Next up in this week’s series of articles focusing on goal threat are the forwards. Having analysed the midfielders yesterday, we turn our attentions to the men up front. First, we take a look at the potential hinted at by our very own ICT Index before digging deeper into the Opta statistics, highlighting a variety of crucial attacking indicators from the top 20 forwards in terms of goal attempts over the first seven Gameweeks of the new season…
Mach 1.24, but I didnt see a sonic boom!
Open ControlsAny opinions on how I can improve my team:
Begovic (Gazzaniga)
Hughes / Demel / Baines (Gorkks / Wilson)
Bale / Cazorla / Nolan / Michu (Sterling)
Van Persie / Jelavic / Suarez (c)
0.2m in the bank.Open ControlsDon't understand the RVP pick now...he'll score a sackfull of points but i bet there won't be much between him and Rooney come seasons end...all depends on who will be taking the free kicks and pens...I'd swap RVP for Rooney personally and bank...

Is wisdom nailed on for Liverpool?
Open Controlsno, not nailed on. it would only take Enrique, Kelly or Flanagan to be fit and Wisdom would be on the bench IMO
Open Controlsnot flanagan, kelly's out for season
so it just depends on enriques fitnessOpen Controls
Nothing wise is never nailed on at Liverpool FC, that's why they spent £35 million on Andy Carroll.
Open Controls
For those interested. David Gold on twitter just now:
"@RobWatson96: How are Demel and Reid doing? Will they be fit for saints?" We are hoping that both will be available for Saturday. DG
He also aid Vaz Te should be out for 8 weeks and Collison will be back soon. Nothing better than having a chairmen on twitter you can ask about fpl matters hahaOpen Controlsnice
Open ControlsExcellent! Thanks for that.
Open Controls...also, Reid has travelled to NZ and is expected to play in a WC qualifier tomorrow - so his back injury doesn't seem to be serious.

for anyone going to chelsea match at the weekend.......Open ControlsThoughts on Walters/ Sterling rotation? The fixtures fell nicely till January. I am tempted surely. Walters is a beast at home too
Open ControlsJaaskalainen (Begovic)
Demel Baines B.Davies (Clyne Nelsen)
Mata Bale Michu Ben Arfa (Sterling)
Podolski Van Persie (C) Tevez
I have one free transfer and i have no idea what to do. Am i all set to sit tight? Any help will be apreciated!Open ControlsNo Giroud in the captaincy poll. Surely he'd be a nice differential this week?
Open ControlsGiroud is far from a donkey imo, some players don't settle immediately, looked classy in last game.
Open ControlsI hear ya. He's still a donkey that's player up in front of a very creative team. But yeh, I hear ya, he is an absolute waster. Still cant seem to shake the thought though.
Open ControlsAn absolute waster? You very likely will be eating those words by x mas.
Open Controls
You gotta laugh at how people are dismissing Giroud...
Open ControlsI agree. I believe he's just finding his feet in England. He looked decent last week. I agree with Kostja though, owning him would probably be a punt enough, no need to go mad and captain him.
Open ControlsCrazy talk, and use of words, donkey, waster etc, his finish, and assist we're not the work of a donkey.
Open ControlsI agree, and his stats last year suggest he is rather good. He seemed to almost single-handedly win Montpellier the title.
Open Controls
If it was usual Sunday I would be thinking should I act before the price changes. How is different, bloody international brakes. This is silly really.
Open ControlsYeah I mean breaks. Sorry
Open Controls
Yeah and the question would have been:
Is Michu and Suarez out for Silva and Berbatov worth a hit? I must do it tonight due to price changes.Open ControlsNext 4 for:
Silva SWA whm TOT AVL
Berbatov rdg EVE ars SUN
vs:
Michu mci CHE sot new
Suarez eve NEW che WIG
P.S.Suarez will get red card against Eve for sureOpen Controls
"international brakes" is a perfect description 🙂
Open Controlsthanks man it is actually will use it from now on
Open Controls
Them's the breaks.
Open Controlshate when this happens. Some kind of a distraction and no one cares about my question
Open Controls
Whilst it's deader than a dodo in here, anybody care to make suggestions on my team?
Schwarzer
Baines Hangeland Demel
Hazard Bale Gervinho Sterling
RVP Jelavic Crouch
1 FT .1 ITB (Al-Habsi, Ramirez, Boyce, Wilson)
Cuurent thinking is Hazard + Ramirez > Silva + Nolan (-4) or RVP + Ramirez > Silva + Berba but not sure. What do others think?Open ControlsJust bring in Nolan for Ramirez.
Open ControlsOnly .1 in the bank otherwise I would.
Open Controls
wouldn't be hitting with that team.
Open Controlslooks pretty good scroob, not sure id want to get rid of rvp tho
Open ControlsCheers. I'm not sure either.
Open Controls
Hazard and Crouch to Nolan and Berba?
Open ControlsNot keen on losing Crouch - their fixtures are good coming up and the few goals Stoke will score go through that gangly thing.
Open Controls
Ramirez to someone like Maloney? They do rotate pretty well.
Open ControlsHmm. I do want to own Maloney at some point.
