Man United XI: De Gea, Rafael, Ferdinand, Evans, Evra, Valencia, Carrick, Scholes, Young, Welbeck, Rooney.

Villa XI: Given, Hutton, Collins, Baker, Lichaj, Bannan, Ireland, Clark, Gardner, Weimann, Agbonlahor.

As expected, Sir Alex Ferguson restores Paul Scholes to his starting line-up in place of Ryan Giggs. There’s also recalls for Rafael and Danny Welbeck, with Phil Jones and Javier Hernandez dropping to the bench.

Alex McCleish is without the injured duo of Stephen Warnock and Chris Herd, so there are starts for both Gary Gardner and Ciaran Clark.

      I think it depends on Summer, Arsenal need some big buys to keep him I reckon. He won't leave for Spain (unless Real offer a ridiculous price for him) and he won't go to city (we've all seen what happens to good strikers who go to City cough cough Dzeko) RVP wouldn't suit the City structure either.

    Back to the winning formula, rafael, Scholes, wellbe seem to make a differance, if utd score early I really fear for villa- this is as poor a villa team I've ever seen, it needs 4/5 players IMO.

        Tbf bent gives you 15 + goals and he was their main threat in that team but it's a bad state of affairs when you can't cope without one of your bigger players.

      Scholes easy. Both great but we can all see how much scholes is valued in this team. We need him to play in all our games at his age.

      But you can see the massive impact Scholes has had this season. Giggs is brilliant as a player, great thinking and really top quality ability. Scholes is the person who makes it all click though. He's the link between attack and defence. This season, I'd rather have a United without Ryan Giggs than a United without Paul Scholes.
