Next up in this week’s series of articles focusing on goal threat are the forwards. Having analysed the midfielders yesterday, we turn our attentions to the men up front. First, we take a look at the potential hinted at by our very own ICT Index before digging deeper into the Opta statistics, highlighting a variety of crucial attacking indicators from the top 20 forwards in terms of goal attempts over the first seven Gameweeks of the new season…

Not even Liverpool fans think that. It must have been Brendan Rogers writing it. Maybe it's the document he gave Fenway when he applied for the job.

Tangtastic - are you around? May I pick your brain?

Major pre-season proponent of Tevez over Aguero - you talked me round and I'm delighted that you did.

Wondering where you're thinking of going from here? He's still got great stats, City look better with him on the pitch - on the other hand he hasn't scored in a bit and Aguero, now he's fallen in price - looks tasty when he's on.

Basically I don't think I'd drop him for anyone other than Aguero. And I still think he's one of the best value for money prospects in the game. Just wondering what you're thinking - seeing as you sold him to me in the first place!

    Cheers

Suarez's stats will always make you want to keep him (Taraabt does the same).

End of the day he's typically a poor finisher creating chances for other poor finishers.

There's an argument for that but I honestly believe he's been incredibly unlucky. He's woodwork rate is well known. I believe it's only a matter of time before he starts scoring, especially considering his international prowess. It just depends on when that time comes.

I think he hits the woodwork so much because he's always trying to bend or curl it into the flashiest looking shot. Also he likes cutting in, ending up at acute angles and not passing - then its much easier to hit the woodwork than the goal.

He should regress towards the mean as others do away from it - but not as dramatically as his stats may suggest IMO.

I can't disagree although I have this feeling he's about score loads, especially as he is about as unpopular as a player can get. Unpoetic justice? 😉

Whilst he did so very well, my real respect goes to those who records he broke. Doing something similar in the 60's took real balls. It looked a bit like a theatrical piece tonight.

Guys I'm really considering putting in Giroud for Fletcher for the next 2 game weeks, I already have Cazorla but I am sure Giroud will do well...What you think?

Already did Verm for Kolarov(drunken mistake...), so this would be for a hit.

    Team is
    Jaas (Foster)
    McAuley, Kolarov, Baines (Demel, Clyne)
    Pienaar, Cazorla, Hazard, Yaya, Michu
    Saurez, Ba (Fletcher)

I do want to get Berbs in before his value goes up, but the thing is everyone is getting Berbs for this weekend. Giroud might be a good differential to have, I do have Santi but he will assist more then score. I could take a real risk by doing -8 hit to get both in and take Ba and Fletcher out... I also have a WC. Should I just play it safe and get berbs or take the punt and either do Giroud or -8 for both?

ok it'd be interesting to get some feedback, as my captaincy choice is really hard for next GW. So far I've had 6 out of 7 failures, so let's see if anyone else can do better. (This team is assuming Ramirez is out for a few weeks, so I'd be selling him to Nolan). Who would YOU captain?

    Migs

That is a worry for sure, but I think SAF will know that it wont be easy against Stoke and will play all his main guys, especially with 2 wins in the bag in CL and Braga not looking very strong- he will probably be able to rest some of his main guys against them.

I dont know if you agree- but I think this year Stoke are much better. Last year was all this rotation at CB with Upson/Woodgate also with no clear nr 1 keeper and they were totally unable to keep the ball while this season they are a bit better at that.

The game was also sandwiched between Chelsea away and Arsenal away in a 14 day period.

              I could be wrong though.

    Bego - Jaas
Baines - Rafael - Caulker - Ivanovic- Demel

Tempted to do something similar with mine but having to keep RVP changes things a lot. Silva and Gerrard in midfield is cool, don't like Lambert I'd go for Kone over him, oh and Caulker has some difficult games coming up, when they come to an end he could be out of the side. Decent team.

thanks 🙂 I was late starting this season but have run with this strategy since GW3 and averaged 61 points each week so pretty happy with that. Kone is .4 more than Lambert so not sure i can afford him. I see your point about Caulker but only planning to play 3 defenders and the others rotate pretty well with him. All players chosen for goal threat more than anything else.

    Begorvic / fed
    Baines / Hangeland / Demel/ Jenkinson/ ridgewell
    Michu/ bale/ Yaya/ Nolan/ kacanklic
    RVP /tevez/ Berbatov

Last few weeks got stung by bad transfers brought Berbatov in for Torres and ridgewell, maybe I should have used my wc two weeks ago to fix my mistakes. Two free transfers available and 1.1 million in bank would happily make one more for a hit.

Want to get rid of the following: fed, jenkinson, Hangeland and Yaya, but at a loss to who to bring. Thinking of Yaya to Cazorla and fed to McCarthy and Hangeland to shawcross and bench him against united, amy thoughts?
