634x258 Suspensions

Four players fell foul of the five-yellows limit in Gameweek 20, with Gareth Bale the most high profile protagonist to earn a one-match suspension ahead of a home match with Reading. West Ham pair Kevin Nolan and James Collins also sit on the naughty step for their game against Norwich at Upton Park, as does Bradley Johnson of Norwich City…

Despite seeing red on Saturday, Steven Nzonzi will be available for Stoke’s trip to City after the club lodged an appeal for wrongful dismissal last weekend. The midfielder was set to serve a three-match suspension for a challenge on Southampton’s Jack Cork but he’ll take his place in a likely rearguard effort at City in tomorrow’s clash.

Conflicting reports surround Samir Nasri’s availability. The Frenchman was handed a straight red for his “headbutt†attempt on Norwich’s Seb Bassong at the weekend – while the local press reported the club had decided to appeal, the Mail, however, have suggested that City won’t appeal. Earlier today, Roberto Mancini admitted he was uncertain whether the club would take any action – a three-match ban would see the Frenchman miss an FA Cup clash with Watford and league trip to former club Arsenal, in addition to the Potters’ clash.

The New Year brings a little more leeway now, with the Suspension Tightrope loosening considerably. Players now have to accrue 10 yellow cards to trigger an automatic suspension – if they reach that landmark by the second Sunday in April (Gameweek 33), they will be handed a two-match ban. So far, there are five players just three bookings away from – Luis Suarez, James Perch, Angel Rangel, Craig Gardner and Mark Noble have all received seven cautions apiece. Our sidebar widget has been updated accordingly and will be tracking all the way through to the April 14 date.

Elsewhere this week, Marouane Fellaini returns to the Everton fold for a trip to Newcastle after completing a three-match ban, while Mike Williamson will be hoping to help shore up the Magpies defence after he sat out the 7-3 loss at Arsenal due to a one-match ban. Stoke will be relieved Ryan Shawcross and Geoff Cameron are back in contention for the trip to City, having conceded three at home to Southampton in the duo’s enforced absence at the weekend. Fabian Delph is available for Villa once again, as Paul Lambert tries to address his side’s woeful form as they head to Swansea tomorrow.

A lot of people against the Aguero-to-Suarez move here. That ways, I won't be able to get Fellaini for Taarabt. So who'll score more points this week?

    A) Aguero and Taarabt

    B) Suarez and Fellaini

The one without Taarabt. Also, after shipping a few goals last game, Pulis will want a reaction. Can't see Stoke conceding many this week. So, Suarez + Fellaini.

Michu has 2 dead patches of 3 weeks. One of these was GWs 3,4,5 when Hernandez got game time but not full matches. In fact against Reading he only played around 29 minutes, Michu still didn't score. His second dead patch came against City, Chelsea and SOTON. You're right that Hernandez played these matches and it coincided. Then again, against WBA Hernandez set up Michu's goal. So it's a tough comparison to make really.

Michu's last 3 home games when Hernandez didn't play or played less than 45 minutes = 26 points, Michu's last 3 home games when Hernandes played more than 45 minutes = 13 points

Decided not to transfer out Bale as I want him next week.
Am thinking Punchy > Fellaini with my free. Is it ok to have both him and Pienaar this one week?

So thinking Bale -> Oscar/Fellaini/Hazard/Kagawa for a one week.

Oscar is leading, nearly guaranteed good time and in his last 2 matches where he got more than 10 minutes on he either scored or assisted. Would have went Hazard but he's in for a rest, Fella is going to be against a Newcastle team aiming to restore pride and Kags is just back from injury.

I think long-term Bale and Mata will outscore him and Michu and Fellaini are better value pound per point. I'd transfer him in if there's a run of good fixtures (like now), but I don't think he'll continue this level of performance.

        That doesn't mean much.

Alot of people were whingeing that they benched or never owned Cuellar after the City game yet before the games Cuellar (h) to City was a bad idea.

Sunderland and Stoke are tight defensively and I don't see them conceding many here.

Davies and McAuley look much better for you on paper but that doesn't mean they are nailed on for a CS. It's all very unpredictable anyway and as long as you have defenders that generally don't concede many you are playing the odds.

Up against a better class of ghost team this week.

    Begovic
    Agger McAuley Reid Ridgewell
    Toure Pienaar Arteta Lennon
    Suarez (VC) Van Persie (C)

    Gazzinga, Jenkinson, Sidwell, Long

Should I be scared by this? (Because I am!) I hadn't planned on captaining RVP, I don't want to be led away from playing my own game, but I feel I ought to go with him to cover myself here?

its been discussed alot on this. The people who have him think he'll play and the people who dont have him are convincing themselves he'll be rested. Its 50/50 for me, if i had him id be happy but i wouldnt transfer him in personally.

Worth doing a hit for him?

As I need to bring in Gibbs and Podolski these 2 coming weeks and still avoid DAvies' inevitable price rise before GW 24,
sooner or later I will definitely bring him in for a hit; reckon now is the best timing, yes?

These fixtures are coming thick and fast! Wondering what to do with this week's free:

Option 1: Federici to Turnbull (presuming Cech out) and play Sterling with Bale benched (Turnbull to go in winter WC)
Option 2: Bale to Mata and play Begovic vs Man City or Federici vs Spurs

This is complicated by the fact that I may want Bale back in next week vs QPR rather than Mata vs Stoke, and may need an early transfer (with cup tie inbetween) to avoid a price rise preventing this if he goes up in price more than once. I'd also need to play Begovic at home to Chelsea next week.

I'm thinking option A is more secure - what do you guys think?
