The Gunners show their spirit to come from behind and claim the points at Upton Park, as Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott arrive and Santi Cazorla confirms his class…

On the Up

Olivier Giroud
A first Premier League goal, was capped by the assist for Theo Walcott’s winner. The Frenchman has pedigree in his native country but has yet to convince on these shores. He’ll surely take great confidence from this evening’s performance, however, and Giroud could yet present another enticing option up front.

Santi Cazorla
We kept faith with Cazorla in the Watchlist rankings, settling him in third above his in-form team-mate Gervinho: tonight’s performance demonstrated just why. The Spaniard was, once again, superb and this time delivered on his hugely impressive numbers with a fabulous strike to seal the Arsenal victory.

Theo Walcott
A peripheral figure so far in Arsenal’s season, Walcott’s goal and his assist for Cazola’s effort was a reminder of his potential. Contract negotiations are still ongoing – if Walcott can finally settle, he could yet play a role in our Fantasy seasons. Right now, he’s an option that increases the likelihood of rotation in Wenger’s lineup.

Going Down

The Arsenal Defence
Arsene Wenger brought Per Mertesacker back into his back four, dropping Laurent Koscielny to the bench – a decision likely to have been governed by the threat of Andy Carroll. The Gunners backline have now conceded in the last four and, more significantly, with Bacary Sagna and Wojciech Szczesney set for returns after the international break, there is a great deal of uncertainty in terms of personnel. Thomas Vermaelen appears to be the only assured starter, at least until we know more on Kieran Gibbs’ knock that saw him replaced just before the hour-mark tonight.

Gervinho
Giroud’s returns and Walcott’s showing from the bench signals trouble for owners of the Ivorian. Already he was pushed out wide on the right from the off in this evening’s game, only to be replaced by Walcott after 60 minutes after an ineffectual showing. Gervinho’s starting role is now immediately under increased threat, both as a central attacker and on the flank.

Ricardo Vaz Te
The Hammers striker had been enjoying a buoyant start to the season but this looks to have been derailed this evening by a suspected dislocation of the shoulder. Guy Demel also sustained a knock and his prognosis is likely to be a greater concern for Fantasy managers.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Levante did amazing in La Liga for a newly promoted team last year. He was a huge part of that. I'd hardly say he's "under the radar"...

He was unplayable at times today. But given the dearth of in-from striking talent he is not worth a striker spot.

So how are people feeling that removed Hazard? The claims of he's been off form for the last 3 games don't cut it with me, he's just been unlucky in those games, and has been quite involved.. I think he's always a danger and potentially going to get points no matter who Chelsea plays. Thoughts?

I don't have anything against him, but I play the fixtures especially when there are alternatives available.

I currently have Gerrard, and Bale, but will soon end up with Caz, Silva, and Bale.....Can always get Hazard back after his fixtures ease up.

Same here, I'm usually fixtures over form.. Although (technically) some players are fixture proof, but you weight that up on the GW. From watching Hazard though, he always looks a danger and is in amongst it most of the time. I am biased as a Chelsea fan, but I do try to look at it from a FF perspective. As a new player to the EPL, I think a lot of team's still don't have his number and know what to expect.

I've taken him out and feel like although he's a top player I'd rather do it early and get Santi in before Hazards price goes down and Cazorla's goes up.

I agree. It's easy to get frustrated with your player when he isn't getting you points but he is a class act and a couple of quieter games following some sublime ones doesn't mean he needs to be sold.

I agree, look at people dropping Michu with the fixtures of (this week) Reading and Wigan next.. I don't see the point in cutting someone out for a mini barren spell of 3 games. It's to be expected. Is it because too many people are chasing the bandwagon that has already bolted? I just can't understand why people would take out Michu against reading. Maybe it's the vodka in my head and I'm ranting!

Shirokov - Don't play online seasons with Ultimate team as the matchups are a shambles and my bronze south korean team was getting matched with gold PL teams with all the best players. Still beat the guy 2-1 but I stayed away since as i'm not throwing my bronze lambs to the slaughter.

