The first gameweek of the season concludes tonight at Stamford Bridge, as Chelsea look to take an early lead at the top of the Premier League with victory over Reading. Their commitments in next week’s Super Cup brought this fixture forward, and the Dugout Discussion opens in anticipation of delightful double-gameweek points.

The team news for tonight’s encounter is in, and the sides will line-up as follows…

Chelsea XI: Cech, Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry, Cole, Lampard, Ramires, Mikel, Mata, Hazard, Torres.

Reading XI: Federici, Gunter, Pearce, Leigertwood, Harte, Karacan, McAnuff, Guthrie, Gorkss, Pogrebnyak, McCleary.

Both teams make two changes from their opening day line-ups. For the hosts, Ramires has recovered from the illness that kept him out at Wigan, with Ryan Bertrand making way, and Gary Cahill replaces the injured David Luiz. Reading replace Hal Robson-Kanu and Adam Le Fondre with Jem Karacan and Garath McCleary.

    Well well well. Reading are not messing about. Cracking header from the Pog. Ian Harte delivering set pieces like a champion.

    As a Lampard owner I am thinking of keeping long term. Penalties are massively on the increase with Hazard about. Committing defenders in the box whenever he feels like it.

      Yeah Lampard looks like value at 9.0 if he keeps getting penalties from hazard. He even pushes forward quite a lot. Torres on the other hand needs shipping asap.

    Still a half to go, and Torres has looked dangerous has he not? Was unlucky not to get one when Ramires didn't play him early when he had acres of space in the box. His header was just wide just then, and when he skinned 3 players and purely miss kicked the ball it was nothing short of magic. Some people have got to look at the positives in players when the stats aren't in their favour!

    To be honest, currently on 68pts and expecting over 70pts come end of this game. Which isn't actually all that bad for the first week. Could be better but could be much worse. So not disappointed by my Chelski failings.

    Upson Downings - Torres is at the wind up. Bag of nerves out there. He seems to make the wrong kind of runs just for the sake of moving about. Not committing to balls in the air and just letting the CB win them all and miscontrolling every ball he gets. If he keeps that up his team mates will just avoid giving him the ball because they know what's going to happen.

    Glad I did Torres > Rooney on Saturday.
