As the season draws to a close and Fantasy managers begin to focus on next month’s Euro 2012 tournament in Poland and Ukraine, we’re not quite done with domestic matters just yet. Ahead of next weekend, then, we’re rolling out another Last Chance Saloon League, while also casting an eye over the Scout League, with our chances of providing a third successive Fantasy Premier League (FPL) champion looking strong:

This morning, we’ve opened up the Last Chance Saloon league ahead of next Sunday’s 11.30 deadline. The rules are simple- the scoring applies to Gameweek 38 only, and the team with the highest tally over next weekend’s ten fixtures takes the crown. We will NOT, however, allow entry to fresh teams, as this goes against the spirit of the competition. Pretty straightforward, really.

There’s no prize on the line here. No gold-plated yacht moored in Monaco or vouchers to spend on assorted sundries – purely pride and bragging rights are the order of the day.

So if you fancy giving Granville something else to moan about before the season is out, or are keen to knock Mark off his lofty perch, sign up using the code below and prepare yourself for battle.

759-591909

While many will be happy to take on the challenge and salvage a season of disappointment, at the top of the Scout League there’s plenty more at stake. Gary McLean looks to be firmly in the driving seat to take the crown – he’s 13 points clear of second-placed Jonathan Pickard and, with Martin Skrtel still to play tomorrow evening, will be hoping for a Liverpool clean sheet against Chelsea to extend his cushion at the summit.

Indeed, a further look at the Overall Standings suggests Gary could well be poised to climb to number one in the world by Tuesday evening. Currently sitting third in the rankings, he is just five points off the top but that Anfield encounter looks crucial to his chances. If Liverpool can keep Chelsea at bay and also find the net, his team would climb ahead of Sam Pater and Garry Bothwell and sit at the top of the leaderboard with a single Gameweek remaining. Nervy times indeed.

We wish Gary all the best in his quest for glory and hope he can follow in the footsteps of Jon Reeson in 2009/10 and Chris McGurn in 2010/11 by delivering the FPL title and Scout League double.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Any chance of Siggy bonus? He was the best player on the pitch for me. At least 2 shots on target and lots of completed passes ect

Tracked through the FPL site how the Cup was progressing. This week's semi's have Doc Athletic of Ireland up 41 - 25 over the Green Army of England, based on subs and likely bonuses it looks like Doc Athletic will be in the finals. In the other semi, Dr Comet Lovejoy of the USA is up 56 - 33 over the deliciously name Whoateallthepies from England. Whoateallthepies made a desperate set of transfers and needs big points from Terry, Cashley and Figueroa to pull it out. Could it be an all Doc final?

    From the Fantasy Euro2012 (FE12?)

    "Assists *
An assist is awarded when the goalscorer receives the ball directly from a team-mate (including the goalkeeper) and scores without having to take the ball past an opponent. If the pass takes a small deflection which does not change the direction of the ball, it will still be given. No assists are awarded for own goals or penalties. Live assists are provisional and will be reviewed within 24 hours of the match."

Two minefields they are creating here. "Small deflection" and "take past opponent". The summer won't pass without many a good assist debate!

Euro 2012 Ireland squad: Given, Westwood, Forde, Dunne, O’Shea, St.Ledger, O’Dea, Ward, Kelly, Foley, Whelan, Gibson, Andrews, Fahey, Duff, McGeady, Hunt, McClean, Keane, Doyle, Cox, Long, Walters.

Standby: Randolph, McShane, Green, Coleman, Keogh.

Disappointed that Coleman is only a standby, hasn't had a sparkling season but is still capable. Would like to see a forward line of Cox and Long, think they'd work better than Keane and Doyle.

When Cox was playing for West Brom and when he plays for Ireland he's good. Robbie Keane has had to go to America as no Premier League club want him and I'm pretty sure Kevin Doyle has played every match for Wolves this season and has scored a total of 4 goals. Cox is a second striker he assists Long in getting the goals.

My Euro 2012 team. Does it look good in your opinion?

    Aknifeev, Pletikosa
Pique, M Kadlec, Walker, M Olsson, Wass
    Ozil, Iniesta, Shirokov, Yarmolenko, Polanski
    Lewandowski, Muller, Robben

No idea about Yarmolenko and Wass (and Olsson for that matter) but the rest looks solid.

I would have an Irish defender, Trapp loves his 0-0s.

      Who is Wass?
And I'm tempted by Dzagoev rather than Shirokov.

Ozil and Mueller too? I'm not sure about a double on German forwards, difficult to predict the points

        I don't know. He's cheap.
I played UCL fantasy and both seem to be really good option but I prefer Shirokov.
        Muller to Ibra?

I'm getting Ibra, as he does seem to perform on the international stage, and should be the source of all Sweden's goals.

Although having said that, I looked up Sweden's qualifying record, he was their top scorer with 5, 2 against San Marino, 3 against Finland, not a great record, when Sweden scored 29 in total.

Larsson, Tovoinen and Kallstrom all scored a few

Will Mathieu Debuchy play at RB in the absence of Sagna?

Hmm, France have an abundance of Left Backs, but not so many Right backs.

I think it comes down to Debuchy or Reveillere

Someone mentioned Debuchy on Talksport in place of Sagna. Does that mean it will be Reveillere playing then 🙂

We'll see in the warm up games I guess, 5.5 isn't bad for whichever one is first choice

Abate for Italia. Yay or Nay? Not sure about their defence apart from Chiellini and Barzagli.

Not sure either, is Barzagli really 1st choice? If Abate is 1st choice he's a decent option for the price but don't expect any goals or assists. I'll have no doubt cooled down by the time the tournament comes but after yet another woeful derby performance from him yesterday he is far away from my team.

What the f*ck was he playing at for the foul on Milito for the penalty?? I would have given him the hook for that. It just showed a total lack of responsibility or respect for the situation. Hate when defenders do that.

We were winning at that point too. He made a dumb mistake which caused the only goal in the last derby, a game where we had something like 70% possession. Needless to say I'm pissed off.

Coming back to the point about Greece. Granted they are not among the gifted footballing sides but the economic meltdown of the country and the struggles they are in will give the team some serious incentive to go out and give their country something to be proud of. They are a proud nation the Greeks.

I remember having Dellas in my team in 2004 and he scored so many points in that tournament. I'm drafting Papadopoulos in 🙂

This is my provisional team -

    Hart, Cech
    Walker, Boateng, Kadlec, Strinic, Abate
    Iniesta, Xavi, Kroos, Shirikov, Polanski
    RVP, Robben, Jelavic

Although i may put in Villa depending on fitness, or Huntelaar instead of RVP depending on who plays in th frendlies. Still reckon Englands defense will be solid, i feel we have a decent selection in defense, just thin up top w/o Roonpig in the groupies. not sure if i should have Xavi and iniesta, but the spanish Mid is always formiddable. Also dont know how nailed on Kroos will be.

Can someone explain the subs for the FF EURO? Do they get auto subbed if they score more?

You get Autosubs if your players haven't played atall, they will be replaced by players that did play who are on the bench.

But the games are played over 4 days, one group per day, and you can make substitutions yourself, swapping a player who has already played for one who hasn't to get rid of your low scoring players
