Have Robin Van Persie and Wayne Rooney made this Fantasy football lark look easy? Get the pair in, alternate the armband and watch the points flow. Simples.

Even if it really is that straightforward, there’s still a role for “the third man”, the striker that slots alongside the two titans. In this week’s ScoutCast, we rinse this once through, throw some names around and argue a few theories of our own.

Chuck in the usual bandwagon review in “All Aboard”, the Gameweek preview and Mark’s latest gentle Fantasy Premier League reform idea and you have another episode packed and ready to go.

Is it harsh to judge McClean's attacking form though with the difficult fixtures in the recent past?

        ARS new wba LIV

he did score in the Arsenal game though.

Just remember the reason he scored in that arsenal game: the Per freak Per injury is the only reason he scored.

I absolutely do think that. That's partially why I'm so happy with Ryo. That and amazing fixtures.

Not convinced about Ryo but I might be wrong. Either way, Villa look pretty solid in defence once again - don't see anything for him this gw.

No longer convinced by Morrison now that Brunt is back so I see A as a bit sideways. I think D is the best option

He's still on corners & had a decent goal threat against Che & United. Brunt is still a doubt innit?

Do you reckon Odem's absence might affect Morrison?

That is another factor. If Morrison is still playing 'in the hole' then he will always be a threat. I think WBA attacking potential in general will be affected with Odem being out.

Could work but its quite an expensive combination.

Nearly £21m for two mids who have been sporadic with their production and gametime this season, coupled with a rotation risk player who who is eating up nearly another £10m of your budget.

If it works, it works I suppose.

Won't matter if they don't play, and both are heavy rotation weeks. Its almost a 50/50 chance every week if they will play or not. add the fact that both are still in the FA cup and you have a no-fly zone for both of them.

Unless you have a healthy lead in your mini league I'd leave all 3 alone.

For the damage they do to your wallet they are too much of a rotation risk. Plus Liverpool and Chelsea away are not exactly points gold-mines for those players.

Bale hasn't been doing much lately either to be honest with you. If they bounce back against Stoke then fair enough, as they have had some tough fixtures over the last month.

o, if it's more of the same against Stoke then I'd consider it a trend and think seriously about losing Bale from my team.

      Welbeck 95% In favor
Rooney 100% He is the man at the moment
Nani 50% Got no idea what is going on here + Giggs will play
Young 80% Should start but may get subbed off at some point due to playing 90mins today
Valencia 20% Will likely start from bench because of injury
Hernandez 30% Welbeck is in favor not the pee
Evans 100% Has done well this season so I don't think he will be dropped

      Yaya 100% He always plays
Silva 90% Injury niggle but he also always plays
Aguero 95% Scored two goals today so I'd expect him to start over Tevez
Tezez 20% Will feature from the bench at some point. Not fit enough to start, too much golf

No. I've jinxed too many of our players already this FPL season!!!!!

I was looking at bringing in Odemwingie but will have to look at his yellow flag.

Either Silva or Bale needs to go from my team as I need to have some differentials-70 odd points behind mini league leader and our mids are virtually identical. I expect he's prob got Rooney for Aguero now too so that would cancel out my Man Utd differential over him.

Not really convinced Bale is going to get any big scores now and Spuds look like they may have probably run their course for the season.

Walcott is very tempting right now as a differential, especially as he's feeding RVP and Arsenal are on a hot streak right now.

In fairness he has looked very good, 2 goals in the 2.25 games he has played! I have a funny feeling we can cause an upset agaisnt Liverpool but have accepted we are definitely gone.

Silva hasn't been up to much in 2012 it seems, was underwhelming again tonight.

Play McClean this week, he is going to be marked by Bradley Orr I think

Orr will probably turn into Paulo Maldini now he's no longer with us.

Think Cissé will get goals but worried about having our players in my team being a curse on them. Totally irrational I know, but you know what I mean.....

If we beat Liverpool then we will stay up. Players we have are good enough to get enough points from the remaining matches but all about confidence now. You only get that by winning.

