Chelsea have this evening announced the signing of 20-year-old Brazilian Oscar from Internacional for a fee, reportedly in the region of £25 million. The young attacking midfielder, who can play centrally or on the flank, is currently on Olympic duty with his national side, offering us Fantasy managers and Chelsea fans the opportunity to assess his talents in the coming month.

Oscar is the latest acquisition by the Champions League winners who have been quick to flex their financial muscles following their triumph in Munich, capturing the likes of Eden Hazard and Marko Marin. The arrival of the South American playmaker is believed to take their Summer spending well beyond the £50 million mark.

For us Fantasy managers, this latest foray into the market adds further doubt to our selection of Chelsea’s attacking assets. Roberto Di Matteo’s side begin their campaign with a double Gameweek, taking on a trip to Wigan and a midweek home clash with newly promoted Reading. While that pair of fixtures offers obvious incentive for investment, Di Matteo’s first choice lineup is becoming more and more difficult to call by the week.

Chelsea face three league games in the space of six days with a home meeting with Newcastle looming in Gameweek 2; realistically Di Matteo will surely be looking to utilise his options to keep his lineup fresh. It looks difficult, perhaps almost impossible, to find an attacking player who is assured of starting all three of those matches.

We can at least presume that Oscar will take time to bed in and be given a number of weeks to acclimatise before being given a full Premier League debut. However, his arrival in the squad will mean that the uncertainty surrounding our Chelsea selections is set to remain long after the double Gameweek has passed.

We’ll bring you a full Scout Report on Oscar, with more analysis on his likely role and impact in the next 24-hours.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Too much money on keepers. I'd go for Freidel @ 5.5 or DDG @ 6 over Reina.

My dad does the same, must be an old-age thing. He goes with two expensive keepers that usually have great fixtures at the same time, then his forwards consist usually of Rooney, Suarez and Torres. He refuses to have City because he supports the reds despite having Suarez. He even included Ji Sung Park...

I'm quite liking the top heavy approach. With Ade's good fixtures and tendency to mop up boni when he scores, I like the idea of having him without having to do without Rooney or Aguero...

    Friedle Fed

    Cole Lescott Cuellar Fonte Gunter

Hazard Michu (if 6.0) Taarabt Maloney O'Neil

Rooney Aguero Torres (becomes Ade GW2 with 0.5 into midfield)

Yes, the midfield is a bit light and you lose flexibility if you need an early overhaul but it may end up being be a good approach.

Im doing the same but with Tevez instead of Aguero, giving me a much stronger midfield. Would recommend it. Tevez is fantasy gold. Will start the first few fixtures at least.

Also, if you keep Aguero, start with Adebayor over Rooney (and get him in for Torres) so u have 0.5 now to upgrade O'neil, rather than wasting a transfer later.

Good thought. The problem is that I don't really want to be without Rooney GW 1 given his high ownership. I went RVP last season - without roo or Aguero - and never recovered.

I went with Tevez over aguero at the end of last season butAguero was definitle playing futher foward... cant see that changing and with the nailed onness factor, he's worth the extra 2.5 and a weaker midfield.

Just get Rooney as soon as the deadline passes. Then u will catch the price rise. Simples.

Have to disagree with you on the Tevez matter but hey thats what will make me finish above you 😉

    Federici Vorm

    Hazard Taarabt N'Zogbia Maloney Michu
    Torres Aguero Petric

2M in bank for Torres to Rooney

Yep, but Fulham's early fixtures are great so it's only really GW2 and 6.

And GW2, all the mids have pretty good fixtures, not quite as good but still useful for GW6.

N'Zog could score heavily under Lambert imo. He should suit the attacking gameplan and when he puts his mind to it, he's a top top player.

        Yep, 2nd time lucky...

Although I do think Taarabt will come good this year. He was treated badly by Warnock and shoved out the way to bring Barton in as captain and I think that affected him.

N'Zog has all the talent I'm just hoping that Lambert can get the best out of him.

Same GK choice as me so hopefully will work well. I have Kaboul instead of Dawson. Does it look likely that Dawson will now play instead of Kaboul?

If i had your teams i'd pick B as i prefer Lescott to Clichy.

I was all set for no Spurs cover at the back, but there's an article floating about where AVB praised Dawson's off-field attributes. Maybe he's just saying these things as a sort of acknowledgement, before he picks someone else to take the armband. Dawson does have a tendency to boot the ball upfield so not sure he'll even figure, i'd say he's their 3rd best CB at the moment so making him captain could cause a few murmurs in the dressing room.

Second overhaul and very different draft:

    DDG,
    Cashley, Terry, Verm,
    Bale, Kagawa, Valecia, Silva, Dyer
    Bent, Graham.

