The Dugout Discussion opens for the concluding fixture of Gameweek 34, which sees 17th placed Wigan Athletic travel down the 3rd placed Arsenal. The team news for the game is in, and the sides line-up as follows…

Arsenal XI: Szczesny, Sagna, Djourou, Vermaelen, Andre Santos, Song, Arteta, Walcott, Rosicky, Benayoun, van Persie.

Wigan XI: Al Habsi, Alcaraz, Caldwell, Figueroa, Boyce, McCarthy, McArthur, Beausejour, Moses, Di Santo, Gomez.

A single change from the side that brushed Wolves aside for the Gunners, as Tomas Rosicky comes in for Aaron Ramsey in midfield.

Despite condemning Manchester United to only their fourth defeat of the season, Shaun Maloney isn’t in the visitors squad. Jordi Gomez replaces the Malaysian born Scot.

The Dugout Discussion chatroom is open and can be accessed right here.

It's a huge risk but it could turn to huge rewards...got to take the risks in this game though. I know Rooney got 2 goals but I feel he won't get any against Everton. If it screws up I'm an idiot and have done it wrong...but it's made it fun 😀

well then might as well just keep Walcott then. i really want him till the end of season but id really love to fit VDV in my team somewhere. the only options is to ship out one of Walcott/Valencia. leaning towards Walcott as i dont have Rooney.

If you really want VDV then shipping Wally is the best call I think. I'm sticking clear of VDV just yet, I know he's playing a bit better but I'm not convinced of Spurs any more, I think they're tired.

Seen as there out of FA Cup & Piennar been instrumental since loan switch I would think he could possibly be on of the first names on the team sheet, going back to Spurs in 4 games why rest him? Chelsea have quailty players to replace Mata... Lamps, Meirelies & to a lesser extent Kalou & Malouda. I could be horribly wrong!

Ah take your time then mate 😉 The whole adventure is way ahead of you. What I'll say is try and get a few little work placements all over the place, in all sorts of areas. That'll definitely help give you a better idea of what you'd like. Either way though, an engineering degree is still a great degree to have!

Always a tough call, it's a very good degree to have but I know right now it's not paying off to have one. I had the choice to do a Music degree (went through all these entrance exams etc.) but at the end of the day, even if I love music, it just wouldn't lead me anywhere.

I've my degree for 15 years but just never wanted to be an Engineer - only kept at it because ppl kept telling me it was a great degree to have....it's really important to go down a path you genuinely have an interest in. yes, i'm still happy i stuck at it and got my degree, but just wish i'd been more mature at the time to really really think about it, rather than listening to the "it's a great degree to have/it'll stand to you in the long run/Engineers can do anything" horseshit I got whenever I questioned it. Anyways, all i'm really saying is it's important to be happy in what you're doing

Haha I get you completely Icon! Sure I'm in Science but the long term goal is Medicine, I've only discovered that recently though. Before I could have went into medicine since I had the option but I honestly didn't know how I felt about it. A few years of maturing has helped me get my head straight and realise what I want 🙂 It's always important to be happy in your work!

Your probably better off with the engineering degree than a landscape architecture degree. I cant see any of our architects actually doing anything productive with their lives.

An engineering general foundation year is a great thing. You can test it out for a year, choose a specialism, whilst actually being in a position to know what your letting yourself in for. Also, you can get your partying and youth rebelling out of the way in what is a much easier year.

Obviously I am gonna say that Civil engineering is the way forward as a student myself.

It depends what you want really.

Small scale or moving parts = mechanical eng

Large scale jack of all trades = Civil/Structural

      Theoretical problems = electrical

There are also many others more specialised, materials, services, product design etc

Ask me anything you want as I will probably be able to answer a fair amount.

was previously thinking of squeezing baines and adebayor in for dgw…however with aguero’s form picking up and roonpig scoring a couple whilst off form, plans have changed.

Is this the best gw 36 team that i can muster without taking a hit? (will use 2fts to do mcclean+kompany>barfa+skrtel) bearing in mind i want to still have a decent team til the end of season

do you guys have other suggestions? cheers

Walcott to hba or Rvp to aguero/tevez. Rvp might come back and bite me on the ass if I get rid like it did at Stamford bridge last October in the 5-3 win. My ml lead down from 102 to 80 odd by virtue of having Rvp captain this week.

If he did not have pens, I would not have even considered. He has like 1,5 shots per game all coming from long distance.

Having watched the last few Wigan performances, Martinez has really got them buzzing and whilst the formation didnt seem to work, his belief is again paying dividends. Fair play whilst they still lack a real striker threat they have created a raft of chances and Martinez deserves credit for sticking to his principles.

Martinez is also responsible for the way Swansea still play today, whilst taking nothing from Brendan Rogers, the philosophy that Martinez brought to the Club, has remained and the coaches still rave about him, particularly from the Academy & Youth teams who are still training & playing the Martinez way.

He could do a good a great job for a bigger club and Spurs could be taken to the next level under his management.

I know nothing about his contribution to Swansea, but I love that Martinez. He did commentary during the World Cup and he struck me as quite intelligent and personable. Great to see he seems to have created his own 'Great Escape' this year.

He knows the game and articulates very well. I attended a coaching course he was speaking & demonstrating at few years ago - he was superb.

I think Wigan as a club is a waste of an EPL spot as they have not got a fan base to care enough but he has managed to drag them away from relegation the last two years, on a soe string budget, selling best players and yet continued to play a brand of football that most tv pundits has been critical of as the players are not deemed good enough to play that way!!

Mignolet is my 2nd keep also, was going to play Schwarzer this week but i'm not so sure anymore. Aston Villa have looked pretty toothless up-front for awhile now so maybe Mignolet is the better choice....?

Yeah Wigan look a really tough proposition now and I definitely see them asking questions of the Fulham defence. Sunderland are very resilient and like you say Villa lack and real goal threat atm. Still undecided but leaning towards Mignolet.

Rooney, RVP ➡ Tevez, Cisse (already have Aguero)

RVP 1 goal from pen in last 6 games, not looking good at all, don't see him exploding this year again, but he'll score another one or two for sure.