The bottom 5 looks like its going to change pretty much every week now. Consider that by the end of this next GW we could potentially be 16th, Bolton bottom and Wigan out of the drop zone.

Looks like it will go down to the last day of the season and potentially all 5 teams could go into that weekend with a chance of staying up.

Yep I need to sell Silva too but its hard to figure out who for. Walcott is the safe option but I'm not convinced the can maintain his run of form. I think Bale will do alright as I can see 'arry reverting back to 4411 soon, especially with VDV back and the need to get back to basics to stay ahead of Arsenal.

    My team:

    Krul (Vorm)
    Simpson, Skrtel, Evans (Taiwo, Wilkinson)
    Mata Bale Morrison Silva (Syggi)
    Ba Rooney(c) RVP(c)

Just wanted some transfer advice on Mata-> possibly Young, Nani or Valencia?
I have the funds and it would be for a 4 point hit, but just unsure on Mata's away form, and i'm liking United's fixtures?

I got rid of Mata to fund Rooney but if I already had Rooney I'd have been inclined to keep Mata.

Young strikes me as the best Utd option at the moment but the Utd midfield is probably going to go through a fair bit of rotation now that all their players are getting healthy again, so there is an element of risk with that move.

I'm not convinced Bale is going to do much the rest of this season either whereas Mata is still vital to what Chelsea do. Spurs may have run their course now. Arsenal look to be the team on the rise now and wouldn't surprise me to see them overtake Spurs very soon.

Why not get Young for Bale and keep Mata?

Tbh I dont wanna double on your team cause I want them to bottle it but a chance to climb up the fpl ranking is also tempting should Spurs batter them 😀

I certainly would, but I just don't know.

I actually think it has very little affect on Bale, though. I think hes just not playing well lately, and the two strikers have little to do with it.

In all fairness, even when we were in great form, ade came incredibly deep all the time. I don't think our formation has been far off. I thin VDV's precision is sorely missed, though.

1471 points from GW2 onwards is the magic number to qualify for the FPL Open. Anyone with a current rank in the league of 240 or below would be qualified if the draw was done tonight. Just over 33 hours left.

Elnino, in response to your previous question on Silva...

I really feel we already have seen the best from Silva this season, I can't see him regaining form through Citeh's pretty difficult run of games, especially since he can't seem to shake this niggling injury...

Next week, I will be removing Kompany from my team, the sole Citeh player left in my team... and I honestly can't see when I'd want any of them back... given United, Arsenal and Spurs superior run of fixtures until the end of the season...

Definitely a dilemma for Silva owners but I sold him with the WC in GW22 because I foreseen a drop in form, and I have never looked back... way better options in midfield IMO...

I'm tending to agree with you, Zep.

Silva's never been a high goalsocring mid he lives off assists and now that Tevez is back in the mix too that's probably going to hurt him.

Walcott looks to be in a rich vein of form and could well be a better option right now.

Definitely worked for you, dropping him in gw22.

Great points Zep. Also he just isn't the same after his injury niggle. Atleast when City goals dried up, he was a nearly player. But now he isn't looking too sharp and his movement seems restricted.

I'm giving him one last week and might get rid for a United min/Lamps.

The trouble with 'one more week' is that if he scores you 5 points you'll probably keep him for another few weeks... which will then have you back to square one...

Saying that, he is no stranger to stepping up in bigger games, so maybe that is an astute decision...

That is more to the point.

Away to Everton is a difficult game whereas Spurs home to a Stoke side fresh off an FA Cup game may offers probably a better chance of returns.

Mind you, Spurs play a cup game this weekend too.

Bale will probably get injured in the FA Cup game anyway and render this all moot!!!

People are talking about Chelsea having good fixtures: I would like to challenge that.

Of all their fixtures left, I see only four that are easy. asv WIG QPR BLB

the others are mcy TOT ful NEW ars liv, all of which are relatively difficult.

I know they were great at midweek against a team that was only playing 3 at the back, but lets not forget how terrible they were against stoke at midweek, and in general lately.

Also playing 3 teams fighting for their Premier League lives and one of those will be a feisty local derby.