You'd start him over Crouch right?Open Controls
You need some Newcastle. Imo.
Open ControlsYeah possibly. Will cope this week though.
Open Controls
Don't fancy just Hazard to Silva for no hit? Don't need much improvement there, and RVP gives you a safe captain.
Open ControlsCould be sensible. Can sort Ramirez out later I suppose.
Open ControlsI am overly cautious though tbh, don't take 4 point hits lightly, but your first 11 is strong enough to not warrant 2 transfers. Not like Gaston is gonna drop soon, and if you bring in another midfielder you'll be sweating on Sterling v Reading!
Open Controls
Crouch to Berba and leave it alone for another week. Your midfield is fine this week.
Open Controlsdon't really think HBA will be that consistent over season, and he'll never be prolific. have him too but thinking of getting rid. i'd stick with ba
Open Controlsme too. yeah i'd be looking at swapping, over course of a few weeks, wouldn't hit on it.
Open Controls
Ba is degression candidate and HBA has bad stats.
I would pick Cisse and really considering him tooOpen ControlsBa will go to Liv in January btw
Open Controls
Who would you drop this week out of these? Finding it tough to choose given the fixtures.
Pienaar Michu Sterling Morrison Gervinho
RVP Suarez TevezOpen ControlsOk WC is still active, have 0.2 left, any ideas would be appreciated;
Begovic (Gazzaniga)
Hughes / Demel / Baines (Gorkks / Wilson)
Bale / Cazorla / Nolan / Michu (Sterling)
Van Persie / Jelavic / Suarez (c)Open Controlsdont bother with gazza
Open Controls
Felix Baumgartner's free fall has broken the previous world record, overtaking Rangers' descent to the fourth tier of Scottish football. 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆
Open ControlsCloser look to Berbatov fixtures. OUCH
Open ControlsBerba = Fixture Proof
Open ControlsBe much tougher for him at Fulham, particularly away from home, has a habit of getting disheartened in games, when things don't go his way, a trait which annoyed SAF.
Open Controls
I think you're not qualified to talk about fixtures from what you posted above.
Open ControlsHome to Villa- Captain Material.
Away @ Reading- Piss easy fixture given how shite Reading's defence is.
Home to Everton- Not too bad a game, expect goals for both teams.
Away @ Arsenal- No way Mertesacker will be able to stop Berba from nut-megging him a few times.Open ControlsWell I am looking for Suarez replacement next week so without VILLA we have:
rdg EVE ars SUN sto che
4 away games beside Rdg all bad Ars Sto Che one of best league defenses. EVE and SUN at home also great defenses.
Now Parm now?Open Controlshahahah u never give up parm u never give up 😛
Open Controls
mert has been beastly this season
Open ControlsFirst two games are good. Then they have EVE, ars, SUN, sto, che, TOT, NEW
Fulham are crap away and against good opposition will probably lose to nil. Everton is a fixture they could win but I don't think they will score too many. Sunderland are a good team defensively but Berba could easily get one or two in this game. Spurs and Newcastle games could go either way.Open Controls
Anyone doing Suarez to Cisse next week?
Open ControlsMy rival started using this site I went being Cool J 😉
Because Cisse is a differential and with his stats he is positive regression candidate and Ba on the other hand is a degression candidate.
Like last year when it changed. Cisse is still good striker. I believe it is his turn to start scoring. Ba is over achievingOpen ControlsPositive regression...hehe 😀
Open Controls
Just got myself a new dog.
What should I name him?
Felix, Red Bull or Stratos?Open ControlsIs he a Bulldog? If so then just Red
Open ControlsRangers 😛
Open Controlsred bull the dog! seriously?
Open Controlsjeremiah thunderfoot. rumplestiltskin. honey boo boo. snuffleupagus
Open Controlsunicornucopia. punkfish. tablewhine. howlin' wolf

Steve. Steve the dog.

For anybody doubling up on Hammers defense: Check GWs 10-19. 🙂
Open Controlschecked. now what?
Open ControlsThere's a guy in the top 10/20 who tripled up on Wham the other week...smart move 😯
Open ControlsI proposed a triple West Ham/Stoke defence rotation back in July. Unfortunately, I didn't go through with it.
Open ControlsWell I had double West Ham to start with which worked out well...it was to do with fixtures though and people bringing them in now are probably not going to get many CS
Open Controls
Interesting that a guy in an interview on the other site who is ranked 316 (team name: Anti Top Four) has set himself a rule of no top 4 players from last season. He's doing pretty well out of it too!
Open Controlsi've seen him around here from time to time! doesn't link his team or have a grav though... what a shame. *cough cough*
Open ControlsHere we go
http://fantasy.premierleague.com/entry/36284/history/
Look at his season history.Open Controlswho is top 4 according to him actually?
Open ControlsLast season's top 4. However, last season he was using the traditional big 4 (Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool) so could pick City and Spurs players then. Also meant he avoided Chelsea and Liverpool players who were mostly flops FPL wise last season.
Open ControlsBy the looks of it City, United, Arsenal, Spurs. The top 4 from last season.
