A double-whammy later and the Paddy Power Cup VI is down to just 32 fantasy managers. Rounds three and four went by in a flash, with 64 fantasy managers taking part in 96 head-to-head fixtures. The most recent 32 of which can be accessed right here.

On with the fifth round then, and the draw has been made and the full set of match-ups are as follows…

As you can see, the third and four rounds had some major casualties including yours truly and the gaffer, Mark. We’re also guaranteed a new name on trophy, as none of the former winners are in the mix. Each and every one failed to record the four straight wins required to reach the fifth round.

The truncated Gameweek 34 rears it’s ugly head towards the remaining Paddy Power Cup participants, and I wish them the best of luck as they tackle it. The fifth round results will be available shortly after the Gameweek has concluded.

I think it's all about timing - to win you have to either play early when all the kids are at school, or play really late when everyone is drunk.

I was gonna carry 2 over but wouldn't know who to use my transfer on without weaking my team. It might mean one less dgw player, but I could always take a hit as will have lessened the 4pt hit through playing 11 this week.

He's got a history for flair picks such as Wheater (for his brace) and Jelavic (for his brace). Makes his scores very unpredictable - it's either way below average or way above.

Talking about me behind my back..........

Anyways the no of bolton players is crucial for the dgw35. The fixtures aren't that great that week for the other teams (most play away), and it could go low scoring. Hence the bolton players whom I expect will give me 18 points cumulative during gw35.

Btw I am surprised you don't know I transferred in this week. Anyways I think you did Enrique->Kompany/Turner this week. Hopefully that is all, so that should give me an upper hand this week. Of course, goes without saying, the captain pick is crucial.

They are trying to make the course safer, especially after last year. Ground will be softer to so that should slow the pace down a little.

    What do you reckon guys?

GW34 Bale > Silva in order to play 7 attackers this week
    then Silva/Walcott > Bale in GW35

    OR

do nothing and save a couple of trannies???

Don’t see 2 transfers being worth it just to get Silva for one (tough?) away game. I don’t know if I’d rather be able to get a couple of DGWers in…

That's what I'm doing but I wouldn't be getting bale back in until gw36, if at all. Although unlucky, he's not in good form fol wise. If silva plays both matches he has to do something, especially away at wolves! I also fancy walcott against a chelsea team just off the back of two tough CL games.

I did Silva > Walcott last week after having Silva since GW2 and I want Dempsey, Bale and Walcott for the rest of the season. It's a real tough call and I'd ideally have all 4!

However you look at the fixtures, City have 3 away games in 5 and one of their home games is against Utd. Tough call getting rid of one of Bale/Dempsey/Walcott and wasting transfers getting them back in.

I got rid of dempsey and lost 3 goals on him so wasn't best move. Doubt I'll get him back in now. Hope the same thing doesn't happen with Bale but would only likely be away at QPR. I was happy to just field 11 but as mentioned above I can't see who I'd ship out next week that would't give me a worse team. Only maybe walcott > mata but that seems pointless, especially as mata could pick up an injury before dgw. It's a tough call but think I'm gonna worry about the here and now and just see what I can do with the dgw when it comes. If that means taking another hit or two then so be it.

              Yeah fair enough.

Don't want to get rid of Dempsey or Bale for the same reason (I was really close to doing Dempsey > Walcott/Valencia a couple of weeks back)

Think I'll sit tight and keep my transfer since the players I want to get rid are (IMO) must-haves for the last 4 GWs.

Kelly > Gibbs (if fit) for my freebie is another option but I don't know if Gibbs will play all of his games and I fancy having Kelly in GW35 & 37

I was gonna do kelly > kompany, that was my original transfer, but I can compfortably field 3 defenders next gw and I can't imagine going into city's game vs wolves without any of their attackers. While their away form hasn't been up to scratch they could easily score 4/5 that game. Just hope the new age tinker man, mancini, doesn't decide to rest silva before man utd. There's 8 days until that game though so should be ok.

Just looking at closest challenger in ML and he has been riding his luck for a long time now with De Laet, Hilario in a small playing squad, afraid chickens coming home to roost this weekend unless he goes hit crazy when you throw in Raylor, Krul, BAE, Demps and Yaya carrying a knock 🙂

Almost want him to make hits for people so he takes out some of his dgw players

Guys v nervous about GW 36 because guy 50 pts behind me in ML still has WC so will field 11 DGWers. At the moment I have 10 for this week and 7 DGWers for 36, so presume not worth bringing in Turner/Bardsley to field 11 since better to have extra DGWer? Am I right or is i better to pick up the 6 pts for what should be a Sunderland cleanie?