However, Mata looks a decent investment for a steady stream of points from their home games. I wouldn't be looking at getting Chelsea players in but if I had them 'd think twice about selling them, if that makes sense?

It does make sense, but I disagree. that is horrible fixtures for anyone, let alone a team that is mostly playing poor and still havent really decided how they want to play right now. I love Mata, I really do, but he's not going to supply to his price tag.

They most certainly aren't the best set of fixtures for Top 6 sides. But with a bit of form picking up (including a City thrashing mid-week), you will sense a need to chose form over fixtures.

Win against Birm, Stoke & Napoli means 3 in 3 for RDM. You could make cases for each one being a "lucky" win but winning is everything, imo. Under AVB we had 3 wins in his last 13 games. Possibly a sign of things to come...erase the AVB era from the form equation since the players were playing to get their manager out.

Ok, if youre proud of THAT Brum win, cool, good on you. I think that was beyond meaningless and could have gone either way.

you lot were awful at Stoke. Just terrible.

I give you all the credit for the Napoli game, but I would say that is the weakest defense of the 3 games, as well. Also only played 3 at the back.

you're getting results for sure, but you're not playing well at all. Very, very poor league form.

"Very, very poor league form." based on the AVB era?

We've played only one game under RDM.

Either way I'm not advocating buying Chelsea players. But I am saying our form is improving and we're on our way to challenging for the CL spot, apart from being the Kings of Europe 😉

United have been pretty awful too btw - be it in Europe or the PL - but fortunately they've been pulling off results in the PL.

I'm afraid it is that point in the season where teams will have to pull off a WIN despite playing poorly. This is what Spurs, Newcastle & City have failed to do.

The only side with "real free-flowing form" at the moment is Arsenal.

A look at the League table and Wolves goals against column really should be all the evidence you need.

Yes, Wolves could produce an upset, we don't know what actually is going to happen on Sunday adn that is why they play the games.

But the form book points heavily to a very convincing Man Utd victory here.

    Krul | Vorm
    Santon | GJohnson | Heitinga | Senderos | Bardsley
    Silva | Bale | Dempsey | McClean | Moses
Van Persie | Rooney | Pogrebnyak

    1 FT
Who would you get rid of out of that lot? Or save the transfer?

At the moment I'm waiting for news on Johnson, if he's out, then I'll replace him with Sagna. If he's fit I'll probably save the transfer

    Thoughts? Thanks

Johnson needs to go. I wouldn't get Sagna though as that is too much invested in defense. Consider Caulker instead and use the funds to upgrade Moses or McClean next week.

Sometimes I will go to bed early and get up for the 8pm midweek games which are 6am here...

G'day I'm in Auckland but have grown up in Northland. In the South Island Queenstown and the central lakes district is good but also consider Twizel (Mt Cook). The West Coast of the south Island particularly Greymouth (glaciers) is a fantastic area to drive and explore, Fiordland is also a perfect example of 100% pure NZ. In the North Island go to Taupo, the lake and volcanos are awesome. Rotorua is also a must and is close to Taupo. Wellington is a cool city as well to visit

Any of the ski fields in QT are fine. Mt Ruapehu south of Taupo is good too but tends to be more crowded due to the higher population in the north island. The Tongariro crossing is fantastic though so that would be the alternative there. There is so much more to do than Skiing and bunjee jumping though, the sky is the limit really. For scenic exploring of the landscape etc Fiordland and the West coast are good.

    Hola dead-zone.

    Team for this week:

    Mignolet
    Evans, Enrique, Caulker
    Bale, Walcott, Sigurdsson, Miyaichi
    RVP, Rooney(C), Holt

    Krul | Simpson, Valencia, Luiz

    1FT & 0.0m in bank.

    A few questions:

    (1) Should I play Simpson over Caulker? Krul over Mignolet?
    (2) How confident are we about Valencia starting/playing at Wolves?
    (3) Should I move Luiz now or save the transfer for next week?

    Cheers for any thoughts!