Open Controls
first season: not too great
last season: not bad considering the constraints he put on himself. think how last season would've gone with no rvp or rooney. granted it was my first season and i made a couple big mistakes towards the end, including sleeping through the deadline of the dgw and missing the transfers i was gunna do, but he still only got 20 points less than me.
his constraints are certainly helping him this year so far thoughOpen Controls
He captained Graham two weeks in a row...I have no respect for him.
Open Controls
anyone see the price v harrison fight the other night? brutal end
Open ControlsEA servers down again. 😐
What's new?Open ControlsAdvice needed!!! Wanting to fit James Morrison of WBA into my team for Mark Noble, but need to save a million. I am thinking of taking out Rangel from my defence and bringing in another budget def at 4 million to afford the midfield change. I already have Joey O'Brien budget at the back. Would mean getting McCartney, a Southampton, QPR or Norwich def... is Morrison and a 2nd budget def worth it over Noble and Rangel? Thoughts appreciated!
Open ControlsI think with cheap defs, you have to make sure they rotate well. You therefore need someone who rotates well with O'Brien ... Southampton Rotate well as do Reading..
Open ControlsDo you think its worth it... i could stick with noble and rangel, or twist and upgrade to morrison, but have to downgrade to a cheap def... its whether it would actually be any benefit or not!
Open Controls
Begovic, Foster
Hangeland, Kompany, Rangel, O'Brien, Rafael
Silva, Cazorla, Noble, Pienaar, Dempsey
Jelavic, Torres, PogOpen Controls
Hi guys, Advice please...
I'm bored and only have internet for company...
Got .9m in bank and was thinking of a couple of transfers just to tidy up my def: Davies and Clark to Wilson and Caulkner with my 2 FTs. Whatya think? See anything better?
Jaas
Jenks, Hughes, Baines
Hazard, (c) Pienaar, Michu, Cazorla
RVP, Berbs, (v) Tevez
(Bego, Guthrie, Davies, Clark)Open Controlsjenks will likely lose place to sagna shortly, and don't fancy caulker to keep place.
Open Controls
How far ahead do you guys "Plan"?
I currently have no "Plan" 😕Open ControlsWell my transfer is usually guided by:
4 home games in next 6
3 in 5
2 in a row
double gw
etc etc ....Open ControlsUsually 2-3 weeks but plans always get screwed. Flexibility is the key for me.
Open Controlsso never more than 6 but I tend to have a rule don't buy a player if u don't intend to keep him at least 4 weeks
Open Controls
Varies. At the moment I have very little in the way of plans, just some general ideas and I can't follow all of them. Had I stuck to my plan the past few weeks since wildcarding I would be significantly better off now.
Open Controlsuse the 6 week ticker a bit, but certainly no more than that
Open Controls6ticker for me too
Open Controls
I just put the armband on RVP and get on with my life.
Open ControlsI'm just here to keep tabs on RVP injury updates
Open Controls
Take each week as it comes.
Open ControlsI have a plan until GW11 now. Injuries will likely feck that though
Open ControlsI don't even have a pl
Open Controls5 weeks for overall 'fixture' based plans, 3 for 'form' based plans of players i cant bring in imediately....however this all usually goes out the window with injuries and massive knee jerks
Open Controls
@ Cool J, if you look at last season whoever was playing as the main striker got all the goals- unless Pardew puts Cisse back up front instead of Ba I see no reason for a big recession.
Open ControlsCisse is up front.
Open ControlsNo he is not- he actually was in the first games. But now Ba is the furthest forward. Cisse is behind Ba, it not like in the hole but something similar(im not a football expert- so dont know how to call it) Just check out the game maps for average position- it is noticable in the games too.
Open ControlsKostja I like your thinking really and especially those UCL posts. BTW beside GW7 Cisse played centrally. I don't' believe it is gonna continue to be a pattern.
CIsse wait 4 it 😉Open ControlsPapiss Cisse through seven weeks this season. He's registered a very useful 16 shots (12th among forwards), but has managed to hit the target just 4 times (t28th), not scoring in the process.
last season he hit the target with 54% of his shots, and did so with 46% of his shots in the Bundesliga with Freiburg. Therefore, it's likely that his 25% hit-the-target-rate should also improve, perhaps to as high as 50%, which would give him a projected eight shots on target for the year and thus an expected goal haul of between two and four for the year to date. Either way the data suggests he is due for some positive regression, the way we split it just dictates how much.
He is so gonnna scoreeeeeeeeeOpen ControlsHe will score he is owned by 4% of the players has the fixtures and is better striker than Ba. What is there not to like
The fixtures also goodOpen Controls
Apart from that.
Open ControlsKostja?
Open Controls
Does Anyone have opinions about Mata ? Still 8.9 reckon he might be a season keeper
Open Controlsthink he's probably a better real life player than fpl player. doesn't really score enough goals
Open Controls
damn damn damn no football
i am gonna watch the latest MOTD and will go to bad.
night allOpen Controls* bed arhhhhhhhhhhhh
Open Controls
Right... goodnight then guys!! Thanks for the wonderful insight and sterling advice! 😡
