For so long a figure of frustration as a Fantasy asset, Victor Moses has firmly established himself as a legitimate midfield option over the last few Gameweeks. As Wigan scrap for survival, the former Crystal Palace man has been crucial to his side’s toils near the bottom of the table and, with Roberto Martinez’s men not quite safe yet, the Latics will be reliant on Moses to produce over the upcoming final two matches.

It wasn’t always like this. As many of us know only too well, Moses was reliable for one thing over the first few months of the campaign – delivering two point returns. The first 14 Gameweeks of the season brought a single assist and, with plenty on the boards losing faith in his abilities, Moses slipped down in price to just 4.6 by Gameweek 17.

Since Gameweek 23, however, Moses’ famine has turned to a feast, with his Fantasy owners benefitting from four goals, four assists and 11 bonus points in those last fourteen games. David Silva, in comparison, has provided a goal, a trio of assists and four bonus points for City.

With wins over the likes of United, Arsenal and Newcastle in the past four Gameweeks, Martinez’s men are in flourishing form and, once again, seem to be on the verge of a great escape. Three points clear of the drop zone, they’re handed the perfect opportunity to seal their survival – a trip to Blackburn this weekend, followed by a final day home clash with Wolves sees out the season.

Moses rolls up to Ewood on the back of his highest Fantasy points haul of the campaign, with a 16 point return in last weekend’s thrashing of Newcastle. Priced at just 5.2, he is second only to Nikica Jelavic for transfers in so far this week and, with faith in his abilities now finally cemented, many more are likely to give Victor the call before Saturday morning’s deadline.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

42 points seperates top 5 in my money minileague, and been pretty much this close throughout. Though I'm the bottom of these 5 and looks like I'm out of it unless KK decides to give gerrard & suarez another run out. Been quality the leagues been this close though.

Fair play, Scholes and Carrick pass percentages last night were 98% and 92% respectively. Doesn't help that pretty much the rest of the team average mid-70s though.

they didnt have the ball much and when they did lots of those passes weren't over 3 or 4 yard mark. its why leon brittons tally is so high for swansea.its a very misleading stat in today's game.

Not sure why I felt the need but I’ve just had a look back over my season to date working out what score I could have had if I’d picked the right captain and subs every week.

There wasn’t a single week where I got the maximum possible score with the players at my disposal, even when auto-subs did most of the work for me!

Including this GW to date, there have been seven GWs where I’ve wasted 20 points or more through poor captaincy choices and bad sub decisions.

    Actual points scored - 2,108
    Points ‘wasted’ - 413
    Potential points total - 2,521
    Selection accuracy - 84%

So in theory, even with my chequered transfer history, I could be sitting 262 points clear in the world if I made the right decisions with the 15 players at my disposal.

Conclusion - captaincy and subs choices are extremely important and I suck at them πŸ™‚

I'd be interested to know where my 84% sits against other active players but I don't suppose anybody else can be bothered to put the legwork in (since Fratboy doesn't seem to be online!) Anyone with Ferguson all season should be a bit better off I suppose.

I did the same thing with my captaincy choices and found I got about 50% of the points I could've if I'd captained the highest scoring player in my team each week, only got it exactly right about 5 times (RVP vs Blackburn was a good one though)

I reckon 50% isn't too bad considering you've got 11 players to choose from - I managed to ride the RVP wave that week too, shame about the week I captained Walters and he scored 0 though!

I've just checked the lost I kept, 205 points from captaincy out of a possible max of 444.

Though the last 7 weeks have been poor, captaincy scores of 5, 2, 5, 3, 2, 2, 5. I didn't realise it had been that long since I'd had a success. At least this week's going alright..

Also I think when considering "lost" points I think you should think about whether a player was a legitimate captaincy option - ie captaining Moses against Newcastle over DGW options isn't something you are likely to do because of the high chance of it going wrong, even though this week it could've paid off.

Same with benched points. Did it make sense to bench Kompany this week? Yes it did, but not with hindsight πŸ˜‰

Yeah, I ignored the 'common sense/hindsight' factor as it's hard to know where to draw the line. 100% efficiency is clearly ridiculously unrealistic but I still think I've squandered some easy points along the way, usually when I've overthought the captain choice! πŸ™‚

Pretty sure I'm doing Cisse to Jelavic for next week (leader has Pienaar so want to cover Everton's fixture against Wolves). Currently tempted to also shoehorn in Aguero or RVP or Moses. I suppose it gives you the option of a supported e5 pawn lunge at some point and it dxe5 you take back with open file for the k-side rook. What sort of openings do you play as white? I don't have the memory power to get into d4, it's enough of a slog prepping e4 for 1...e5, 1...c5, 1...c6, 1...e6 etc

I used to play a lot of d4. but as I said before, generally it leads to an equal position... I prefer e4 now...

Have 4.5 in the bank, should I do the following this week:

    A) Siggy > Moses then Cisse > Aguero in GW38
    B) NTaylor > Gibbs then Cisse > Aguero in GW38
    C) Save transfer

Think Swansea clean sheets for the season are finished.

From experience of watching Maloney for years, as good as he is, he is ridiculously injury prone. Usually just after he hits a bit of form! Don't be surprised if he's done his calf / knee / thigh / hamstring / back (think the latter is the only one he hasn't done so far) in training before Monday!!

So where is the transfer this week?

    Howard (Mignolet)

    Simpson, Jevans, Enrique (BAE, Caulker)

    Valencia, Bale, Barfa, Mata (Siggy)

    Jelly, RVP, Rooney

The obvious choice seems to be BAE out for someone (probably a Spurs defender, maybe even Rose?),, but do I really need to worry about a ‘squad’ with 2 GWs to go? Should I just concentrate on the first X1 now? If so, who now becomes the transfer?

I have £0.7m in the bank…. About 4k overall and top of my MLs so ‘defending’.

Thanks in advance – the replies on here always help me.

danny rose is a midfielder in fantasy terms, so you can't do that. though, depending on when you bought BAE, you should be able to get walker, who is the by far the most reliable TOT defender (in fantasy terms at least).

i think that's what i'd do. the front 8 looks strong (i have a similar problem in that i should be benching siggy, but fear the inevitable points haul). by contrast, i don't expect any more NEW or SWA clean sheets, and evans and enrique have a slight rotation/injury risk associated with them as well.

if you can't afford walker, consider a stoke defender, they have a very good run in as well and their back line is pretty well established. though they aren't fighting for anything, so i'd go TOT first.
