Over the past couple of days, we’ve been sorting out our Injuries and Bans database, updating the upcoming suspensions for the season ahead in addition to keeping note of those players still sidelined or unavailable for one reason or another…

This takes into account the ensuing bans for the likes of Tim Cahill and Joey Barton, while Danny Rose and Jason Roberts have already served one game of their respective three-match suspensions. Wayne Bridge’s loan move to Brighton and Chelsea pair Patrick Van Aanholt and Tomas Kalas’ season-long move to Dutch club Vitesse Arnhem have also been noted accordingly.

In terms of injuries, players such as Darren Bent and Nemanja Vidic have now been changed to “available for selection” in light of their respective returns to pre-season training. Any long-term casualties who have yet to return to any sort of action remain marked as unavailable – as always, this includes Kieron Dyer.

We’re also tracking all the injury news from the pre-season matches: those players causing concern will be marked as “knocks” while we await further updates. Their status will of course change should they become “doubts” or “outs” for the season kick-off on August 18.

    I have always rated him highly and his actions when United have a FK 20-30 yards out. But with Kagawa around, Scholes, Carrick, Cleverly there may not be a place for him. He has been a little unlucky with injuries, but I hope he can find a spot in midfield in our new look there.

  Anderson was indeed the intriguing inclusion, Fergie hadn't said his name beforehand but it seems like he'll keep faith with him now. Feel sorry for Berbatov, at least he's dealing with his situation with grace: "So it's better for everyone if we say goodbye. If not, I am professional and I will keep doing everything I can to help my team and my teammates, whenever I have the opportunity to do so."

    I wasted my WC in GW12 purely to make money in the international break, I broke up a perfectly good squad all for the sake of making a few quid.
    I'm holding onto it for dear life until late season DGWs. Even if it means a few early season points hits to achieve team value/ jump on bandwagons.

      I agree, if at all possible I'd rather do hits than blow my WC. I'm comfortable doing an 8 pointer if the fixtures and form make it an obvious long term payoff. Plus a WC is much more useful for the late DGWs as you say because you have a much better idea of where the points lie. Taking an 8 pointer to facilitate a late season 100 point DGW is obviously great business.

  Not necessarily, it's really easy for them to post the prices and after all this it seems pointless to give the launch date away by doing something so obvious. The point of the whole thing is to cover the wait I think, so while we have to wait we'll get prices I think.

    Luiz. I'm serious, he would work properly if he actually played in a country that used his defensive system (high line). Biggest asset would be how he could be yet another attacker from deep when they are laying siege to opponents. It would be impossible to cope with Alba and Luiz coming from deep. Goal threat too.

        Well if they are genuinely intent on replacing one of the all-time club legends I think they will be willing to pay an appropriate amount of money. Luiz is not a perfect fit with Chelsea's old-school backs-to-the-wall defending and their like-minded manager. He may feel he has not been appreciated in England and the club may not appreciate him enough either to demand top dollar. I think his fee could be within Barca's ability.

Because I'm bored I compiled a list of teams to avoid in the GW1 team based on the first 6 fixtures. Feel free to add your opinions.

EVERTON: The toffee's traditionally get off to a slow start. They have a tough first game followed by two away games and a home match against Newcastle. Avoid

LIVERPOOL: Have possibly the worst run of fixtures to start off as their 3 home games are against last years big 3. Avoid

NEWCASTLE: First two games are extremely tough. Perhaps look to get them in afterwards. Avoid for GW1

READING: Promoted sides are always a bit dodgy to start off with and these guys are no exception. The DGW isn't great and is made worse by the blank GW. Avoid

SOUTHAMPTON: With only two alright fixtures in the first 6 gameweeks it'd be better to see how they fare. Avoid

STOKE: Two away games are their best fixtures in the first 6 gameweeks. Not really ideal for a side that traditionally is poor on the road. Avoid

WEST BROM: Have these guys ever been good fantasy value? With two tough first up games it'd be wise to see how they fare. Avoid

    Its a good post that, very specific. I guess I like to keep it somewhat open to various options for the starting team so to narrow it down a bit I find it easier to simply rule out particular sides.
    
    I would add that Ars, Nor, QPR, and WIG are all a bit iffy and I wouldn't want more than 1 player from each of those teams, if any at all.

      No one tempting from Norwich. Maybe Taarabt or Park from QPR after the first 6 GWs. And maybe a cheap Wigan defender for rotation.
