I hate double Gameweeks. So often false dawns for Fantasy managers, they can promise so much and deliver so little leaving you frustrated and left to clear the ugly remnants of some hurried squad surgery. Then again – the announcement of the latest slew of doubles may just have left the door ajar for me to close the mini-league gap on Mark. Our host was certainly wriggling uncomfortably in his chair during today’s recording, pondering the damage that the Gameweek 34 blanks could inflict and the surge in points that Gameweeks 35 and 36 could bring.

In truth we hardly had time to digest the full picture before dragging ourselves into the studio. Like giggling schoolgirls at a One Direction concert, we were giddy with excitement and largely incoherent with our speech. Still, in and amongst the usual regulars, you might just find something of value amongst the jibberings.

It's quite nice for me that the Citeh vs United fall into the DGW, only Rooney to play for me in that one while Evans & Tony V can sit on the bench.

Are you guys thinking of shipping any United or Citeh players???

I will maybe ship Tony V for Gerrard for the DGW. But that is IF Liverpool realyy comes inform again.
And it would be for a 4pt hit, so I will probably not do it.

Evenin all - Can anyone offer me your opinion on my 'plan' (you may need to look at the ticker too)

    Current team:

    Vorm/Mig
    Caulker/Jevans/Fig/Santon/Kompany
    Siggy/Young/Bale/Silva/Ramsey
    VP/Suarez/Hernandez

    Here's my plan:

    31 - King/Gallas (santon)
    32 - Yaya (Silva), Cahill (Fig) - 4pt hit
    33 - none
    34 - Sess
    35 - Bolton player (DGW x 2) (Ramsey)
36 - Cech (DGW) (Vorm), Studge (DGW) (Hernandez), Lennon (DGW) (Siggy) - 4pt hit
    37 - Song/Clev/Scholes (Sess)
    38 - Yaya/Johnson/Milner (Bolton plyr)

Let me know what you think

    REPOST
Thoughts on my transfer plan until GW34.

For GW31- Senderos to Kompany for a 4 point hit which is for the long term.
    For GW32- Williamson to Caulker
    For GW33- Dempsey to Walcott
For GW34- Reina to Mignolet and Moses to Sessegnon(I know Moses plays but Sess has Wolves at home and Moses has Arsenal away) 4 point hit.

It would leave my team looking like this.

    Mignolet (Sorensen)
    Kompany, Evans, Caulker (Skrtel, Kelly)
    Walcott, Siggy, Valencia, Sess (Bale)
RVP, Rooney, Jelavic(Not sure if his game has been rescheduled or not)

My thinking on next few weeks!

    GW34 - 11 playing 4 DGWers benched if poss?

    DGW Thoughts

GW35 - Bolton - Bogdan is a good option, plenty of save points, but I already have Krul for following week so will pass. Ryo - my four other midfielders that week could well outscore him still, Valencia, Bale, Siggy, Dempsey (possibly). Think saving a transfer will be the better option.
AVL - Only defence looks worth investing for an attractive double, but wastes a free transfer so will pass again.

GW36 - Spurs - will have 3 for sure out of Walker/BAE/Kaboul VDV/Bale/Ade as they have brilliant fixtures plus those following.
Chelsea - Despite having the best fixtures of the lot may pass as they have (likely) Champs League Semi week before so expect rotation and Liv away follows. Mata/Lampard could be one week punts replaced by Walcott for Norwich, with Cole/Terry benched 37 then Blackburn.
Fulham - Not an attractive double but with Wigan before and Sunderland at home after Dempsey the DGW King is shouting out as a replacement for Walcott GW35 when he faces Chelsea, others I will pass on.
Newcastle - Wigan stands out but Chelsea away could mean just an extra 2 points and with City following, Krul will be my sole cover, better options elsewhere.
Liverpool - Hoping for there form to improve, currently own Skrtel and Suarez so will be keeping especially with great fixtures leading up.
Everton (Possible) - Baines yes please! Average fixtures but with 2 decent games after I will be bringing him in. Jelavic is also an option as 3rd striker.
Stoke (Possible) - Better investment elsewhere.

EUROPA League Final Group Games Preview

    Group D

Group D favourite Epic Fail lived up to his billing, and his boast is his now legendary interview and has already secured qualification, whilst rival Gragamel has departed early. Zurich and Vaslui will battle it out for the 2nd spot, with Vaslui's vastly superior GD perhaps giving him a narrow advantage.

