale, Silva and Moses)

I am terrified of not having Rooney (c) this weekend. Is it wrong headed to buy all the hype?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hold off a week. Make a transfer this week to provide cash (Morrison is a good bet or Miyaichi to rotate with Moses). Rooney is coming off a tough Euro match. You have several great captain options this week: RvP, Ba, Dempsey and Bale.

Not sure about the 5 extra free transfers to be played at any time. How about just allow players to keep more than 2 free transfers at a time, if they've saved them? Once they're yours, they should be yours to keep. You could plan ahead more that way.

Who would you bench out of Mata (mci) and Moses (WBA)?

Mata is poor away and Moses is poor at home. I want to play Moses because at least he doesn't have a Cup game first that he could get injured in and his fixture is easier, but I just don't feel comfortable having a £9m+ player on the bench. I am getting rid of him next week in a move to fund Rooney (keeping Ba one more week)

I got him in the espn soccer fantasy game last week only because he is ridiculously priced at 6.3.
I would never have considered him for the fpl game, even though I used my wildcard last week.

Not sure Yaya is a great idea and neither is Valencia at the moment. Yaya is starting to play more like a DM and Valencia has uncertainty over his starting place. The GW31 transfer also isn't good as it involves a hit for a defender with is a definite no no unless its a DGW.

    Current Team

Hold onto B Arfa. I think he could be worth having for the next few games. Seems to be finding favor with Pardew. I would also avoid King to do him being injury prone

In fact it would make more sense to get rid of Silva for Gerard now than it will in two weeks time surely. His next two fixtures are very tasty

Not sure the first 2 moves are worthwhile tbh. King is always likely to miss the odd game and I'd give BArfa another shot. Would prefer Walcott and Utd mid over Gerrard and Lampard but thats just me.

Looking at Pool and Chelsea's fixtures they are better than Arsenal's and i've got three United already. Also i'm getting King for Spurs coverage,as he plays 3/4 games and when he plays Spurs have a higher clean sheet rate, and well, i'm avoiding Bale as his points are being reduced due to the Second striker, in this case Saha.

Too bad that Valencia was no show even on the bench last night and no indication for his return.

I have exact budget for Taarabt > Valencia. Alternative is Taarabt > A.Young + Suarez > 7.0m FW.
Any interesting FW in that bracket of price.. Yakubu, Agbo, Klasnic, P.Cisse?

I plan to play 4 DF now and wonder if I should drop any DF and play Enrique.

    Schwarzer
    Simpson - Evans - S.Kelly - BAE
    Dempsey - Silva - Bale
    Rooney - RvP - Suarez
Sub: Vorm | Taarabt, Drenthe, Enrique

Your team will be fine this week. Save a transfer unless it involves getting rid of Drenthe in which case you should sell him as soon as you can.

I don't quite agree with you 4DF policy. Can you explain why? I interested in hearing why!

I think those options you chose are they back are okay. I do favor 3 though. I think you should do Taarabt & Suarez to Young and 7.0 FW. I don't quite know who are good options at that price though.

I do favor 3 DF too but, if I don't do any transfer, I will have to play one of Taarabt (LIV) or Drenthe (ARS). One is less likely to score and one may not start.. So, I think my DF might outscore them this week.

3 DF is preferable if I got decent MF from transfer.

I think I saw it was Fabio who played at right back tonight. If Valencia is fit after the Wolves game, do you think he could grab a spot their if he doesn't replace young/nani?

Apologies if this has already been covered to death, but does anyone have any news on Nani and his likely availability to start at the w/e? Last decision for my team this week - keep Nani or switch him to Young...

Young played 90 mins so there is every chance he won't play in the weekend. Its such a lottery there is no easy answer but to consider a non United midfielder.

        Hmm, my front 8 are:

        Nani, Dempsey, Walcott, Siggy, (Surman)
        RVP, Rooney, Saurez

I guess Bale is a good option - worth using my freebie for, or take the gamble with Nani...

ive been all over the utd mids now for two weeks and still no clarity, agree with ryan another 90 mins for young last nite wud indicate to me he could easily be rested against wolves (but hey many wud disagree im sure) 😛 the mystery is wot happened to tony v last nite, before i saw the team sheet felt sure nani and valencia looked certain for wolves but now and esp considering saf's post match comments on taking off carrick and giggs with sun in mind has forced me t postpone (again) a utd mid signing......am really hoping that fergie will enlighten us further tomora but im not hopefull, nightmare 😆

I think you'll want Siggy back again very soon so I'd keep him - SWA have the 2nd best fixtures in the league from GW30 - GW36 according to the ticker.

I wouldn't take out Siggy yet, he has pretty decent fixtures coming up...

Whereas Sess has QPR next week (albeit a good fixture), then a really tough run thereafter...

Bring Morrison in, but for Sess IMO...

That's a tricky one. I think you have to play Siggy though:

      1) He is absolutely nailed on, whereas Kelly perhaps isn't with Hughes and Senderos fit.
      2) I think Kelly's returns are fairly limited, whereas Siggy has the higher potential for double gameweek scores.

That said, Fulham are on a great run at home so I could easily see this being 2-0 Fulham.

Sorry, not much help, but I'd play Siggy of the 2.

Get Rooney first and foremost. Rangel offers Swansea defensive cover which is still descent. Not sure which is better to take out Suarez or Ba. You'd have to trust your gut on that one but I'd take out Suarez first because of his lack of goals this season
