We’ve got Paddy on the ropes again. A week after our bookmaker friends clawed back our early season winnings, we’re now firmly in profit after back-to-back wins. Following a treble windfall back in Gameweek 13, Christian Benteke and Aston Villa delivered the goal and clean sheet we needed to recall another victory in midweek. Now let’s see if can make it a hat-trick of wins with this week’s Scout Picks inspired markets…

Theo Walcott is first up – another man in form having scored the Gunners’ goal at Goodison on Wednesday. Walcott picked up an ankle knock in that game but trained on Friday and will be expected to be the key threat when Swansea visit the Emirates. This one looks a lip-smacker and with Walcott so integral to Arsenal’s goal threat, we like the look of odds of 5/1 on a Theo goal with a Gunners clean sheet against a Swansea side who have scored just three times in their last five away trips. We’ll take this one for £2 of our stake.

West Brom’s Shane Long crops up next. The impish striker is another in bloom, having notched five times for the Baggies this term. He will go into the clash with Stoke fully rested having sat on the bench for the defeat to Swansea in midweek. Steve Clarke has demanded a reaction to that setback and a win with a Long goal looks a favourable outcome. With West Brom keeping four clean sheets at the Hawthorns this season and Stoke likely to be without Peter Crouch, we’re more than happy with Paddy’s odds of 11/2 on a Long goal with a West Brom shut-out. We’re throw another £2 at that one.

We’re all waiting on QPR’s resurgence under Harry Redknapp and, with Villa at Loftus Road this weekend, there seems to be a perfect opportunity to get the ball rolling. Scout Pick Adel Taarabt is a player we’ve talked plenty about on the site over the season so far, and, as Chris Glover’s Moneyball article revealed, we’re just waiting on Taarabt to deliver on his numbers. This weekend would be a perfect time to start and with Paddy dangling 9/1 on a Taarabt goal with a QPR clean sheet, we can’t resist. This is our bet of the week which gets a healthy £4 stake.

That leaves a couple of quid for our usual treble punt. We couldn’t let the Gameweek pass without bringing Luis Suarez into events so Paddy’s treble offers 12/1 on a Suarez goal against Southampton, a David Silva assist against Everton and a West Brom clean sheet at home to Stoke. That combination gets our final £2 as we look to claim our third win in a week from Paddy.

Register and Bet £10 And Get £20 Free

If you’re new to Paddy Power, then you can take up any of these odds and get yourself a bonus. You can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register an account and bet a tenner.

Finally of course, we should state that all these offers are only available to those aged 18 and over and are subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. Also, if you’re going to bet, always gamble responsibly.

Walcott has more explosive potential, but also a risk of getting absolutely nothing and broken spaghetti legs.

Cazorla will keep ticking along with guaranteed starts and half decent points.

      Choose based on that innit.

I swapped to Walcott a few weeks ago and although he has missed the odd game through injury, I am up on the deal. I am more confident of returns from Walcott than Cazorla - but there is usually a anxious wait for team sheets - so if you have bench fodder you trust then Walcott otherwise stick to Cazorla.

    Sterling, Michu, Nolan, Bale
    Suarez, Ba, RVP

    Begovic, Walters, Huth, Rangel

Went Ruddy & Baines --> Szcz & Enrique this week.

Feel as though I am really lacking an Arsenal player. Any thoughts on who (Walcott or Giroud) and how I can accomodate them in my team?

I'm considering sellling Ba before next week (4 tough games) and Nolan to accomodate Walcott and Long.

    Thoughts?

REPOST FOR ALL YOU NEW PAGE PONIES:

Pop Quiz Hot Shots — Does the rule about never captaining a defender apply when said DF plays on the left wing?

    Saturday sanity check:

    Bego
    Enrique(c) Demel Nelson
    Cazorla Silva Bale Fellaini
    RVP Suarez(vc) Berbatov

    Subs: Foster Puncheon Shorey Clyne

It's a perfectly acceptable little punt, far better than the guy who wanted to captain Sterling.

Ultimately I would save it for a fixture when the away team is less likely to score. Southampton have good attackers.

By the way, the rule about never captaining a defender is guff, if just rarely comes up that they would be expected to score the same as an attacker. It normally takes bad fixtures for the key attacking players in the game to justify it.

Is I just me who thinks Enrique has looked like a fish out of water on the left wing. It seemed like midway through the second half Rodgers gave up and moved him to left back. I expect Assaidi to play or maybe Shelvey instead. I think Enrique owners need to be concerned over who will play at full back Wisdom or Enrique. You may have just bought an expensive sub left back...might as well have gone the whole hog and signed Kolorov!

I'm not sure he is nailed on (despite like you said clearly being a better defender) ahead of Wisdom. Personally I prefer Jonhson for £0.3M more. I would prefer to bring in any of Mertesacker/Evana/Nasticic ahead of him. Don't think he is the worst pick but talk of captaincy and point hits is ridiculous.

I disagree doos, in respect of getting opportunities he was up there, the offside goal against swansea was touch and go or me . Put it into perspective, He's not a winger but a defender being used as a winger and that to me says he is doing pretty well. Even being played as a defender i would be tempted at 5.8 with liverpools fixtues but being used OOP makes him a must imo

Sorry gentlemen, stepped away from the screen for a few mins.
Regarding the rumours about the Giroud being rested , they COULD be true.

However, he has played every single Premier LEague game for Arsenal. I think Wenger would be smart to play him up front and not Gervinho (he's leaving for ACN anyway?)

    Thoughts?

The problem here is that he has played a lot of games in a row and they have a important CL game coming up. So rotation is very possible

            Have already qualified.

Finishing 1st or 2nd in the group doesn't seem to be that important, looking at the other groups.
And if the goal is to win, then why worry about the route?

Just one of many stats, but the fact that no less than thirteen clubs have scored more goals at home this season than Liverpool and zero clubs have scored more goals away from home this season than Manchester United is swaying me towards giving RVP the armband, Southampton have also hit a bit of form lately (2 wins & 2 draws in their last 4, conceding only 3) while Reading continue to struggle (one win in their last 10 and beaten by fellow strugglers Wigan & Villa in their last 2).

I feel that if one of these teams is going to score 3 or 4 today it's much more likely to be top of the table United than the mediocre Liverpool.

    There, convinced myself, RVP(C)!!

If you have Suarez, there will be no worries about rotation at all (other than a ban). It's a place you can forget about. I did Tevez > Suarez (for free though) and I also have Sterling and now Enrique.

TM, I guess I could do, but I don't think Suarez will pick up a yellow before the New Year.

But Tevez can be just as explosive as Suarez.I'm also thinking if Suarez does score, Sterling/Enrique could be in on the assists, so a bit of a cushion.