    Cerny, Demel, Gunter, Roberts

I'm not mad - if I get +150 from bent and +120 from graham I'll be happy. I hate both Roonpig and RVP(now), Aguero doesn't excite me at 11.5, and torres will be crap again.

    Thoughts?

Captain will always sit in midfield depending on easiest fixture - they all have goal in them. I'm trading big points accross the field with those up front. Last two years rvp + aguero + roonpig et al - highest I got was 25k

Dont base ur strategy this season on previous seasons results. The prcing this year heavily favours medium priced mids. Pienaar(at eve)/Sess/HBA/McClean wont be far behind the top scoring midfielders. Maybe even Michu/NZog/Taarabt. Ur strikers will be far, far behind the likes of Rooney and Aguero. Also you didnt do badly because you had them - just because everyone had them so them doing well doesnt improve ur rank much. Imagine how bad u would have done without RVP. Same story this year im afraid.

My roonpig money is in defence. Last year clean sheets were very hard to come by - chelsea and manu look best bets for this year and verm is always good for a goal. RVP is no longer an issue (hopefully off to Juve - even if he goes to manu he'll not do as well).

There is no must have player this year (maybe roonpig). Bent will do well under Lambert and shouldn't be too far behind the big guns (Big Eck was strangling villa). Graham is the best value striker in fpl imho. Lots of scope in my midfield for swapping around too.

    Hi guys.
Please feel free to rip apart IF you can?

    Federici/Friedel

    Terry, Fabio, McCartney, Rangel ,Cuellar

Demsey, Piennar, Bale, Hazard, De Guzman/Michu - depending on price.

    Petric, Rooney, Graham

So many rotation problems up front with City so going with One hopefully big hitter and two smaller that rotate well. Also gives me more cash to splash on the plethora of decent mids.
Will change terry and hazard for city/united cover in first two weeks.

Why so little love for Cisse? Ok, Newcastles fixtures are not outstanding, but that wont bother him. Over the season he should be in the top 5 scorers. He may not bag as many hat tricks as rooney or aguero but to be fair he is consistent and shouldnt suffer being benched too much

            Thanks Man.

Adam is toast, at best platoon fodder w/ Henderson @ DM until Lucas is 100% fit. This is provisional of course, but in my hopes Allen will be signed and Rodgers will ease him in partnering with Lucas in the 2 of the 4-2-3-1. he will have to play a pseudo-wing as I'm sure Gerrard will want AM. But Liverpool doesn't sign a Borini just to back-up Suarez...somebody wants the Italians (Doni too) happy. Do you see a crack in the door for Sterling?

IMHO, Vinny is the only nailed body in their back four. Mancini could very well give the hot urine treatment to Lescott owners w/ Kolo, as easily as Richards owners with Zabs. But going by history the BS with Richards happens mainly from midway through the season on. People over look Liverpool at their own risk.

Extremely risky but you know that, of all the risks dont go for Richards, Luiz, Aqua/Diaby or some weeks you wont be able to field 11.

Are u a liverpool fan? Suarez is not a great pick with the fixturs. Nor is kelly (even the fulham one - wont start) nor is Aquilani/Diaby as neither will start. Needs united cover. Clichy over Richards. Dont get Luiz. Needs spurs cover. Apart from that its fine 😀

Suarez...people, mark my words (not a fan of Pool or really Suarez) with a bit of tiki taka in support, is FIXTURE PROOF. I am an Arsenal fan. Diaby, if his ligaments of overcooked Ramen make it through Asia, and the Citeh match will get a start. Ironically he's probably the most fit...cardio-wise of the CM's...maybe not OX but Ox will be sitting deep. Song is my back-up and likely pick.

I plan on Terry, but something tells me that Cahill won't be healthy come the start of the season. No need for Spurs or United cover for t least GW2. I have my eye on three fixtures that will have more than 4 total goals scored in each.

Suarez is an interesting choice. Not got favourable fixtures at first but could work out to be a very good differential. He could be full of goals under Rogers no matter what the opposition.

Ramires is a part of a massive Chelsea midfield, might play

        Pretty spot on touche!

Risks in my back four will be curtailed and you probably won't see Maiga's or Michu in my squad. But WC's will not be used anytime soon.

Suarez...oh ye of little faith. It will be easy with the service he's going to get, and without Henderson, Downing or Adam anywhere near the pitch. You don't even know who Ade will be playing for, a Qatari league team could bid 8k per week more and he'd be out. Not too mention a growing number of scoring options other than him. Bale will do.

If you had a choice between a Chelsea defender and a Newcastle defender GW 3 onwards, who would you pick? Consider price and potential both.
