As we edge towards the conundrum that is Gameweek 34, our Watchlist rankings have enjoyed their weekly refresh and are available in the sidebar to your right. Both Sunderland and Swansea are prominent risers, with the Wearsiders, in particular, moving up – Simon Mignolet, Michael Turner, Stephane Sessegnon and Nicklas Bendtner are all afforded a leap in our estimations as we take stock of the upcoming set of fixtures…

Goalkeepers

While back-to-back defeats have seen Michel Vorm return blanks, the Dutchman remains on top of our keeper rankings by virtue of an enviable set of fixtures which will surely see fortunes turn. Coverage of the Swansea defence looks essential for the coming weeks, with Vorm and Steven Caulker both standout candidates.

Sunderland’s Simon Migonolet is the high climber, pushing Vorm for the top spot thanks to his own obliging fixtures, which hint at improved returns. The Belgian may not boast a double Gameweek but his schedule is strong and he rotates well with other assets – notably Stoke’s Asmir Begovic, who has two home fixtures in Gameweek 36, and Villa’s Shay Given, who offers a double the Gameweek before.

Both Given and Begovic feature highly in our thinking, as does Bolton’s Adam Bogdan. A regular in the Watchlist rankings in recent weeks, at just 4.0 in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, he comes into his own now with two double Gameweeks to follow – clean sheets may be at a premium but, with save points, Bogdan should still offer strong value when those four fixtures combine.

Defenders

The aforementioned Steven Caulker climbs to second spot in our defender rankings but even he is unable to dislodge Jonny Evans, who continues to look essential for United’s run-in. Only complacency setting in as a result of an early title win would seem likely to dent his potential.

The expensive attacking potential of Everton’s Leighton Baines and Arsenal’s Thomas Vermaelen remain in our top five. Despite a blank in Gameweek 34 and a trip to Old Trafford to follow, Baines’ double fixture in Gameweek 36 and outstanding form – 24 FPL points in his last two Gameweeks – balance this out.

Below this pairing, there are several intriguing budget options – namely Sunderland’s Michael Turner and Bolton’s David Wheater. While there are keepers available to cover their respective defences, the budget centre-back pairing look strong contenders in their own right. Wheater takes his set-piece goal threat into back-to-back double Gameweeks, while Turner has strong fixtures, including cover in Gameweek 34.

Vincent Kompany makes a return to the rankings but, with a trip to the Emirates up next and City’s confidence seemingly sapping as their title hopes dwindle, his prospects remain under review.

Midfielders

Gareth Bale continues to hold despite a goal drought that stretched to seven games with Sunday’s win over Swansea. Bale returned his third assist in five matches to keep things ticking over and is surely on the verge of registering a big score again, given his recent level of performance.

Antonio Valencia and Gylfi Sigurdsson are pushing him close, however. Both have outstanding form and fixtures and will surely be widely coveted as a result. They remain second and third, with Arsenal’s Theo Walcott also maintaining form to stay in our top five.

Stephane Sessegnon climbs to fifth place, edging out Fulham’s Clint Dempsey, who suffers a slight drop with his blank in Gameeek 34 looming. Dempsey has a trip to Bolton and a home clash with Chelsea before that, with a double in Gameweek 36 to come. Sunderland’s Sessegnon has strong form, however, and fixtures that offer good coverage over Gameweek 34 and beyond. Team-mate James McClean also enjoys a rise this week, heading a pack consisting of Hatem Ben Arfa and Bolton pairing Martin Petrov and Ryo Miyaichi, both of whom will surely benefit from at least three of the Trotters’ four fixtures over Gameweeks 35 and 36.

Forwards

Both Wayne Rooney and Robin Van Persie hold their top spots but find themselves under renewed pressure from Papiss Cisse. We anticipated continued returns from the Senegal striker by installing him in third last week and, having put Liverpool to the sword, he continues to rank highly. However, Emmanuel Adebayor climbs to third by virtue of his return to form in addition to strong fixtures, which rank slightly higher than the Newcastle man. Both are standout contenders for the third striker spot in our squads.

