Southampton register their first win under Mauricio Pochettino, with Jason Puncheon bagging the opener and Rickie Lambert chipping in with a pair of assists at St Mary’s. Edin Dzeko’s sixth goal in his last six starts proves no more than consolation for the visitors – the result means United now have the chance to establish a 12 point lead over their neighbours, providing they see off Everton at Old Trafford:

On the Up

Rickie Lambert
Having scored against the champions in Gameweek 1, the Saints forward once again highlighted his fixture-proof appeal by bagging a pair of assists. Lambert has now scored or assisted in six of the last nine and has moved to 128 FPL points – third best scoring forward behind only Robin Van Persie and Luis Suarez.

Jason Puncheon
The winger fired home the opener to underline his popularity as a cut-price midfield option. Puncheon has now returned four goals and six assists this term and has racked up more points than any other midfielder in the 5.0 and under bracket.

Edin Dzeko
Selected alongside Sergio Aguero for the St Mary’s trip, the Bosnian continued a strong run of form which has now plundered six goals and two assists in his last six starts. Dzeko’s somewhat fortuitous strike means he has produced returns in all six of those first-team appearances – at 7.4 in FPL, his mid-price appeal goes from strength to strength.

Steven Davis
Handed the role in “the hole†due to Gaston Ramirez’s knock, Davis grabbed the second in an impressive display. While his 4.5 price appeals, it’s worth noting this was his first start under Mauricio Pochettino – Davis has climbed off the bench after the break in each of the previous three.

Going Down

Carlos Tevez
According to Roberto Mancini, the Argentine’s omission was down to “personal reasons†with other reports elaborating further and suggesting family matters were to blame. Nevertheless, with Dzeko maintaining his run of form, Tevez could well face a task to regain his starting berth – he has scored once from Gameweek 13 onwards by comparison.

Matija Nastasic
The return of Yaya Toure allowed Mancini to shift Javi Garcia into central defence, with the teenager omitted from the squad due to fatigue. A run of 11 starts in 12 between Gameweek 9 and 20 had suggested he was all but nailed-on but with just 55 minutes game time in the last three, Nastasic’s minutes are lessening as the season heats up. Given his side’s somewhat spineless showing, Vincent Kompany’s return can’t come soon enough for Mancini.

Hope le Fondre gets more than a token runout next game week. Bought him in to fund the big 5 in midfield and really need him to play next game week. My transfer plans (barring injury/suspension) are:

    Gerrard to Fellaini
    Enrique to Evra/Evans

    Seem good?

Is Suarez likely to fall by 0.1 by next GW with people selling him due to blank GW?

Then I can sell him to field 11 for GW27 and get him back for GW28... Otherwise will be 0.1 short to get him back...

For the amount of time and money he's had I'd expect a little more than pipping an average United side to the title last year. I may be being a bit harsh, CL poor show for two years is inexcusable to me. I don't buy the "tough group" thing people say about that. Ajax...

A lot of Mancini bashing about and will admit he seems to have lost that team this season but he did win a title for a club that had not won one for a very long time so I would say he did very well against his quietly proud neighbours.

"There was a fantastic universal sense that whatever we were doing was right, that we were winning. And that, I think, was the handle - that sense of inevitable victory over the forces of Old and Evil. Not in any mean or military sense; we didn't need that. Our energy would simply prevail. There was no point in fighting - on our side or theirs. We had all the momentum; we were riding the crest of a high and beautiful wave. So now, less than five years later, you can go up on a steep hill in Las Vegas and look West, and with the right kind of eyes you can almost see the high-water mark - the place where the wave finally broke and rolled back."

My FFS Cup opponent has Bale as vice captain with Tremmel as captain... So most likely he will be getting 15 extra points... Lucky guy...

Luckily he doesn't have any other Liverpool or Swansea players and I have Davies, Michu, Suarez (c) and Sturridge...

On my wildcard I went Bale->Gerrard at exactly 11.30am.

    Since then

    Bale 2,8,11,15
    Gerrard 9, 1, 10

    I need a 16 pointer from Gerrard(c)

Fox in the box, would be great in a posession and territory dominant team. All round play isn't that great, tidy enough though.

I don't know depends who is doing the rating.

The people saying LOLZ @ 5under1and in the summer were underating him.

Those calling him world-class after a few instinctual finishes were overating him.

Somewhere in the middle - decent premier league striker nothing much more.

    @ Triggerlips

I spilt a glass of milk on my keyboard a few months back (Doosy told me to dunk it in a bucket of water to fix it). Anyway my (w) key got frazzled (not the bacon crisps) in the process. Annoying as this is I just copy and paste my w's as I go. I suggest you get yourself to the nearest s and put and end to this madness 😉

I can't decide whether I want RVP or Fellaini to go bonkers and punish the sellers or have one of them not play so I can get Maloney's points off my bench and have the other one REALLY go bonkers.

arsenal fan...we've picked up serious form since theo became a regular. pretty annoyed at the start of the season where walcott was shunned by wenger and we subsequently were absolutely rubbish and dropped a lot of points(norwich away being my favourite)..that contract negotiation should have been sorted last summer.

The saying 'it's darkest before dawn' comes to mind in regards to Nastasic.

Kompany's return will bring stability and CS's and now Nast is back fresh he is the preferred partner at.

If you have him- keep him. If not get him in and leave him there until GW 38.
