Papiss Cisse steals the show with a pair of outrageous finishes at the Bridge. Alan Pardew opts for a 4-4-2 as Newcastle pick up yet another clean sheet, while Chelsea taste defeat at home for the first time under Roberto Di Matteo. Emmanuel Adebayor bags a brace at Bolton, with Rafael Van der Vaart and Gareth Bale both getting amongst the points, as Spurs deliver a huge blow to the Trotters’ survival hopes:

Papiss Cisse
Having twice hit the woodwork at Wigan last weekend, the Newcastle forward returned to goalscoring ways in sensational style at the Bridge last night. Partnered by Demba Ba up top in a switch to 4-4-2, Cisse grabbed two goals of the highest quality as Alan Pardew’s side picked up their seventh win in the last eight to boost their chances of a fourth place finish. Cisse has now scored 13 times in just 12 appearances since moving to Tyneside in January and, with a pair of assists and 20 bonus points also thrown in for good measure, has averaged a sensational 8.4 points per game thus far, way ahead of second placed Robin Van Persie’s 7.0. The transfers in will continue to roll, although Cisse’s final two games are far from straightforward – City arrive on Sunday having returned three clean sheets in four, while a Gameweek 38 trip to Goodison could prove tricky; Everton have picked up seven clean sheets in their last eight at home.

Newcastle Defence
With Danny Simpson missing out for the first time this season, James Perch slotted into the right-back role last night. Bearing in mind that Chelsea had hit six past QPR on Sunday and Newcastle had been thrashed 4-0 at Wigan, an away clean sheet was perhaps unexpected, but the Magpies once again excelled at the back, returning their sixth clean sheet in the last eight Gameweeks. Pardew’s side now welcome Man City to the Sports Direct Arena on Sunday and, given the Magpies’ form at both ends of the pitch, Roberto Mancini’s men will need to deliver a big performance if they are to remain on course for the title.

Rafael Van der Vaart
The Dutchman picked up where he left off against Blackburn on Sunday as Spurs swept aside Bolton at the Reebok. Van der Vaart had grabbed a goal and a couple of bonus points at the Lane in the first match of his double Gameweek and followed that up with a goal, an assist and X bonus points last night. After a barren winter period, he’s been a crucial part on Spurs’ push for fourth with three goals in his last seven starts– with a trip to Villa up next before a home game against Fulham to see out the season, Van der Vaart looks in the mood to rack up more points before the campaign comes to a close.

Gareth Bale
While his goalless streak may have extended to 12 games last night, Bale picked up a couple of assists against the Trotters. With an assist also provided against Blackburn, the Welshman returned a respectable 14 point score for his Fantasy owners over the double Gameweek. Bale has now closed the gap on Clint Dempsey at the top of the midfield rankings; he’s now just 11 points behind the Fulham man and, with those above-mentioned fixtures to follow, is afforded a chance to perhaps overtake Dempsey as the pair go head to head at the Lane in Gameweek 38.

Emmanuel Adebayor
There’s no doubt the on-loan forward can be a frustrating Fantasy option. Adebayor arrived at the Reebok having scored in just one of the previous nine Gameweeks but found his scoring touch to grab a couple of goals against Owen Coyle’s strugglers. The fourth top scoring forward to date this term, he’s still owned by less than 10% of Fantasy managers despite the fact that Adebayor, with 15 goals and 12 assists, has had a hand in more goals for Harry Redknapp’s side than any other player.

Not been on for a while as I've been sulking... If you want to know how to throw a ML away, come to me!

I was 21 points clear of 2nd and 31 points clear of 3rd.

    I'm now 15 points behind!

Scored 88 which with 6 DGW players, is average at the very best.

    Which option?
    (1) Tevez > RVP
    (2) Tevez > Rooney
    (3) Arteta > Pienaar
    (4) Screw the midfielders. Give your all-in and focus on attackers since it's coming to the end of the season.

Leaning towards Rooney, bacause Rvp has an early game saturday and doesn't play until sunday 16.00.

Same boat. But im leaning towards RVP as my rival will cap Rooney & im 30 points adrift. Also With Welbeck out Rooney will probably play with Chica & his cance of goals may take a hit. Its a lottery. Head & heart say RVP. But its a painful wait if RVP doest produce i admit.

So much for the GW34 approach eh. I had only 7 starters and landed 78 points. In GW36 I had plenty of DGWers and nailed a solid 123-8pts. Not sure what the general consensus is between the two approaches but do we all agree that going hard out for DGW36 was the right way to go in the end?

The thing to do is ensure those you get in for a double are also good selections for the next weeks. If they are then it is always worththe risk to gamble and take hits in a double game week.

With two weeks left this week saw far more willing to take gambles. I only took one hit , but most of my mini league took 2-3 hits and it worked out well.

I've only known one other double gameweek like this for mega scores across the board and that was largely based on Rooney going mental against Hull.

Ya, I was reflecting on that in the morning. Completely right, but this is not how dgw's usually go. There are a share of disappointments in the dgw too. This dgw was unlike any other where everyone seemed to do well. I think people will be talking about this game-week, when we have a similar dgw next year, and will end up being disappointed instead if they take too many hits.

look to ship a defender out.....maybe Caulker, Evans or simpson.

Don't change the mid or attack this week and siggy is a good bench player to have in case.

tough choice....if you are trailing by 15pts ake the gamble that RVP fails and captain VDV or Dempsey if I were you.

Your defence needs attention even if it is a little boring. Simpson could get 0 if he plays, Evans is out, Caulker could get minus if Man Utd go mad and Shotton...well possibly you'll get something there. Apart from Verm your defence is shot to pieces for gwk 37.

I know that because mine is similar and also shot to buggery.

Could be Osman 3 Pienaar 2 Hibbert 1 depending on the Stoke players.

Arggh...my rival has reduced the gap at the top of the league from 27 points to 6. He has Cisse, Siggy, Aguero and Bale going into next week, I have Suarez, Jelavic, Valencia and Dempsey. I need to dump Evans and my defence is crap whereas he has Walker. I should also dump Suarez potentially but nervous of taking a hit. What can I do? Got that sinking feeling...

My rival reduced the gap from 76 to 61...bullet dodged...could have been far worse.

If you are ahead copy him. Although at the moment you have a lot riding on Dempsey doing well this week. Watch out for gwk 38 for Aguero....look to get him in...he could be your rival's key captain choice for that week.

I didn't see the Spurs Bolton game, so wanted to ask the FFS community:

What do you make of VdV's prospects against Villa?

Opponent (who is only 3pts behind) has him; if I brought VdV in our midfield would be near identical although I would have a stronger defence + attack (Me: Verm, Hibbert, Jelavic vs Him: Walker, Taylor, Ba).

      Worth a tactical 4pt hit?