The pack that follows certainly represent gambles – possible differentials that could reap rewards. Sunderland’s Nicklas Bendtner epitomises this but, having returned four goals in five games, he carries strong form into a favourable run of fixtures. Swansea’s Danny Graham is your budget option – blessed with an obliging schedule but perhaps hampered by form that has failed to see him notch in his last six league outings.

Fernando Torres is the wildcard and perhaps the ultimate differential up front – still not certain of starts with European commitments and Didier Drogba an option, the Spaniard is showing glimpses of form, picking up his first bonus and double figure return of the season last weekend.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

this may sound weird but I'd bench siggy out of that lot. He is actually quite poor at home, much better away. I'm only saying that because the rest of your squad is so good.

      Tough decision.

To be fair though, the 4 was a sub appearance against Arsenal, 6 was vs Chelsea, 3 was vs City and 2 was against Everton who are in their annual late season surge.
Only 2 points vs Norwich was disappointing...

Schalke(Optimus) vs AZ(Count Of Monte Hristo)

Schalke qualified for the knockout stage with a record of 3 wins and 3 losses, but falling NINE points behind King Nil Miss✩ and his Maccabi Haifa side, who finished with a 100% recored.
AZ, managed by Count Of Monte Hristo won Group G via his superior Head-to-Head over E’s Eleven and his Austria Wien side. The Dutch sided recorded 4 wins and 2 losses during the group phase. AZ have a healthy looking side with Wilkinson being the only player questionable over his place in the side. Optimus’s Schalke side go into the game with only Santon being doubtful.

    Predicted Line-Ups:

Schalke: Vorm; Vermaelen, Evans, Enrique; Valencia, Bale, Walcott, Sigurdsson; Rooney, RVP, Suarez.

AZ: Schwarzer; Evans, Baines, Caulker/Ridgewell; Valencia, Bale, Walcott, Sigurdsson, Dempsey; Rooney, RVP.

Key Battles: Vermaelen vs Baines and Suarez vs Dempsey

    Prediction Away Win

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    PSG(King Eric) vs Club Brugge(Bora)

King Eric and his PSG side finished second in Group F, falling 3 points short of Group Winner Slovan Bratislava. Bora’s Belgian side Club Brugge face a difficult 1st Leg away to second seed King Eric, Club Brugge qualified as Group H winner ahead of Udit’s Birmingham City side due to him bettering Birmingham over the two legs. Geordie duo Ryan Taylor and Davide Santon are the only rotation risks in King Eric’s PSG side which sits a comfortable 1,077th in the world. Club Brugge have already made one change, most likely the transfer of Dempsey to Walcott.

    Predicted Line-Ups

PSG: Vorm; Evans, Vermaelen, R Taylor; Valencia, Dempsey, Sigurdsson, Bale; Rooney, RVP, Ba.

Club Brugge: Vorm; Evans, Shawcross, Skrtel, Valencia, Dempsey, Sigurdsson, Walcott; Rooney, RVP, Adebayor.

Who would you rather have out of Walcott and Valencia from next week onwards? (note: my rival has Valencia and I want to catch him)

Am I mad to consider Robert Huth instead of a Chelsea def (possible rotation) for the DGW and rest of the season? Just have a feeling that he could be a nice differential. Not the best fixtures but he could get a couple of clean sheets, goals or assists...Only 1 goal and 1 assist so far, 6 goals and 3 assists last season...

Does anyone think Fergie will sign anyone decent in the summer? He's moaning about how hard it is to pick a squad at he moment because he has so many players available(even with Fletch, Lindegaard, Owen and Anderson out). If he doesn't sign anyone Rooney may start to get unsettled again... Modric or Gotze perhaps?

we don't need modric, he'd cost far too much, clearly doesn't care about playing for us and the position he plays he wouldn't be much of a step up from carrick anyway, plus hopefully clev will be fit next year.

I don't think we have too many wingers considering fergie wants a team filled with pace and how flexible the likes of young/nani are in terms of playing either side or through the middle, so I could definitely see someone like hazard coming in along the same lines.

How about this for a GW 36 team. Will include an 8 pt hit.

    Bogdan
    Baines, Enrique, Kaboul
    Sess, Bale, Mata, Dempsey (Siggy),
    Cisse, Adebayor, Suarez

    Looks extremely tasty 🙂

THIS POST IS ONLY FOR ME TO BOOKMARK MY PLAN FOR GW 36 WITH A SMALL CHANGE, YOU DON'T NEED TO COMMENT. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.

