Roy Hodgson looks set to rotate his squad for the remainder of the season. Alan Pardew is confident of a return for Cheick Tiote this weekend, though is less certain on Ryan Taylor. Martin O’Neill has a few injury concerns ahead of this evening’s trip to Blackburn, while Roberto Mancini is set to give Carlos Tevez a bench role at the Etihad against Chelsea tomorrow night.

Roy Hodgson offered an insight into his selection strategy for the remainder of the season – a policy that won’t be welcomed by us Fantasy managers. Having navigated his side away from the trapdoor of relegation, Hodgson has expressed his intent to utilise his squad from this point on…

We’re looking upwards and I’m looking to use the whole of the squad…People can expect a few changes in the coming nine games rather than me just playing the same 11 each week because, as we saw, people like Scharner, who came in for Andrews, and people like Long, who came in for Fortune, are available.

This will likely see heavy rotation, with the midfield and attack looking particularly cloudy. The likes of Jerome Thomas, Chris Brunt and perhaps recent Fantasy favourite James Morrison could all be prone to rotation, while Shane Long, Peter Odemwingie and Marc-Antoine Fortune are all set to compete for the forward roles – with the possibility that Hodgson will continue with a lone striker strategy.

The back four could also rotate at the full-back positions, although both Gareth McAuley and Jonas Olsson look likely everpresents and are set to have their partnership restored for the visit of Newcastle this weekend.

Newcastle’s top four ambitions are set to be boosted by the return of Cheick Tiote for the visit to the Hawthorns. Alan Pardew seems confident that the combative midfielder will be in contention, having missed the narrow win over Norwich at the weekend. James Perch was drafted into central midfield for the Canaries match on Sunday in Tiote’s absence, with Yohan Cabaye moving out wide to cover the flank as a result of Jonas Gutierrez’s shift to left-back.

The Magpies boss is less confident on Ryan Taylor’s chances – the top owned FPL defender has missed Newcastle’s last two matches due to a calf injury. Pardew is hopeful of a return for Taylor against Liverpool on April 1.

Taylor’s return will be interesting, given that Pardew has shuffled his resources of late. The decision to hand Gutierrez the left-back berth against Norwich was a major surprise, as Davide Santon dropped to the bench. Taylor could well see a return to left-back then, with Hatem Ben Arfa perhaps cementing regular starts on the right-flank, competing with Gabriel Obertan. Santon’s potential as a Fantasy asset currently looks far from guaranteed.

North-East rivals Sunderland are reportedly set to go into tonight’s trip to Ewood Park with doubts surrounding the fitness of both Phil Bardsley and Seb Larsson; Kieran Richardson is also thought to be a major doubt with some reports suggesting he is ruled out.

Bardsley’s rib injury, sustained in the cup tie at Goodison on Saturday, is set to hand a debut to Sotirios Kyrgiakos, with John O’Shea likely to shift to right-back. Larssson’s possible absence could open the way for a return for David Vaughan, who came off the bench in the 1-1 with Everton. Stephane Sessegnon will serve the last of his three-match ban in tonight’s game, while Lee Cattermole will complete his suspension in the home clash with QPR at the weekend.

Blackburn will go into tonight’s game with just Vince Grella on the sidelines. Steve Kean has been boosted by the return to fitness of both Bradley Orr and David Dunn and the duo could be line to start against the Black Cats.

Carlos Tevez is set to make the bench for City’s Etihad clash with Chelsea tomorrow evening. Reports today state that striker has impressed in training with Roberto Mancini ready to turn to the Argentine to help revive the title challenge. Joleon Lescott is reportedly poised to return to to bolster the City backline – the centre-half is hopeful of a return to full training today, after being sidelined with a groin problem for a fortnight. Both Gareth Barry and Pablo Zabaleta are expected to be available, as the injuries ease ease for Mancini. Unfortunately for the City boss, Vincent Kompany is set to miss out tomorow. The Belgian has undergone intensive treatment on a calf injury but has failed to recover in time, with question marks also raised against the likelihood of his availability for the weekend game against Stoke. If Lescott makes it for tomorrow, Mancini will be set to choose between Stefan Savic and Kolo Toure in the heart of the City defence, with a newly confident Fernando Torres possibly lining up in opposition.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

no. Strangely Wigan are better on the road. Moses certainly is. Every chance they could nick a goal. I fully expect Wigan to lose though. If you have Verm keep him, remember he is Arsenal's second best striker and they have good fixtures.

Don't ask...he's been a big Scottish chain round my neck for weeks. Each week his price plummets, each week I avoid the points hit needed to shift him. I think this week is his time. I've lost .6 on him in the last month.

My plan is Silva and Fletcher out for Valencia and Balotelli/Ade

          which would give me

Demp - Yaya- Bale- Valencia- Siggy
          RVP -Rooney - Balo/Ade

          a truly awesome prospect.

Haha, it's like me with Walters. Still sitting with him and now it looks like I'm stuck with him for CITY/wigan/WOL!