      1) play Caulker and Krul
      2) this is the question we'd all like the answer too! I dont have him in my team at the moment and I'm not going to buy him this week because of the uncertainty...BUT...since you have him already I would put him in the starting lineup and let autosub do its thing in the event that he doesn't play.
      3) keep for this week (your team is fine as it is) and enjoy the flexibility of 2 free subs next week.

      Good luck.

Valencia is highly unlikely to start. 25% would be the figure I'd say on his probability to start in the first xi. He should be on the bench for sure, but I'm pretty sure he will come on irrespective of United winning/losing.

Yeah it can sometimes be a curse having two good keepers! For this week though, I prefer Caulker to Simpson - in which case it makes sense to go with Krul in goal (so that you still have Newcastle coverage).

      1) Play Simpson and Krul. Back the home team in defense

    Afternoon Zoners

Is anyone a teensy bit worried about having their players in the Cup games before the league games next week? I've just realised I have 4 playing in the Cup and although I only have two of them in my starting team I'd be well peesed off if they got injured. I was going to do a transfer but since it's not astonishingly vital I think I'll do the sensible thing and hold fire until next week.
There might be some clarity on the MUFC midfielders by then. I'm not holding out much hope though. Kind of think this might be a low scoring week for some of the higher-owned players ( except for Rooney, fingers crossed ).
What to do about Silva, though, that's the question.

Silva is set to leave most teams but there is so much uncertainty on who the best replacement is. Your point about the cup games is also very valid. Another reason to hold fire unless we expect some players to miss out because of possible rotation.

Spot on. This is my predicament exactly - I'm willing to get rid of Silva but all of the obvious transfer targets all come with a degree of risk. I've been thinking about it all week - but at the moment I'm erring towards doing nothing (ie keeping Silva) and then re-evaluating things next week. (It's always nice having that second free trade too!)

      Got 4 players as well

Three of them are ever-presents, and the 4th is on my bench anyway.

As of holding fire, I will probably do that, unless Lindegaard decides to drop before the deadline, then I might pull the trigger (not that I need another keeper, but I have 3 United slots tied up).

In the same scenario regarding Linde. However Linde + Silva out next week for Migs + United mid for 2FT could work well. By then there should be more clarity regarding the midfield situation

but getting closer to the issue mentioned, since 4 players might play 2 games before next deadline, coupled with the foggy United midfield, and Silva's possible slump continuation, I think this is a very good week to hold transfer fire

    good morning

would love some opinions on who you would start out of this lot:

Vermaelen (eve), Carragher (qpr), Evans (wol), Senderos (SWA), Santon (NOR)

    im stumped.

      Start in this order

      1. Verminator
      2. Evans

      3. Senderos 80% to start
      4. Santon 70% will see 60mins
      5. Carragher 70% is Agger back?

hmmm. trying to save a transfer for next week, worth dropping carragher now for a decent cheap CS shout? wanted to wait until next week to get Caulker.

He would be good to start but its just the uncertainty about Agger being available. I think Caulker is a good shout but start Senderos over him. I expect Fulham to get a cleanie

In saying that there is no point using a FT on a sub so save imo

cheers, that was my plan. everton have been great at home vs the big clubs, all but guaranteed arsenal concede, and im not keen on Verm scoring in consecutive games, but its hard to bench him, though if i start senderos and carragher and one doesnt feature, then i get verm regardless. i think thats probably the way to go.

Not an easy decision but, in order of preference, I would play: Evans, Carragher, Verm, Senderos, Santon.

        cheers

only felt strong about starting evans and benching santon, this supports my belief

it was confirmed sorensen would start the FA Cup which supports the notion he will remain the keeper for cup games and begovic will start the PL games

    Hi fellas,

Who is the best candidate to be given the armband tomorrow?

    Bale vs Stoke
    Pogrebnyak vs Swansea
    Dempsey vs Swansea
    Wolves vs Rooney
    Everton vs Van Persie

    This is important. Thanks, guys.

Check the captains poll for the general view. Personally, I'm leaning towards Rooney (C) and Dempsey (VC)
