634x258 Suspensions

Four players fell foul of the five-yellows limit in Gameweek 20, with Gareth Bale the most high profile protagonist to earn a one-match suspension ahead of a home match with Reading. West Ham pair Kevin Nolan and James Collins also sit on the naughty step for their game against Norwich at Upton Park, as does Bradley Johnson of Norwich City…

Despite seeing red on Saturday, Steven Nzonzi will be available for Stoke’s trip to City after the club lodged an appeal for wrongful dismissal last weekend. The midfielder was set to serve a three-match suspension for a challenge on Southampton’s Jack Cork but he’ll take his place in a likely rearguard effort at City in tomorrow’s clash.

Conflicting reports surround Samir Nasri’s availability. The Frenchman was handed a straight red for his “headbutt” attempt on Norwich’s Seb Bassong at the weekend – while the local press reported the club had decided to appeal, the Mail, however, have suggested that City won’t appeal. Earlier today, Roberto Mancini admitted he was uncertain whether the club would take any action – a three-match ban would see the Frenchman miss an FA Cup clash with Watford and league trip to former club Arsenal, in addition to the Potters’ clash.

The New Year brings a little more leeway now, with the Suspension Tightrope loosening considerably. Players now have to accrue 10 yellow cards to trigger an automatic suspension – if they reach that landmark by the second Sunday in April (Gameweek 33), they will be handed a two-match ban. So far, there are five players just three bookings away from – Luis Suarez, James Perch, Angel Rangel, Craig Gardner and Mark Noble have all received seven cautions apiece. Our sidebar widget has been updated accordingly and will be tracking all the way through to the April 14 date.

Elsewhere this week, Marouane Fellaini returns to the Everton fold for a trip to Newcastle after completing a three-match ban, while Mike Williamson will be hoping to help shore up the Magpies defence after he sat out the 7-3 loss at Arsenal due to a one-match ban. Stoke will be relieved Ryan Shawcross and Geoff Cameron are back in contention for the trip to City, having conceded three at home to Southampton in the duo’s enforced absence at the weekend. Fabian Delph is available for Villa once again, as Paul Lambert tries to address his side’s woeful form as they head to Swansea tomorrow.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

I just know if I dont get Walcott i'll end up having to replace Cazorla with Walcott as his prices goes up so much.

I also fear if I go for Walcott, i'll wanna swap for Fellaini almost instantly.

Just get Walcott in for the double, downgrade a player to a cheapie to afford it if you need to. I'll probably do Bale to Walcott before GW 23 and then WC the following week to get Bale back in. I want to have 3x Arsenal players and at least 1xWH for the DGW

I, sadly, had to give up Bale to afford Fellaini and Walcott (Walcott mostly because of the DGW and before the price rise). I just hope it won't come back to bite me in the ass when Spurs meet QPR.

He had Saurez as skipper last week.

I was going to bring Torres in but am now thinking about Suarez instead to counter him and hope RVP makes the difference ?

Is this worth a transfer or two?

    Begovic

    Skrtel // Cuellar // Sagna // Demel

    Walcott // Michu // McAnuff

    RVP // Suarez // Berbatov

    Bench: Bale, Nolan, Clyne

Considering taking a hit so I don’t have to play McAnuff and I really want Fellaini back, but I’ll want both Bale and Nolan in the coming weeks, so should I leave it? 1FT, 0 banked.

After moaning about his strike force being crap, it would be a dick move to split them up after scoring 4 against a tough Norwich team that united failed to break down.

Hmmm. Stuck with the plan of having Yaya for the 3 games Fellaini was suspended. He got 3, 1, 5 and had quite a few goalscoring opportunities. Home to stoke ain't looking that bad. Given a little uncertainty over whether Fellaini will pick up exactly where he left off, is it worth saving the transfer?

Just my opinion though. But given the opportunity for rest after this weeks games and the performance of Aguero and Dzeko against Norwich when Manchini was criticising his strikers for failing to score beforehand it would be unwise to change it.

Can see him being unleashed later on though. But starting looks unlikely, yet with Manchini you never know. Maybe all three will start?

yep, hes very consistent with returns. he's played more minutes than the others but still those 113 points are on the board.

Excellent; Cup opponents give which means no way they could take Berbs assist away now!

Need to remove Bale in order of having a chance of playing 11 this GW. I want a one week punt, unlimited budget. Bale will be back in on my WC which will be played ASAP.

Lampard, Hazard, Gerrard, Dempsey, Kagawa, Young? Any others worth considering..?

Oh yes, I forgot about the double. Would want Bale back immediately though, he is a beast and will be playing the worst team in the league.

My opponent has only made 11 transfers all season. He did Tevez > Suarez 2 days ago so he is definitely putting some thought into it.

His WC team could destroy me in the cup. I have no Chelsea players so I think that could seal my fate if he gets 2 or 3 for the QPR game.

i went into GW20 thinking I had a strong team with the potential for a big score (as you always do!). I had a miserable week and lost my H2H to a hist ship who had never made a transfer and had scored 16 points the previous week! Too many variables in this game to guarantee anything