Zurich (Yossi - The Jewish Iniesta) v Vaslui (Coriswrasse) - A titanic battle to conclude Group D, a straight shootout for qualification. Vaslui's matchday 2 destruction of Zurich could be the deciding factor, as that, coupled with Vaslui's huge GD advantage leave them 3 points ahead. Only a win by 57 points will be enough for Zurich. Zurich have used their transfer this week, with the likely move being the much talked about ba to Cisse. For Vaslui I anticpate a transfer of Morrisson to Miyachi or Barfa.

    Predicted line-ups

Zurich - Krul, Evans, Evra, Riise, Bale, Siggy, Dempsey, Ryo, Cisse, Rooney, RvP

Vaslui - Al-Habsi, Jones, Senderos, BAE, Enrique, Young, Miyachi,,Dempsey, Cisse, Rooney, RvP

Key Battle - 2 very similar teams. Young may be the interesting differential, but Yossi has double United defence.

Verdict - narrow home win, but Vaslui to progress on GD

Sporting Lisbon (Epic Fail) v Lazio (Gargamel) Sporting will look to round off the group in style with a victory over eliminated Lazio. Sporting boss Epic Fail has been as good as his boast in guiding his team through, whilst Grgamel has been, well, an epic fail. Sporitng have yet to make a transfer, although with triple Liverpool defence, this may change, Lazio have also yet to use a transfer, though a Sorensen to Begovic switch may be on the cards.

    Predicted Line-Ups -

Sporting - Reina, Evans Skrtel, Kelly, Bale, Valencia, Miyachi, Dempsey, Rooney, RvP, Yak

Lazio - Begovic, Richards, Evans, Raylor. Bale, Miyachi, Walcott, Valencia, Rooney, RvP, Ba

Key Battle - Two stand out here, Yak v Ba and Dempsey v Walcott. I'd back the former in both

    Verdict - Home Win.

Thanks! All the moves I made prior to playing sporting lisbon on their wildcard helped secure me the group. CISSE! is my stud and Siggy certainly helped a bit. Moves this week Jones>Evans Morrison>Ben Arfa as predicted. Cheers Mates! Went ahead and did the double move given the GD.

Don't you guys think that too much planning for the dgw could turn out harmful? I am planning to have a keeper and 3 players(who have blanks) on the bench for gw 34 wid a freebie. So this would help to field XI in gw 34..and then 3 more players for dgw. This would give 7 dgw players and 11 in gw 34.
    Thoughts appreciated.

Yes, ideally you want 11 playing GW34 with 4 DGW players (who you actually want for the DGW) on your bench. This enable you to get to 7 DGW players for a 4 point hit unless you can save a transfer GW34 in which case you can do it for free.

I think it's good to plan for 34 and 36. What can be harmful, which I think you are trying to say, is sacrificing too much in 34, in the hopes of exploding in 36. You have a very simple plan, which I think is really good.

    repost due to previous error

EUROPA League Preview – Final Group Matches

    Group C preview

There is still everything to play for in this group with every side still in with a chance of qualifying. So, let’s start by looking at what needs to happen for each team to qualify

1st – Legia Warsaw (Happy Ankit) – The maths for Legia is simple avoid defeat and qualify antything else and they rely on results elsewhere, but with 1 win and loss v every team in the group and a poor GD in relation to Dinamo defeat could well mean elimination for Legia

2nd – Hapoel Tel-Aviv (Billy Ketsu) – Similar to Legia, a draw or a win sends them thorugh, anything else sends them out, unless they can avoid defeat top Legia by more than 2 points.

3rd – Rapid Bucharest – (Menly) – Known for his unusaul entrances, his superior GD gives him the advantage over Funkav, but nothing less than a win will be enough for Dinamo despite boasting easily the best GD in the group

4th – PSV (Funlkyav) – The early favourite needs a minor miracle to advance he must beat Menly by something approaching 50 points having both won and lost vs both Legia and Hapoel.

Hapeol Tel-Aviv v Legia – The battle for group supremacy, winner take all. All the cliches apply here. The top 2 go head to head. I am unable to see Billy Ketsu’s transfers on his profile, though looking at his team I anticipate nothing changing. The same can be said of Happy Ankit, though I anticipate that Silva has become Valencia.

    Predicted Line-Ups

Hapoel – Bogdan, Sagna, Evans, Skrtel, Walcott, Bale, Valencia, Gerrard, RvP, Rooney, Pog

Legia – Krul, Skrtel, Evans, Kelly, Raylor, Valencia, Bale, Dempsey, RvP, Rooney, Suarez

Key Battle – This tie centers on Fulham and Liverpool with Gerrard and Pog vs Dempsey and Suarez set to decide the result

Prediction – Narrow away win, with Hapoel relying on a PSV victory.

