Wayne Rooney grabs a double as United stutter in an eight-goal thriller with Everton. Nikica Jelavic and Steven Pienaar pop up on Fantasy radars ahead of the Toffees’ double Gameweek, Sergio Aguero notches on the road for the second week running, while Liverpool’s woeful league form continues with a home defeat by West Brom.

Wayne Rooney
Despite a run of eight goals in his previous five home appearances, the United forward was sold by more than 24,000 Fantasy managers ahead of yesterday’s clash with former club Everton. Rooney made them regret that move, bagging a brace (and the maximum bonus) against the Toffees to take his tally to 26 goals for the campaign, equalling his best ever Premier League haul. With many Fantasy managers now pondering a reshuffle of their front line ahead of double Gameweek 26, both Rooney and Robin Van Persie are the main men most likely to be moved on, though with Rooney scoring six in the last seven Gameweeks compared to the Dutchman’s one, the United man is clearly the man in form of the two. With his contribution key to his side’s chances of retaining the title, many will be thinking twice over selling him, with next week’s crucial trip to City followed by (SWA, sun).

Danny Welbeck
The forward picked up only his second double-figure points haul of the campaign yesterday, after scoring and providing a pair of assist against the Toffees. Welbeck has now overtaken Javier Hernandez in the Fantasy rankings – priced at 6.5 in comparison to the Mexican’s 9.9 he has proven to be a decent cut-option and is the top-ranked United attacking player in terms of value over the course of the season so far.

Nani
Having climbed off the bench to notch against Villa last time out, Nani was handed a starting role against the Toffees, with Ashley Young only making the bench after picking up a knock against his former club. The winger served a reminder of the form that saw him last season’s top-scoring Fantasy Premier League (FPL) player by grabbing a goal and a couple of assists in yesterday’s 4-4 thriller – a worrying sign for Young’s 10% Fantasy owners, with the Portuguese star staking a strong claim for a starting role on the left for next Monday’s visit to the Etihad.

Nikica Jelavic
Yesterday’s brace at Old Trafford is set to get the bandwagon roaring ahead of Everton’s pair of upcoming fixtures. Priced at a bargain 5.9, with an ownership of under 3%, the Croatian looks an outstanding differential candidate ahead of the home game with Fulham and trip to Stoke. Jelavic has now scored six goals in six starts for the Toffees and, with a match away to Wolves in Gameweek 37, the schedule ahead looks more than a little kind.

Steven Pienaar
The on-loan midfielder continued his impressive recent form since returning to Merseyside in January with a goal in yesterday’s draw. Pienaar has now produced attacking returns in each of his last four Gameweeks, with two goals and three assists helping him average over eight points per game. The Toffees seems an altogether different side going forward with the likes of Pienaar and Jelavic in David Moyes’ first XI – they have scored 14 goals between Gameweek 30-35, equalling their tally from the previous fourteen matches. While Marouane Fellaini also caught the eye with a goal and assist contribution, Pienaar’s consistency looks the strongest route into the Toffees midfield with the double Gameweek in mind.

Everton Defence
Moyes sprung a surprise in light of Leighton Baines’ hamstring absence, naming Sylvain Distin at left-back, with Phil Jagielka and Johnny Heitinga in the centre of defence. While Tony Hibbert picked up the points with a pair of assists, it’s worth noting that he had provided just two over his previous 27 appearances, suggesting he’ll struggle to replicate such form. At 4.6, nevertheless, he looks a decent cut-price route into a defence that had conceded in only one of their previous four, prior to their visit to Old Trafford.

Sergio Aguero and Carlos Tevez
With many expecting a Molineux goalfest, the pair were each drafted in by 70,000 Fantasy managers ahead of the trip to Wolves. In the end, Aguero’s owners had to settle for a single goal – his fifth in the last three Gameweeks. The 2-0 win, combined with United’s draw, puts City’s title bid firmly back in their own hands – three wins will almost certainly now clinch the title, given their superior goal difference to United’s. With this in mind, owners of Aguero have a real dilemma ahead of the double Gameweek – given that he’s failed to produce attacking returns in just two of his fourteen Etihad appearances, there’s every chance he’ll get amongst the points against United in a week’s time and, with a trip to Newcastle followed by a home clash with QPR, the potential for points looks promising as City go all-out for points. Tevez picked up an assist, bringing his points haul to 31 since returning to the first-team in Gameweek 35 and surely looks likely to continue against his former club next week, with suspension-free Mario Balotelli likely to be consigned to the bench.

Samir Nasri
While David Silva failed to flatter and lasted just 58 minutes, the former Arsenal man clinched victory with his side’s second and picked up the maximum bonus. Nasri has cemented a place in Roberto Mancini’s first team over the past few months, missing only one of the last nine games due to injury. His recent home form has taken an upturn – with a nine point return in each of his last two at the Etihad, he could be an overlooked differential over the remaining three games, with those two home fixtures against United and QPR to follow.

Peter Odemwingie
West Brom may have only scored two goals over the last couple of Gameweek, but the Nigerian has played a significant part. Odemwingie grabbed the only goal of the game at Anfield as Roy Hodgson recorded back-to-back 1-0 wins – he also provided the assist for Graham Dorrans last time out in the home win over QPR. While the Baggies may be safe from the drop, they are proving to be a reliable source of points and, with Villa and Bolton up next, are afforded further opportunity to produce before a tricky final day home clash with Arsenal.

