A double-whammy later and the Paddy Power Cup VI is down to just 32 fantasy managers. Rounds three and four went by in a flash, with 64 fantasy managers taking part in 96 head-to-head fixtures. The most recent 32 of which can be accessed right here.

On with the fifth round then, and the draw has been made and the full set of match-ups are as follows…

As you can see, the third and four rounds had some major casualties including yours truly and the gaffer, Mark. We’re also guaranteed a new name on trophy, as none of the former winners are in the mix. Each and every one failed to record the four straight wins required to reach the fifth round.

The truncated Gameweek 34 rears it’s ugly head towards the remaining Paddy Power Cup participants, and I wish them the best of luck as they tackle it. The fifth round results will be available shortly after the Gameweek has concluded.

Is Vermaelen worth bringing in for this GW? A few of you think Wigan will score at least once. Or do you fancy Verm at the other end to grab a goal?

    No NEW injuries for United:

"We have no injuries from Wednesday. That’s probably the only thing we’ve taken out of the game. We did the right thing resting Paul Scholes – he'll play on Sunday. He's shown his influence since he came back."

This is my squad for this week. Not sure if it's worth bringing in someone else to make 11. I have one FT and 0.2m in the bank:

    Vorm
    Caulker Evans Verm
    Valencia Walcott Siggs McClean
    RVP (c) Rooney

    Bench: BAE Suarez Simpson Miyaichi

I'm thinking Simpson out for Turner or maybe an Aston Villa defender.

    Any help at all?

I'm in a similar position, considering Turner, though I do have Migs in goal...
Slightly tempted to save, as now many decent CS options this week.

MLS fantasy, extra rules, I would love it if these were incorporated in FPL!

    Attacking Bonus

Players will score extra points for positive play:
1 point for every 3 crosses (A cross is defined where the ball is played to their own player in the penalty area)
1 point for every 3 key passes (A key pass is one that leads to a shot at goal)
1 point for every big chance created (A big chance is one where the analyst determines the player should score)
-1 point for every big chance missed

    Defending Bonus

Players will also score extra points for good defending:
1 point for every 6 clearances, blocks or interceptions
1 point for every 6 recovered balls
-1 point for every error leading to a goal

Much MUCH better bonus system than ours and it links will with the ICT Index it seems. Scouts should throw these rules at FPL imo.

It's good, but think there would still be arguments over certain facts.

"Big chances" and "error leading to a goal" are the ones where I think people would be kicking off at times.

I take it these are just extra points though, rather than a bonus system?

I would like it as at the moment it is harsh when a defender who's had a shocker and the other defenders keeper have saved their arse, but then providing their attacking players scored and nicked the BAP's then, they have the exact same score.

        Vorm
        Verm, Evans, Caulker, Turner
        Valencia, Siggy, McClean
        RVP, Rooney, (gaping hole)

No fixture: Begovich, Bale, Dempsey, Cisse, BAE

I reckon a 4 point hit for Aguero will not cause very much instability in my team. It will give me one less DGWer for the big XXXVI though

Don't if Aguero doesn't end up doing anything this week, you would have taken a 4 pt hit, and will end up using the transfer next week to get cisse back in.

      Bad move!

It sounds bad move when looking it on the span of 3 weeks.. Another transfer will be used to get Cisse back if he's still in form. Anyway, it'll be a real smart move if Aguero bags more handful points over Gw34-35.

In conclusion, it's worth to gamble if you like to.. 🙂

Right guys...I have a team, I have a plan and I have a question...Would you guys look at it and let me know your thoughts?

    Team:
    Krul, Mignolet
    BAE, Kompany, Simpson, Caulker, Evans
    Bale, Valencia, McClean, Sig, Walcott
    RVP, Rooney, Cisse

2.9 in the bank and 2 free transfers available.

    Plan:
    GW34 - No transfer (Losing a free)
    GW35 - Walcott to Dempsey
GW36 - Kompany and McClean to ShawX/Huth and Pienaar

    Question:
I only have 10 starting for GW34. Should I sell Cisse (losing 0.1) and buy Yakubu to field 11? I will then continue with my plan for the double and most likely take a 4pt knock to get Cisse back in. So Yak is a one gameweek horse for me.

My rival will only have 9 or so players for GW34 (hopefully) and isn't really setup for the double. I don;t think he plans as far ahead as I do and may have started late in his thinking for the double. I'm obviously looking to gain ground on him sooner rather than waiting for the double to try shoot past him which is why I'm considering the Yak move now. If not, I will have to lose the free transfer as I don't want to mess with my teams outside of the plan (if I can help it).

So what do you guys think? And what about my transfer plans/options?

    Thanks

How about Simpson out for a def? His d/g fixtures aren't likely to yield many points anyway, seems silly to lose a free if you have it to burn.

is the Yak worth a transfer to remove Cisse who plays Stoke (who dont travel well) in GW35 only to take a hit to get him back in for the DGW??? I am guessing that if you dont do that, by GW37 you will be better off points wise.

I think think your other planned transfers are decent.

Removing any of the double guys means I field 7 for the double (without hits). Newcastle have been resilient all season and my hand weakens when I click the Simpson out option (haha).

As for the Yak...it will be a 1 GW option and a knock to bring Cisse back in for Stoke along with my Walcott to Dempsey option.

Removing Bale instead of Walcott...that's a tough one...Bale hasn't been great but he does have potential to do something (but so does Walcott I guess)...arg....my head is going to explode...

Thanks for all the responses though...I appreciate the feedback.

Also...if Yak gets 2pts...and I take a 4pt knock to get Cisse back in (which doesn't play this gameweek anyway) means it would only be a 2pt knock as such...as I would never have had the Yak points anyway...if he scores...I gain 2 pts...hmmm...still 2pts though...

    So young > sess?

    Current team

    Migs, Krul
    Evans, caulker, verm, cahill, Simpson
    Young, mcclean, siggy, Walcott, demps,
    Rvp, rooney, Dave cisse.
