It’s Monday night and champions Manchester United frequent our screens once more – this week away at struggling Blackburn Rovers. The Dugout Discussion opens to see Gameweek 31 wrap up, and the team news is in…

Blackburn XI: Robinson, Lowe, Dann, Grant Hanley, Martin Olsson, Orr, Pedersen, Nzonzi, Marcus Olsson, Hoilett, Yakubu.

Man Utd XI: De Gea, Rafael Da Silva, Evans, Ferdinand, Evra, Carrick, Scholes, Jones, Valencia, Hernandez, Rooney.

Steve Kean makes one change from the side that lost to Bolton, with Bradley Orr coming in for Mauro Formica.

Three changes for the visitors see Ryan Giggs, Ashley Young and Danny Welbeck all miss out to Phil Jones, Paul Scholes and Javier Hernandez.

The Dugout Discussion chatroom is open and can be accessed right here.

Been going through my history. Just realised that there has not been a single gameweek this season where I've had my highest scoring legal 11 on the pitch and my highest scoring player as captain.

Bored as I am watching this game, thought I'd go through and tot up all the missed points and couldn't believe it when it came out at 315. Enough to put me number 1 in the world by about a hundred points.

Not sure whether this is just pretty standard due to chance, or if I'm particularly unlucky, or if I'm just a pish manager.

Bloody annoying at any rate considering the amount of time I put in to it.

I thought of doing that a few days back and wondered if it would come out at number one but couldn't be bothered. My captain choices have certainly been spot off most of the time. I suspect anyone in the top 100,000 would come up with the same result.

No one gets every subs decision correct, even less often captaincy.

I'd say getting 60% of your potential captain points is a good enough return over the season, I worked out mine, I've got 49% of my potential points had I picked the best captain each week.

      366 vs 764

That looks like 398 points lost there from captaincy alone for me :/

Can't decide whether Rooney starts dropping deep to get the ball of his own accord or whether Fergie tells him to. Can't understand the logic behind it myself when he proved last season he can be lethal up front alone.

United are not the same team when he plays this way. It just encourages him to be lazy and spray the ball about without hurting teams. Get on the shoulder of Hanley the Pig and cause them some problems.

You don't want your best player hanging around the goal waiting for your second and third best players to pass the ball to him. Particularly when your midfield has been shown to be lacking. With Rooney dropping deep MU get the most out of him, they are more solid and ship less goals. Score less too but with the talent they have the others should be stepping up.

Not trying to be patronising. Your comment Just looked like the same old, 'my player isn't going to score enough points for me' stuff. Agree, it would be great to have Rooney up there banging them in. But Fergie thinks different and you've gotta respect a man like that. I don't think he's running scared, I think he well understands the weaknesses of his side and is giving them the best possible chance to win the title, as usual, by not leaking goals. Only my opinion of course.

            66-1.

            Mahan is 33-1.

Interestingly, Choi is 66-1 to be leader after the 1st round. I fancy a bit of that. He always starts well.

          Can't argue with that.

Backed Retief Goosen at 150/1 when he won the US Open. Don't think I've backed a winner since.

Here we go again then. As things stand, United are still just the three points clear at the top of the Premier League. They have got 45 minutes (plus fergie time of course) left at Ewood Park to get the win that would extend that lead to five points. 😆