Liverpool Form
With Daniel Agger back in the starting line-up, Kenny Dalglish rolled out his first-choice back-four for the visit of West Brom, suggesting rotation may not be his main concern ahead of the double Gameweek and FA Cup Final. The likes of Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll also started, with the Reds boss confirming Steven Gerrard missed out altogether as nothing more than a precautionary measure. Their woeful league form continued, though, and, with one clean sheet and two wins in the last 10 Gameweeks, many Fantasy managers will be reluctant to load up on their assets ahead of the upcoming pair of matches against Norwich and Fulham.

anyone think that a player should be allowed to express his religious beliefs on a tshirt after scoring? i know players bless themselves , look to the sky or get blessed by other players(!)etc, those are more personal but i think its a bit out of hand when a player runs to the crowd with god is great on a tshirt like pienaar yesterday… i think thats shoving something down peoples throats without them asking for it tbh..

        There's a difference.

praying requires a certain belief in faith and the actions of a God.

Pray4Muamba was definitely a message with a religious tint that should not be pushed on to people.

Don't see it as a "shoving it down your throat" type action.

Its his belief and somthing that gives him his drive.

I see it as no different to someone having a christian symbol on the back of their car or someone walking down the street in a Burka.

Or are these things too "shoving it down your throat"

Yes you could say there is a double standard but thats determined by how offensive it is for particular sides and cultures. So long as it isn't deemed as "really offensive" then I think it is fine. Just as we respect certain cultures then surely we can respect/tolerate certain beliefs so long as those beliefs aren't too inflammatory as saying "there is no God".

        How absurd!!

Why should it be less inflammatory saying "there is a god" than "there is no God"??? Surely, to an atheist, its just as offensive saying there is a god?

Or is it just that atheists are more reasonable, and are expected to tolerate religiosity a whole lot more (than religious people can tolerate atheism)???

In my opinion if you think "there is no God" is unpalatable, then please dont tell me "God is Great" is OK!!

And yes there is a discrepancy in what can be tolerated but I imagine not many footballers would pull out the "there is no God" shirt in front of thousands of fans. So really its a ridiculous argument to compare. As a whole all of society should be tolerant of each others beliefs and I have no problem with what Pienaar did.

Impossible to say, unfortunately. 2 trades represents an 8 point hit (on the assumption you could use them elsewhere). Even if Rooney does nowt, Jello needs to grab 3 in his 2 games for you to be in profit. Stoke away, one wouldn't expect much, maybe a goal at best. So this leaves you needing 2 goals at home to Fulham.

Unless you are chasing a lead, I wouldn't do it.

    Krul, Vorm
    Vermaelen, BAE, Enrique, Evans, Caulker
    Walcott, Dempsey, Valencia, Sigurdsson, McClean

    {Disclaimer: I am a Bogdan owner}

Is there any chance that FPL will review the number of saves credited to a keeper? I know it's probably based on stats from the Press Association, but what if it's wrong (like many assists that have been wrongly given/ not given this season)?

Having watched the MOTD highlights of the Bolton-Swansea match, in my opinion Bogdan made at least 3 saves, but he has only been credited with 2 on FPL.

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post a link to the specific MOTD highlight video, but here are the saves with timestamp:

    - 4 min 08 sec into the video: Bogdan saves a direct free kick from Sigurdsson.

    - 4 min 48 sec into the video: Bogdan saves from a Danny Graham shot following a through pass from Sigurdsson.

    - 6 min 29 sec into the video: Bogdan saves from a Danny Graham shot (again from a Sigurdsson pass).

It's probably too much effort all to gain 1 point, but it's very tight in my minileague, and every little helps!

Anyone? Bogdan owners like Mark? 🙂 I can post the link to the video if it's allowed.

I'm in the same position. Rival has a wildcard. I currently have 4DGW players. But my lead is only 32. I would say in your position, it depends on whether your main aim is your mini league, or overall ranking. You've got more than enough points in the bag, to make as many hits as you want to match your rival and so win your mini league easily.

Want to get Jelavic in for this week, stuck on whether to ship RVP or Rooney (I'd most likely get them back for Adebayor after the DGW).

Resisted the tempation to sell Rooney last week. His GW36 fixture is more difficult but he's in better form than RVP. The derby might see plenty of goals aswell, as City will have to play for the win.

So, ship RVP (fixture) or Rooney (form)?

2 teams desperate for points? Id rather be playing Norwich and Villa, teams with 0 to play for.

Look at the fixtures. And take this from a Newcastle fan - we will bottle it.

Sounds good but the reality is that the team are in freefall. Waiting for the week to unfold as we will know more about the situation before I bring any of them in.

Could bring in Pienaar, for a hit though. He would probably replace Valencia rather than McClean (he's good bench material)

Are the rumours regarding Lennon and Walker that they had a bust up with Arry also or they have all fallen out with Ade?

I think it's that they've had a bust-up with 'Arry rather than each other. Kaboul is another rumoured to not play again under Redknapp too.

Doesn't sound healthy at all. Wouldn't be surprised with the rumours the way they are playing.

i have a feeling Mr. Tevez may well give his old employers a sharp reminder of his raw talent this weekend.

Is anybody not going with any Chelsea cover for the DGW?

Very tempted by Mata and a defender, but doesn't seem to be anyone who is nailed on to play both games. Considering I could only get CHE cover for a hit, I'm going to avoid.

I'm tempted. I think it's the juiciest pair of games - followed by Anfield which is no fortress, and BLA last day of the season. It would be Mata for the remainder for me. I reckon that was his rest on Saturday.

Doing Hart to Cech, purely for the sake of it as I fancy Utd to score at City and Chels have QPR at home then Toon so chance of a cleanie in the first and save points in the second.

Ok I'm settled on Hart to Cech and Sinclair to Cabaye for next week giving me six DGW'ers. Was going to get Demps and a 4.0m keeper but he's gone up 0.1 so scuppered that plan! Doh! Fancy Cabaye more than HBA for two away games, a more robust player who should be involved a bit more.

Then either stick with Cech for the season or get Hart back GW37 after the derby. Sorted! 🙂