PSV v Rapid Bucharest – PSV cling to extremely faint hopes of qualification, whist Rapid will be banking on a superior GD to see them through to the next round, assuming they claim the win of course
For PSV I suspect one of both of the popular Silva to Valencia or Ba to Cisse transfers have been made. I anticipate that Valencia has also arrived for Rapid, at the expense of Ashley Young

    Predicted line-ups

PSV – Krul, Evans, Skrtel, Simpson., Siggy, Mata, Valencia, Bale, RvP, Rooney, Cisse

Rapid – Krul, Verm, Evans, Kelly, Dempsey, Bale, Valencia, Ryo, RvP, Rooney, Yak

Key Battle – Dempsey v Cisse

    Verdict- Away win and qualification.

Proposed GW34 team (for a 4 point hit)

    Vorm (BLA)
Verm (WIG), Evans (AVL) Caulker (BLA) - may get Turner (WOL) instead of Caulker
Siggy (BLA), Walcott (WIG), Valencia (AVL), McClean (WOL)
RVP (WIG), Rooney (AVL), Tevez (nor)

Unavailable subs: Krul, Ryo, Baines, Skrtel

10 at home and everyone has a good fixture.

My big problem is the idea of getting rid of someone with a double gameweek just to field 11 on week 34.

I want to keep Bale, Miyaichi, SImpson and Skrtel for the double, but one of them would have to go to field 11 in 34.

Should I just be ok with fielding 10? I don't feel like I would mind that much.

The problem is I would just be saving the transfer if I keep him: if I get rid, it means one less double gameweeker I can get later.

Only real option as a replacement is Bardsley.

TBH Newman it depends on who you'd want to bring in, Simpson would be the one i'd chuck if I had to. I'm shipping him somewhen to make place for Gary Cahill.

It is a big problem. If you want the DGW player back after GW34 you are effectively taking an 8 point hit to avoid a blank. It depends if the player you bring in can do more than repay the 6 points (assuming they get 2 appearance points) over GW34 and GW35.

I think its worth it if you can bring in a proven performer with a good fixture. For example, I plan to bring Walcott in for Bale GW34 for 4 points before getting Bale back for 4 points. Walcott is at home to Wigan. A goal +1 bap and I break even and there is certainly potential for a higher score.

Ok captain choice is bugging me this week. Currently have it set on Clint at home to Norwich, but Bale against a depleted Swans backline, Rooney at Rovers and RvP at QPR are calling me. Given none of my main rivals in my MLs own Clint anymore should I just play it safe and captain RvP knowing i will get 100% benefit from Clint regardless, but if RvP goes crazy i could lose out.

I'm leaning towards Rooney myself and will make RVP vice captain. I certainly wouldn't stick the armand on Bale this week but if I owned Clint, he would challenge Van Persie for vice captain. That's meaningless though because I feel Rooney at Blackburn can't be ignored

Having a look through Villa - being the only team with a game in 34 and a DGW - really is slim pickings.
Given could be a shout - even if United batter them he may well get save points.
ICT stats indicate that Petrov is a possibility - more threatening than I was expecting and a fit Charles could be a punt. Ireland is a consideration but stats don't seem favourable.
Weimann is a bargain basement punt and Gabby could be a shout but I can never buy into players who are playing POO.

Is Ryo worth getting in? Saving a transfer could be a better option!

    GW35 - Valencia(EVE) Siggy(bol) Bale(qpr) Dempsey(WIG) - Ryo(SWA/avl)
    GW36 - Mata(QPR/NEW) Siggy(WOL) Dempsey(eve/liv) - Ryo(sun/TOT)

I'm sticking to one simple rule: don't transfer in any player you plan on changing before GW 36.

REMEMBER THERE'S ONLY 8 more GWs until its over. Minus point hits are not good, especially if your transferring crap in just so you can field 11!

STICK TO THE PLAN - DON'T BE SEDUCED

Hmmmm. I think not having many DG34 players would be far more of a disaster than not having many DGW players. The guys not playing at all have a guarantee of zero but the guys only playing once in a DGW have 90 mins to make something happen for your team

Most teams playing GW34 are poor point providers. Most managers have 3 man u and 3 arsenal at the moment. Vorm in goal. There 7 playing. All of them have the potential for double figure points.