I always play whats in front of me, alot can change from now to GW36 with injuries, cup finals etc so IMO I'd be playing this week for the 6 points if you think you can get them, and H to Wolves is about as likely as it gets at present

I'm going for having the points in bag rather than extra DGW'er.

No defenders at 4.3 or 4.8 really that look good for the DGW to me.

    A few thoughts here please

    Current team is

    Krul/Bogdan
G Johnson, Richards, Vermaelen, J Evans, Kelly
    Bale, Walcott, Valencia, Siggy, Ryo
    RVP, Rooney, Bendtner

    My current transfer plans are

    a) A simple FT of Kelly > Caulker/Turner (I don't like Kelly's DGW fixtures).

    b) A 4 point hit to go Richards and Ryo > Turner/Caulker and Sess

I currently have 9 for the weekend, but Bendtner is a doubt since I got him in and Richards especially is a rotation risk (maybe Rooney, Valencia, Walcott, Siggy but any being rotated would be suprising for the most part now).

I feel a lack of Bendy against Wolves and missing out on Sess could cost.

None of the transfers look appealing. I'd save the FT and use it on an extra DGW player. No point getting a sunderland defender or Caulker for a hit imo

I'd be looking at it as getting in Sess for the hit.

G Johnson and Vermaelen are playing the DGW for me anyway, so only one sub spot available.

Turner at home to Bolton is as good as any for that week.

The only DGW midfielder currently tempting me in these kind of price ranges is Pienaar at £7mil. All others are big hitters. The same goes for defenders.

So you don't think the effective Richards to Sess is worth the -4.

Norwich rarely fail to score (especially at home).

So effectively I see it as Sess will probably need to get more than 4 more attacking points than Richards.

Plus Richards has the potential for a 0 or 1.

So much can happen between now and then, having possibly 6 this week will massively hurt.
Injuries, rotation, FA Cup results will all change things by then.

True. I guess I'm hoping there won't be many 'extra' points in the bag this week and that there will be plenty of 'extra' points in GW36. Anything can happen its FF. Nothing is set in stone. I need differentials anyway, I will captain Rooney this week and hopefully he will have a stormer. Not many will captain him and it might help me keep up with the scores this week. Chances are this whole idea will be a massive flop though

For a defender by the way so would need a 4pt from a def to break even - essentially cant see the value in it for the risk of losing 0-4pts with max gain of 2 pts if they keep a clean sheet.

I wouldn't take a hit for defender unless they offer an attacking threat also (Verm, or a cheeky punt on Rafael are probably the only contenders for that this week).

Similar here. Strong lineup all at home for me. GW34 could be great for making up ground.

I have 10 at home with the other being silva away at norwich once I've made my transfer. I'll think about the dgw when it comes. Think people are being blinded by it too much. Could be loads of rotation and some players people bring in might not even play both games. It's a no brainer to bring someone in this week to field 11 imo. Speculate to accumlate I say!!

Do people not realise that 1 game over 0 games (gw34), is no different really to 2 games over 1 game (gw36)!?

Yeah its exactly the same. The GW34 approach (11 players) will win this week but the DGW36 approach (lots of DGWers) will win in GW36

        Yes, of course they do.
But rotation for the DGW is extremely likely, as well as injuries between now and then.
Bird in hand and all that..

No I'm in favour of fielding 11 this gw and that's what I'm doing. I was more meaning the players going into it with 9/10 or even less players. I'd be doing what I could to get as many out this week as poss.

Is bringing in Sess for GW34 and shipping him out for Demps for GW35 a good move or a bad move in your honest opinions?
Would be playing with only 10 in GW34 otherwise.

Doesn't interest me now west ham have dropped off. I put a bet on before season started: Man Utd to Win Premier League, City to Premier League win (without Man Utd Chelsea), West Ham to win championship and Celtic to win SPL. Would have brought £400 for a tenner, with West Ham only team to let me down. They could have bloody walked it as well if home form had have been better!

They start with -1 goal handicap so have to win by 2 gols for bet to win, i.e. 2-0 or 3-1.

So you think the only team who won't score will be Aston Villa? When predicting scores always predict fewer goals than you initially think as they rarely come off 😉

    Mignolet

    Onouha - Kompany - Evans - Caulker

    Sessgnon - Valencia - Walcott - Sigurdsson

    Rooney - Van Persie (c)

    No bench effectively

Why on earth did you not captain Henry? That MLS game also awards defensive and attacking bonuses how are they worked out? You also missed the DGW 😉

Nice team but 11 isn't tekkers it's more the luck of how your team was structured when the games disappeared imo.
