With their city rivals making a statement at Carrow Road yesterday, the Sunday Dugout Discussion opens to see if league leaders Manchester United can hold their nerve and restore a five point lead at home to Aston Villa. It’s the only Premier League game taking place today, and the team news for the encounter is in…

Man United XI: De Gea, Rafael, Ferdinand, Evans, Evra, Valencia, Carrick, Scholes, Young, Welbeck, Rooney.

Villa XI: Given, Hutton, Collins, Baker, Lichaj, Bannan, Ireland, Clark, Gardner, Weimann, Agbonlahor.

As expected, Sir Alex Ferguson restores Paul Scholes to his starting line-up in place of Ryan Giggs. There’s also recalls for Rafael and Danny Welbeck, with Phil Jones and Javier Hernandez dropping to the bench.

Alex McCleish is without the injured duo of Stephen Warnock and Chris Herd, so there are starts for both Gary Gardner and Ciaran Clark.

The Dugout Discussion chatroom can be accessed right here, and will remain open the duration of today’s football, including the FA Cup tie between Tottenham and Chelsea.

The sad thing is we have probably been watching 3 of England's main front 4 struggle to take apart the likes of Villa, QPR, Wigan and Fulham in the last few weeks.

What chance do we stand against Europe's finest?

Not saying we did, it's just depressing when you think about just how bad it's looking.

Rooney is our 'best' player and having watched him in the last few games the fact we're going to be in such a 'desperate position' without him available just tells us how dire it all is.

And then there's the sticky situation in the defence with Terry/Ferdinand.

Having Parker in there though is a positive.

Parker is a plus, like him as a player. Yeah a lot of English woes need ironing out. Meanwhile in Ireland we're trying to convince out idiot manager that McLean should be there.

I am being impartial. I've been saying that the QPR one definitely was a dive with no foul. This is one with a foul. First contact is the defender. Second one is young making contact with him. First contact is still a foul. Don't like how Young acted at all, dislike him as a player but it was contact in the box off the ball and in front of the ref.

First one is Young's right foot which is clipped, not standing on his toes. Second one is his left foot kicking his leg which was Young's fault.

We need a huge squad overhaul in the summer if we ever want to win the champions league
The league we could probably win every year if we continue getting decision like we have bee for the past 2 seasons

Rooney isnt the player the media make him out to be and the likes of Nani Young are very inconsistent
Valenica is our best player by a country mile and need to work out how to involve him more

Evra Ferdinand are getting worse every season

We need new fulllbacks still undecided on the twins defending ability against good wingers
New centre mids Carrick is still largely anonymous and uninfluential and we cant rely on Scholes and Giggs next season

And another top striker Welbeck and hernandez are nowhere near good enough for United

Sell Rooney, sell Young, buy a central midfielder, buy a better striker (RVP will do nicely) get Vidic back to strengthen up the backs, give Fabio some time in Evra's position (he's much better than Rafa), Rio isn't too bad, Hernandez is a good striker just needs more time, sell Welbeck and another young striker in.

It could be argued that Young committed the foul by standing on the defender'd foot. Yorke is a tw@t if he can't see that Young is a cheat of the lowest order.......

Umm.. Both United goals came from the left in 1st half. Hope the game switch to another side in 2nd half.

Thing with Suarez is he is a cheater but he admits it. Young however continues to defend himself. P.S Drogba doesnt dive anymore and I'm a UNited fan admitting that
