After being shifted around the West Brom midfield all season, it seems as if James Morrison has finally found a home. Used on both wings and through the middle in a conventional 4-4-2 by Roy Hodgson, Morrison’s versatility proved ultimately detrimental to his Fantasy prospects but a recent change of formation has coincided with a rise to prominence…

Afforded a role in the hole behind Marc-Antoine Fortune as the Baggies moved to 4-4-1-1, Morrison’s ascent as a viable mid-price Fantasy option has gone hand-in-hand with a climb up the table for the midlands outfit. A recent three-match winning streak was brought to an end at Old Trafford on Sunday, but a record of four wins and a draw from the last seven is indicative of their upturn in fortunes.

Morrison has been crucial for Hodgson over this recent period, grabbing two goals and four assists as the likes of Stoke, Chelsea and Sunderland were swept aside. Indeed, a breakdown of his Fantasy Premier League (FPL) stats shows that, prior to the Gameweek 22 win at the Britannia, Morrison had averaged just 2.4 points per game but since then, he’s jumped to 5.6, despite recent blanks against Chelsea and United.

With summer signing Shane Long now struggling for first team starts and Peter Odemwingie stationed wide right, Hodgson’s bold decision to dismantle his previously lacklustre attack has proved dividend. West Brom had scored a mere 20 goals in 21 games before the win at Stoke – since then, they’ve netted 14 in seven; a huge improvement that has Fantasy managers examining their attacking talents with renewed vigour.

A look at the upcoming fixture schedule suggests West Brom will be afforded plenty opportunity to maintain their good form. Hodgson’s side face a trip to Wigan and host Newcastle, Blackburn and QPR in the next six Gameweeks – all could be potentially profitable for the Baggies attacking assets.

With Odemwingie set to miss out on the potentially profitable trip to Wigan with a calf complaint, Morrison – at a mere 5.4 – offers ideal coverage of West Brom’s attacking talent against the basement club. Indeed, with game time guaranteed and a mere 1.3% ownership, the Scot looks well-placed to maintain his role as cut-price differential over the next few weeks, as Hodgson looks to steer his side to safety and beyond.

Don't even consider Ba!!! He looked dead on his feet against arsenal and simply hasn't been in form since african nations. It has to be rooney all day. Man utd will tear wolves a new one and everton have been tight at home, hence steering away from rvp, although he's my VC.

    Mignolet
    Raylor,Senderos, Enrique, Evans
    Siggy, Dempsey, Bale
    RVP(vc), Rooney(c), Ba

    Vorm, McClean, Silva, Rangel

Was thinking of Silva > Walcott/ Gerrard for a hit. mmmmm

unless theres something sinister going on he should play

he apparently got a bruise in training that kept him out last week, i just think his displays away in europe (fergie doesnt really trust him in alot of tough away games liverpool everton etc) meant he wasnt needed so has been rested

if he is out again there has to be more to it as bruising shouldnt keep u out that long

Yeah - can't justify a 4 pt hit to take Suarez out this week, after a 4 pt hit to get him in last week with Rooney playing 90 mins on a Thurs night in Spain.

I've had him in the starting 11 all week and kept in light of this game so for him to be out would be very annoying.

If he is out, who are people thinking of getting in?

    My defence is: Skrtel/Enrique/Raylor/Evans/Kelly

Cos the rest of my team has really good games this week, and he is 4.8 so not exactly really expensive.

What team would you suggest this week?? And do you think I should make a transfer? I may put McClean 1st sub...

Candidate for most boring transfer of the week?! Drenthe out, Reo Coker back in! 🙂

Funds in to get Evans next week, will probably sell Simpson but want to check that Kelly doesn't lose his place now too with Hughes fit. Could do this week as I have two trannies but also fancy Wolves to nick one, so makes sense to just do the one and play Simpson at home instead of Evans away....

Like the idea of having two transfers every week through the run in to sort out any disasters and keep my rank up! 🙂

That's what I'm leaning towards as of next week. Got this nagging doubt Kelly is going to be rotation prone so will probably end up keeping Simpson. Rotates perfectly with Naylor as first sub!

Mine is more boring: NTaylor out, Caulker in.

The free transfer voucher idea of Mark's sounds interesting. I think the semi-serious players will be annoyed at losing a wildcard though. I think it's a good idea, but i think we should keep the two wildcards and have 3 free transfer vouchers to use when we want.

I would actually prefer to stick with the status quo except have two wild cards that can be played anytime and not have one restricted to January. Its just simpler really and less confusing. It basically achieves the same thing.

I like wildcards but i really like the idea of free transfer vouchers. They'd be useful for double gameweeks and injuries.

I'd play Kelly and Mcauley over caulker. Fulham's home form is good and I expect them to score.

I'm going siggy over kelly too I think. Kelly is 6pt maximum....great for his price, but Siggy could get anything.

The potential return of Valencia could spell bad news for Young. In the first 4.5 games and the most recent 3 games that Valencia has missed, Young accumulated 4 goals and 9 assists. In the 6 games Young played alongside Valencia, Young has 0 goals and 0 assists, while Valencia has 5 assists.

A very tough decision for captain. I'm ruling out Rooney as I don't see him playing anywhere near 90 min. I expect Everton to be much tighter at the back ruling out RVP, which leaves 4 with decent home games - Silva, Bale, Dempsey or Ba?

Interesting info on Valencia and Young playing together. It does make you think. However I would expect Nani to start over Valencia at the moment so I think Young's returns will continue.

Anyone getting any closer to working out the Nani/Young/Valencia riddle? Is SAF having a press briefing today. Anything on twitter or club websites? Anything?

Kelly from Fulham, is he still a first choice start or potential bench fodder?

is the rare chance of a Skertl goal worth the extra spend over Enrique?

I feel not as he's never scored more than a couple in any season and already has two for the year.

one of these Liverpool boys needs to go and it's either Enrique -> Swansea defender (don't have any Swansea defensive cover at the moment or Skrtle -> BAE as I have no Spurs defensive cover.

    thoughts?

Anyone feeling bold enough to bench RVP? Everton have picked up some impressive clean sheets in recent home games... Otherwise, unsure who to bench from:

    Silva (CHE)
    Valencia (wol)
    Bale (STO)
    Dempsey (SWA)
    McClean (bla)
    Suarez (qpr)
    Cisse (NOR)

Never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever bench RVP. There is always, always, always someone more benchable.

    Advice please

Thinking of either keeping a four man defence

    Caulkner, Evans, Skrtel, Simpon

Unsure whether to drop one for Mclean but unsure which one if I do?

tough one....I have a similar dilemma over benching Kelly or Siggy...in the end I favour the attacker in such situations. Also Simpson could end up with 2pt the way norwich have been playing recently.
