In the first of three Numbers Game articles focusing on goal threat, we examine the leading midfielders on show with seven Gameweeks down. We investigate averages in our own ICT Index, before probing further to cast an eye over some key indicators amongst the current crop of top 20 midfielders for goal attempts thus far.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Let's not be so hasty. Yes, the fixtures turn sour, but I think keeping one as an 8th attacker (depending on your budget) could prove wise. Sadly, I don't think both can be kept.

Pienaar and Morrison are both very good options.

I think people are ditching Tevez too early. He's still the furthest forward City player, he's still the one who's starting. He's only had 1 start this season where he didn't either score or assist. Like RVP he is a fantastic FPL player in a slight lull.

Hmm. I would maybe look at selling one of HBA for Walters/Morrison/whoever else you like in that price bracket. I think Ben Arfa's a little overpriced given his production. You could also sell Ba for Berbs. Ba's performance has been amazing but it's been better than his stats deserve.

That sounds fine to me. I'd just rather double up on the City attack than Newcastle at the moment. On the other hand yaya is sort of 1.5ing on the City attack because half the time he plays defensive midfield.

This article concludes with my exact thoughts on my midfield. I have Fellaini/HBA and Michu, and two of them will be exiting my team, one this week and the other week after. Orignially i ws thinking HBA out for Cazorla this week and Michu to Silva next. Fellaini`s injury kind of had me relieved, because it meant that he "had to be dropped". HBA is such an amazing footballer in comparison to Fellaini, can really the stats be overlooked?

Amazing footballer doesn't mean points, even though fell is playing slightly further back, he still earns free kick around box so chance of assists and gets on at least 60% of corners.

Yes i know. Both have good fixtures going forward, HBA especially tempting home fixtures and this is where he usually shines. Only thing tempting me off Fellaini is since Mirallas came in he`s been playing a lot deeper than initially

Yeah, he`s had plenty good scoring chances these past games as well, so im not completely writing him off. Thing is, its just alot easier for my team if he stays injured. Gives me an excuse to not have him in my team anymore lol

only swa is captaincy consideration I think. Tough one, that list is a shocker, but you can't write Chelsea's assets off.

Think ill be doing just that! Matas fixtures are.."middling" but at his current price, he is a bargain that you can hold onto, cuddle and keep for a long time, barring something changing in Chelsea.

And someday, the masses will catch on and his price will rise fairly quickly.

I think he is in for a Silva season, ala last year and at 8.9/9.0m..that will do me!

If you can rationalise that run as not that bad then there may as well be no such thing as a bad run.

That said Mata is fine to to own - if you're challenging for the league you will score goals anyway.

It's really strange. I seem either smash teams 7-0 or lose 3-0. The gameplay is soo fast that I enjoy building the team more then playing the actual game. Current team:

      Szczesny
      Koscielny Vertonghan Cole
      Fellaini Dembele
      Ben Arfa Ruiz Chamberlain
      Hernandez Podolski

Subs: Coloccini, Tiote, Scholes, Taarabt, Ramirez, Berbatov, Giroud

      😎

Any updates on the injuries to Ridgewell & Demel?

On the FPL site Ridgewell is marked as "75% likely to play", and Demel "50%".

It's a shame as they're both great options for the next gameweek IMO.

Forget wildcard teams. Who are the attacking players you covet (including those you have) - you can nominate more than the allowed number in each position:

    For me...

Forwards: RVP, Aguero, Jelavic, Berb, Lambert, Ba, Crouch
Midfielders: Bale, Cazorla, Morrison, Pienaar, Nolan, Michu

Rotation risk: For now =, if City get knocked out of United go through this changes.
Chances of taking a penalty: =
      Finishing ability: =
      Set-piece delivery: RVP
      Fixtures: Aguero

      Aguero for me.