Get a cheap bronze or silver team and play the cups as you will be matched up better. Pace in all areas but mostly in defence. And practice defending and using contain properly so you can frustrate the opponent and make it more difficult for him. Get a CAM with good shooting aswell so you can ping some long range shots in.

And do you guys have problems with EAS servers there too?

Also since we are on the topic of FUT (first time with FUT) -

      a) Which division are most of you guys in?
      b) Premium Gold Packs (7500) or auctions?
      c) How do you get players like Bale, Suarez, 86+ basically in your team....They are outrageously priced
      d) The ability to get points via real cash sucks like hell....I can't believe people do that!!!!

        a) 4, although I only started to play online seasons yesterday.

        b) Auctions all the way, NEVER BUY PACKS WITH COINS.

        c) Playing the market, getting players ubber cheap then selling them on for more, I got a Pirlo for 8k the other day and sold for 25k+.
Also using Position/Formation cards to increase a players value

        d) People are really that serious about the game, I have some friends who have spend around £50 already!! 😯 😀

            I always play a 4-1-2-1-2

Wouldn't mind trying the 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 though.

If you find a good player going much cheaper in a horrible formation, factor in the cost of a 4-1-2-1-2 card for example (approx 4k) add that on to the value you pay for the bad formation and work out if you can make profit on the resale in the new formation.

And a right or left winger is ideal in a 4-3-3 but not a 4-1-2-1-2 so a position modifier would be needed to convert them to a right or left midfielder.

EA servers are causing problems for everyone.

        a) Only played 3 matches in seasons mode as the matchups are a joke. Playing cup games instead for now.

        b) Auctions all day as you can implement strategies and trade smartly to make a profit. Packs are fun but essentially it's a gamble on whether you get a good pack or not. You could get lucky but most of the time you won't.

        c) You need be patient and gradually turn a small amount of coins into a big pot of money. I started UT and immediately send everything to my trade pile and sold it for as much as I could. That game me about 8k and I started picking up good deals on shiny rare players in good formations and re-sellimng them for at least double what I paid and your money will soon increase.

        d) Yeah stay away from that nonsense. EA are making a fortune from that and loads if idiots are willing to keep buying packs. Don't ever buy packs with coins. You get nothing in them!

        e) Chemistry is very important. I don't know the ins and outs but you need strong club/national links and good chemistry to get the best out of your team.

    I'm WC'ing from this team:

    Vorm Fed
    Verm Baines Demel Clyne Cuellar
    Kagawa Fellaini Michu Sterling Noble
    RVP Suarez Tevez

not decided what 15 im gonna settle on yet.

Whats the best way to earn money over the next two weeks? Coz any players I get in I need to rise 0.2 to benefit from them, if I'm not planning to keep. And I have a few players, like Tevez Fellaini Michu etc that I have money sitting on.

Anyone got any tips, bar the obvious 'get rising players, sell falling ones'

Yeh it is reasonably hard to make money, as you have to pick the players that you dont want that will rise 0.2 which there may not be many of. Also check the players you have already that may raise 0.1 more to cross your selling threshold, ones which you have already made money on.

Cheers tramp. Yeh ive transfered out players that haven't moved in price since I bought them. Got in a few defenders that I don't plan on keeping. Gonna have to keep a close eye on this over the next two weeks ha. Probably more hassle than its worth.

It's funny on the back of all this Ashley cole nonsense, Baines puts in an unbelievable performance and shows some true class. He should be the one with 98 caps!

Planning on using the WC, still not sure though. Getting Ivanovic in with those fixtures would be a good shout still? He's quite attacking, and going in the final 3rd more than he did last season.

        Taarabt is a bitch.

Granero is stunning. Have you seen his fixtures as well. Monitoring him next week as an alternative to Morrison. Can be benched GW9. On set-pieces (no idea on pens).