I feel the need to dump Ba. I got on that wagon waaayyy to early. Very tempted with Suarez, but not sure if I'm willing to burn my fingers. Will see how he goes vs Qpr and what his injury status is.

Siggy I wanted from gw 32 only, but his points haul vs Ful have messed with my brain!

I'm still avoiding Suarez. He is so far still not capable of a double digit score in a week and at that price I at least want the hope of that. THat's why Ade and the cheaper Balo appeal more. EXcept Rooney and RVP there are very little striking options around.

Yer, get Siggy in before his price rises even more. I'd even do a hit to swap Walters for him if I were you.

I'm not keen on hits. So tight in overall rankings and only +/- 10pts between positions 1-3 in my mini league.

Walters/Silva-->Siggy/Val for free? Would mean going another week with Ba vs wba(a). Hhmmm... Probably best thing to do. Gives me another week to look at a striker in place of Ba.

I've only taken one all season so am also not a fan, but I think the occasional one is ok if its part of a long term plan. If Fletcher continues plummeting then he could cost me dear. My advantage over my rivals is my team value and I intend to use that to good effect in the final few games.

I think I've made up my mind after chatting to you. Will keep Ba one more week and part ways with Silva for a 3rd(!) time this year.

I could get in Ade for Ba next week and have funds to do Dempsey-->Lamps in gw 32 or even get Silva back. Maybe even Drogba.?

On that note... would you double up on Pool defence if you had other viable options against Wigan?
Currently have Reina, Skrtel, Evans, Turner to play with Caulker first sub. All are at home, so could spread the risk and play Caulker instead of Skrtel, but wouldn't feel right to bench the Liverpool man.

Well I did Young>Valencia last night, feel free to judge the move. What decided it for me was I'd rather not go into another week hoping for Valencia not to do anything....much more likely that Young won't perform than Tony. Plus the extra cash is awesome, next week looking at doing:

    Moses>Etherington
    Ba>Adebayor

This could be the mother of all bitchfests. Michael Ballack's adviser has expressed his anger today that Red Bull New York don't want to sign his client at the end of the season, because the club prefers a younger, more attacking model - erm... Stephen Ireland.

"Michael would love to play in New York, but it seems that Eric Soler (= the general manager of Red Bulls) made promises to Stephen Ireland as long ago as October." said Ballack's adviser Michael Becker. "You should ask Soler why he thinks that Ballack is a central defender or a holding midfielder. He's the only person who thinks that. Why would you buy a no-name player, whom no-one knows and who hasn't played for months? And why would you do that when a Michael Ballack is available?"

I think it's a decent team, you're set up nicely for fixtures and form ,and you've got wiggle room in all positions (i.e. you shouldn't be more than two transfers away from swapping big hitter mids or upping a defencer etc).

I kind of knew getting Valencia would mean a hit, so the plan was to downgrade Richards to RTaylor. Plan B: ship Moses to an (even) cheaper mid.

Thing is, it now looks as if Taylor's out til at least GW31, and plan B isn't much use, as Moses suddenly looks to have more form than any MF I can see under 5m. Ok I'm probably looking at a bencher but I really want to get someone at least as nailed on as VicMo, cos I'll end up keeping him at least 2 weeks.

So I'm preferring Richards > sub-4.5 defender for a week, then swapping for Raylor.

Any clues who the defender should be? Or have I missed a decent MF to downgrade Moses to? I'm maxed out on ManU, Spuds and Swans, or at least don't want to double up anywhere if I can avoid it.

    Cheers for any replies.

Yeah Naughton looks about the only nailed on player in the squad.

I've had Raylor in my sights for weeks, and then he goes and gets a knock. He's a must-have for me in the run in, and he should be back next week, hence the one week for a defender.

          2. Baloteli/scarface/djeko breathing down his neck. Not so with suarez
          3. Next 3 fixtures more diff for Citeh than Pool. You should know that...Citeh play Ars!

I'm looking at Aguero for SUN ars WBA compared to Pool's new AVL bla..I'd say Aguero would edge it due to his impressive home form + he is generally better ha.
On 2, that is a worry, however with the European football out of the way, I'd expect Aguero to start the majority of the time, and Man City fans seem to think he needs to play every game.
I'll have the Chelsea and Stoke games to check it out, though.

I hate to say it, but it's logic. Ba just doesn't seem to be firing, Balotelli might not even start and if he does he's more likely to stamp someone than score, and Arsenal are playing well.

I have Theo, but I also have Ba...
I can see Walcott nicking a goal, whereas Ba's form and the fact that I think Balotelli won't start vs Stoke (will get a better idea after Chelsea game) makes me think they might fail this week.

Silva owners, are you sticking or shipping?

City's forwards are a no-go area for me now, with 4 of them now going for a starting place. If I was chasing, then I'd have gambled on one of them, but I'm not.

Which leaves pretty much Silva or nobody (not convinced Yaya is worth it).

It's a tough decision, he's my only GW1 player left, I'm hoping that the game on Wednesday makes a conclusive case either way. Either him or Dempsey are for the chop in my team, instinctively I'd rather chop Dempsey but I could go either way.
