The Dugout Discussion opens for the oddity of a solitary Saturday Premier League fixture. With Chelsea and Liverpool Wembley bound this evening, we’re restricted to just one fantasy scoring opportunity. But, with over half of us backing Robin van Persie with the armband (if our Captain’s Poll is to be believed), then Arsenal versus Norwich is a game of huge significance. With mini-leagues hanging in the balance, let’s take a look at the team news to confirm whether or not our talisman starts…

Arsenal XI: Szczesny, Sagna, Koscielny, Vermaelen, Gibbs, Ramsey, Song, Gervinho, Rosicky, Benayoun, van Persie.

Norwich XI: Ruddy, Naughton, Ryan Bennett, Martin, Lappin, Johnson, Howson, Elliott Bennett, Hoolahan, Jackson, Holt.

Of course the Arsenal captain does start, and he does so in an unchanged Gunners line-up from the side that drew 1-1 at Stoke.

After a 3-0 defeat at home to Liverpool, Norwich make several changes with Grant Holt and Simeon Jackson leading the line for the Canaries.

The Dugout Discussion chatroom is open and can be accessed right here.

2 goals, other goalscorers either didn't start or finish the game. I'd say he's nailed on for them.

A bit reductionist. Swans played 3 at the back as an experiment, they won't do that again against Utd.

A random person with no experience telling a multiple league winning multilingual manager with 20 years experience who transformed an entire countries footballing culture who works with the plays in training every day what to do is not comical or stupid at all.

and of course the ref also had the liberty of seeing a zoomed in version of a reply from a clear monitor

What idiotic comments. You could make that statement of a replay for every call in every sport around the world. Refs get paid to be able to make the decision without the use of replays. Not having it does not change the fact that it was a penalty....and due to the immense importance of the game, could have decided their season.

Everything that is said is an opinion...Im not telling Arsene how to manage his team, I am stating that to me (and prob 90% of all Arsenal supporters) that AOC should have started.

        Get bent

"You could make that statement of a replay for every call in every sport around the world."

Indeed but still doesnt change thats its correct or millions go on to over such opinions

"Refs get paid to be able to make the decision without the use of replays"

But you used said reply which the ref didnt have to make a definite decision on whether it was or was not a penalty. Perhaps the next time you wish to make such a judgement on a ref run for 90min then stand behind the play with players between you and the action.
If the ref doesnt have a reply then your criticism of him /her using said reply reeks a tad of hypocrisy.

"Im not telling Arsene how to manage his team, I am stating that to me (and prob 90% of all Arsenal supporters) that AOC should have started."

If your saying X should be in a team yet not saying it really what was the entire point of saying it to begin with? Nor does what 90% of people think about said situation in any way take away from inexperienced blogger thinking his view on a team would improve it over experience winning manager.

Says to guy using a Tv reply to criticize the decision a ref made without one and thinking his views on team selection would improve the team over a multiple winning coach

Im afraid classifying anyone as an idiot wont take away from the two above points being said by you - and now comical defended.

Arsenal fans should stop complaining about penalty. They could have easily been down to 9 by that time, not to mention penalty for Norwich in 1st half.

What happened to Sagna? Was it bad injury...all i needed was another injured defender to go with BAE, Evans etc etc

Looks likely..although Benny has 2 shots and both on target and a goal. I'd still pick RVP for 3 baps.