I’ve been changing my long-term plans for GW 36, cause noen of them are working yet.

    GW 32:Save
    GW 33:Dempsey>VDV
    GW 34:Surman>Sessegnon
    GW 35:Rooney/RVP>Adebayor
GW 36:Walcott,Vermaelen,Schwarzer >Mata*, Baines, Cech for a 4 point hit.

Yohooo! I realised I can do my plan with one seingle hit and I can field 11 for GW 34.. Good plan for me.
    *Could be Lamps.

    GW 34 team:

    Mignolet(WOL)
    Caulker(BLA)-Vermaelen(WIG)-Evans(AVL)-McAuley(QPR)
    Valencia(AVL)-Sessegnon(WOL)-Siggy(BLA)-Walcott(WIG)
    Rooney(AVL)-RVP(WIG)

    GW 36 team:

    Cech(QPR,NEW)
    Baines(FUL,sto)-BAE(BLA,bol)-Caulker(WOL)
    Mata(QPR,NEW)-VDV(BLA,bol)-Siggy(WOL)-Sessegnon(BOL)
    RVP**(sto)-Adebayor(BLA,bol)-Cisse(che,wig)

    **Maybe Rooney(mci)

Sorry for the long post, but my plan is finalized for me.

    Cheers 🙂

Any reason why I should play Holt (EVE) over Dempsey (bol) apart from the fact that Dempsey is not so great away from home.

Since the Pog might not feature, he might get a role up front. Is it worth playing Demps over Holt?

Ba is near the bottom of the list of Newcastle players you would want to buy anyway.
Ba's price is going down tonight and will continue to plummet.

This GW 34 + GW36 situation is a tough one isnt it? Take a few hits to try and capatalise or take it easy and stick to original plan, as essentially all teams have the same amount of fixtures left to play.

I am about 80 points clear in my mini league but have been slowly getting caught, im pretty sure number 2 will be taking some big hits to try and catch. Not sure what the best way to go is.

My current plans for the next few weeks sees me having to bench siggie against qpr and bol. It doesn't feel right. Is this just a nice problem to have, or should I downgrade one one of my mids to a cheapie? Nowhere I really want to spend any funds I would make though.

It's not a nice problem to have.
They are two pretty awful teams and look at his away form! I'd say he is almost a captaincy option those two weeks.

Assuming you're keeping that front 8 I'd sooner bench Dempsey (CHE) in 33 and one of Cisse/HBA (STO) in 35
          But that is extremely tough.

I plan to get in Walcott for Dempsey next week. My dynamic duo (Dave + Barfa) have got me 50+ points over the past two games and brought me back into contention, so i'd be loathed to leave them out. Especially against stoke at home!

Anyone ever stuck to a long term plan?

    Conclusion, don't waste your time.

Nothing wrong with a long term plan. As long as you know that plan will likely change every week!!

      This squared.

I was just tidying my desk and found some notes from 3 weeks ago where I was going to ditch Papisse and acquire Young.

Trying to pick an Irish Times Fantasy Golf team for the Masters (Urindanger's fault). 10 million Euros to spend on 6 players.

    Currently got

    Mickelson
    Mahan
    Schwartzel
    Fisher

    €1.8 left for 2 players.

Any underdog names that spring to mind or maybe a couple of Yanks who will know the course well?

In theory if United win this weekend and Citeh lose United go 8 points clear, then if Citeh drop another two points(a draw) we would win the title before the Citeh game. Worth thinking about huh???

I think City will lose to Arsenal this week and the title could well be over before the derby or United needing a point from it.

Worth thinking about not having United players if the title is won before GW37 & 38.

        Rooney: 12, 6, 13, 13, 6
        Valencia: 5, 4, 7, 5, 3

Shane Long worth a punt for the rest of the season?

If so, worth a 4 point hit to do now (Pog)?

    Vorm
    Kelly S - Skrtel - Evans J
    Walcott (c) - Miyaichi - Valencia - Bale
    Pogrebnyak - Rooney - Van Persie (v)

    Ruddy - Enrique - McClean - Caulker
