With their city rivals making a statement at Carrow Road yesterday, the Sunday Dugout Discussion opens to see if league leaders Manchester United can hold their nerve and restore a five point lead at home to Aston Villa. It’s the only Premier League game taking place today, and the team news for the encounter is in…

Man United XI: De Gea, Rafael, Ferdinand, Evans, Evra, Valencia, Carrick, Scholes, Young, Welbeck, Rooney.

Villa XI: Given, Hutton, Collins, Baker, Lichaj, Bannan, Ireland, Clark, Gardner, Weimann, Agbonlahor.

As expected, Sir Alex Ferguson restores Paul Scholes to his starting line-up in place of Ryan Giggs. There’s also recalls for Rafael and Danny Welbeck, with Phil Jones and Javier Hernandez dropping to the bench.

Alex McCleish is without the injured duo of Stephen Warnock and Chris Herd, so there are starts for both Gary Gardner and Ciaran Clark.

The Dugout Discussion chatroom can be accessed right here, and will remain open the duration of today’s football, including the FA Cup tie between Tottenham and Chelsea.

My very early scout picks predictions for GW 35:

    Joe Hart
    Richards-Kompany-Lescott-Clichy
    Barry-Toure-Silva-Nasri

In fairness, I'm going to give all credit to Fergie. How he has managed this team to get anywhere near the top still baffles me. Scholes gets a mention too.

That's actually a very real possibility. Fergie won't have forgotten Rooneys contract antics 2 years ago but maybe he is looking ahead without him. They need to look elsewhere.

They really do. Yeah the whole acting up by Rooney won't be forgotten, no player has ever done that to Fergie and gotten away with it. I think he'll get rid of him. It's just like Beckham.

Absolutely no regret doing Rooney > Tevez for next weekend. Rooney is playing some very poor passes and losing the ball very cheaply, seems likely he's only able to score from the spot

I reckon he will. Mancini has been progressively increasing his game time to build match fitness. I don't see why he would rest him. Barring injury, he should play.

Which option or options are better?

    Sess------Dempsey (vs Wigan then DGW)
    Valencia----Dempsey
    Rooney----aguero/tevez

Really losing faith in man u at the moment but and with city in rampant form with wolves next it looks like a no brainer. If sess cannot score against wolves I figure he's not worth keeping.

When Valencia returned from injury I refused to get him as I was convinced he would be rotated.

True to my principles I got him two weeks ago. Ok i was wrong about the rotation but I still wish I had stuck with my principles and kept Dempsey.
