As the season draws to a close and Fantasy managers begin to focus on next month’s Euro 2012 tournament in Poland and Ukraine, we’re not quite done with domestic matters just yet. Ahead of next weekend, then, we’re rolling out another Last Chance Saloon League, while also casting an eye over the Scout League, with our chances of providing a third successive Fantasy Premier League (FPL) champion looking strong:

This morning, we’ve opened up the Last Chance Saloon league ahead of next Sunday’s 11.30 deadline. The rules are simple- the scoring applies to Gameweek 38 only, and the team with the highest tally over next weekend’s ten fixtures takes the crown. We will NOT, however, allow entry to fresh teams, as this goes against the spirit of the competition. Pretty straightforward, really.

There’s no prize on the line here. No gold-plated yacht moored in Monaco or vouchers to spend on assorted sundries – purely pride and bragging rights are the order of the day.

So if you fancy giving Granville something else to moan about before the season is out, or are keen to knock Mark off his lofty perch, sign up using the code below and prepare yourself for battle.

759-591909

While many will be happy to take on the challenge and salvage a season of disappointment, at the top of the Scout League there’s plenty more at stake. Gary McLean looks to be firmly in the driving seat to take the crown – he’s 13 points clear of second-placed Jonathan Pickard and, with Martin Skrtel still to play tomorrow evening, will be hoping for a Liverpool clean sheet against Chelsea to extend his cushion at the summit.

Indeed, a further look at the Overall Standings suggests Gary could well be poised to climb to number one in the world by Tuesday evening. Currently sitting third in the rankings, he is just five points off the top but that Anfield encounter looks crucial to his chances. If Liverpool can keep Chelsea at bay and also find the net, his team would climb ahead of Sam Pater and Garry Bothwell and sit at the top of the leaderboard with a single Gameweek remaining. Nervy times indeed.

We wish Gary all the best in his quest for glory and hope he can follow in the footsteps of Jon Reeson in 2009/10 and Chris McGurn in 2010/11 by delivering the FPL title and Scout League double.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

All speculation alright. but the Irish Times did say last week that an established player had told Trap he wouldnt be going due to personal reasons. I'd heard Duff, Hunt, McGeady and Gibson bandyed about over the last few days but today Twitter has exploded with speculations thats its Duff

Vermaelen's goals really gloss over the fact he is not that good a defender, Arsenal should buy a serious centre back and push him into midfield. Probably second best finisher there after RVP!

he's a decent option, you can place him in there instead of song. but this is no issue, there's always someone injured, so you need at least 14-15 "starters".

Agreed, im not dissing Vermaelen as a leader/player, he is crucial to our team IMO, I just rate Koscielny pretty high in terms of defending, as I do Vermaelen when he's actually defending!

Think we are pretty much agreed then.

Arsenal seem to have an issue with training defenders, most of them are technically very good but will rigidly stick to doing their job and no one elses.

Saed Hajrovic at Barnet is a great fullback, but wont track inside when Hector has been knocked out of position at CB.

Yep, I can't remember right now who said it, but one of the Arsenal players came out and said that Wenger spends any time working on defense at training, definitely shows in some games. I think we have a potential to be a really strong team with 1-2 extra signings and some work on defense, so hopefully Wenger does something about it in the pre-season.

Would you do changes on this team for the final and last gw?

    Bogdan
    Verm Walker Terry Evans
    Valencia Demps Bale
    Cisse RvP Jelavic
    | Howard – Barfa Pienaar Williamson |

Leading my mini league with 49 pts before baps. Want to bring in Aguero, sounds Jelly -> Aguero + Demps -> Ferguson (and then play Barfa or Pienaar) like a good plan?

Gw 38 becomes the most important GW of season for me.
After catching up my ML leader(at one point he been 200pts above me) we going in last GW death even

What shall i do??Shall i sell Rooney to either Tevez/Torres...

another question is??who should i keep out of Valencia and Dempsey and who should i get to replace them?

    So it's

    A)Rooney-Tevez (-4)
    B) Rooney-Torres (-4)
    C)Keep Rooney

    +

    1)DEmpsey/Valencia -Silva
    2)Dempsey-Valencia-Nasri
    3)Dempsey/Valencia-Mata

Dont see how Ozil, Kross, Schweinsteiger and Khedira fit into the same squad. Surely only 3 of them will be in the line-up. Probably with Kroos missing out for Poldolski/Muller/Reus and maybe Goetze if he regains fitness. Also schmelzer wont be a CB. If you swap him with Boateng that might be more realistic. I think the line up with be something more like this:
        Neuer
        Lahm Badstuber Hummels Boateng
        Khedira Schweinsteiger
        Muller/Reus Ozil Podolski
        Gomez/Klose

What's my best chance of catching up 10 points in GW38...

Rivals' likely front 7 after FT (educated guess):

Bale - Valencia - Dempsey - Mid up to £7m
    RVP - Jelavic - Aguero (c)

    Mine pre transfers:
    VDV - Valencia - Dempsey - Pienaar
    RVP - Jelavic - Rooney

Plan A - safe and boring
    Rooney > Aguero (c)
but teams quite similar then, could still catch him though

    Plan B - City shootout
    Rooney > Tevez (c)
down to which City striker does best (although I fancy Aguero tbh)

    Plan C - front 3 madness
    Jelavic / RVP > Tevez (c) / Torres

    Plan D - front 3 dream
    Jelavic / RVP > Aguero (c) / Torres

    Plan E - holy one safe(ish)
    Jelavic / Dempsey > Aguero (c) / Moses

Plan F - holy one gamble
    Jelavic / Dempsey > Tevez (c) / Moses

Sorry there's a lot of options, but which one stands out? Thanks

Yeah I was looking earlier but like you say the fixtures are not kind for CS potential this week. Alot of teams with nothing to play for which usually makes for bad defending and some unfavourable fixtures for some others.

Hibbert is a decent shout. Everton are solid at home and he is good for assist potential. Gallas for Spurs, maybe Nelsen in the absence of Rose. Or just stick with Boyce/Caldwell. I would say that is the best bet in that price range.

Maybe ShawX for nicking a goal but I see Bolton scoring as they are playing for survival.

Should I just do Rooney > Aguero and forget a hit for Valencia > Yaya/Moses?

Keep Tony V, if you're ditching Roon

Moses I could cope with, but Yaya I think is too much of a punt.
