Our weekly look at the goings-on in the Sky Sports game is rolled out again this afternoon. As always, we cast an eye over the Scout League’s main protagonists, where the leader made significant ground in his quest for the overall crown last weekend. We also analyse the recent trends in the transfer market and check in with Fenners and Merse ahead of tonight’s fixture with the Fantasy Football Club.

The Scout League

With his top spot threatened last week,Chris Pearce turned in a storming performance to sprint away from the chasing pack. Chris’ side “UtakaDefoeKingPearce” was just 13 points clear at the summit prior to the weekend’s fixtures but is now 45 points ahead of Paul McAnulty in the race for the Scout League title. Paul’s “Housewives Favourite” is a further 31 points ahead of Chris Tuck’s third-placed “Vuvuzela Symphony”, while Simon Davis’ “Nags Head Rovers” and Pascal Evans’ pair of Covport teams are tucked in just behind.

Chris Pearce’s Gameweek not only helped establish a solid lead over the rest of the Scout League, it boosted his chances of finishing first in the overall standings. Although Chris remains third overall, he is now just 37 points behind Simon Ward at the summit in the race for the Sky Sports crown and £25,000 top prize – having approached last weekend some 85 points behind Ward, he’s clearly picking up momentum at the right time.

The Scout League now have seven managers in the overall top 20 rankings – as a result, we remain the top Private League on show, extending our lead from 10 to 15 points over our nearest rival.

A reminder that if you’re playing the Sky Sports game and have yet to join our league, you can still sign up to the FFScout League with this Pin: 8004519. We have a home cinema system, worth £600, available to the winner.

Market Trends

Five goals in his last four appearances has made Dimitar Berbatov the most sought-after player in the Sky Sports game this week. With a double Gameweek just around the corner, the 7.5 priced Fulham forward has been party to 5.12% of all transfers in ahead of Sunday’s trip to Newcastle – over the last five weeks, the Bulgarian has racked up 31 points, the third highest tally of any player.

Gareth Bale was second most popular prior to last night’s turn of events at White Hart Lane. The Welshman had been subject to 4.94% of all transfers made but, having been stretchered off against FC Basel with an ankle injury, is almost certainly out of this weekend’s home clash with Everton and has a blank Gameweek 33 to follow.

With a home game against West Ham on Sunday afternoon, Liverpool duo Luis Suarez and Steven Gerrard are amongst the top five transfer targets this week. Suarez has racked up more points (45) than any player in the last five Gameweeks and, while Gerrard is fifth for this respective statistic over the featured period, his 28 points is greater than any midfielder.

Robin Van Persie, on the other hand, has been the third most unpopular player ahead of the Manchester derby. Only the suspended Marouane Fellaini and injured Theo Walcott have been sold on by more managers, with the Dutchman part of 5.62% of all transfers out. While Van Persie’s recent goal drought is clearly an issue, his owners still had plenty faith as United rolled up to Sunderland last Saturday lunchtime – over 23% handed him the armband, with Suarez second most popular captaincy pick (9%) and Chelsea’s Eden Hazard (6%) further back in third.

The Fantasy Football Club – Tonight 10pm

Chris Coleman is the guest on tonight’s edition of the Fantasy Football Club. The Wales boss joins Fenners and Merse from 10pm on Sky Sports One, with a certain Tottenham winger’s ankle injury sure to be discussed.

The BBC tweet about Bale says nothing apart from the fact he is not out for the season. Of course they hope he will be back for 21 April, doesn't mean he will be or even that they expect him to be.

I always nab a defender as place holder, a Gorkks, Harte and the like will always be on my team. Maybe my backup keeper as well.

Holt last year and this year Lambert made my 3rd striker spot. Not sure who that could be next year.

    Zaba, Jose Enrique, Rafael
    Mata, Bale, Santi, Michu
    Lambert, Suarez, Benteke

Jussi, Puncheon, Harte, Davies. 1 FT and 0.5 in the bank.

Really? I'd happily play Davies this week; Puncheon a little less so, but he's not a terrible option. Maybe Bale to Silva/Hazard/Gerrard.

Duff. Nolan has more goals potential I suppose - but he's been a bit fat and injured lately. Duff's double is better, and his fixture this week is better - and he's playing 2 of his old clubs in the next 3. Got to be Duff - can't get enuff of that wonderful Duff.

I think he had that one great game against Chelsea but since then has been average

His assist in the last game only came because Cabaye scored the free kick he was fouled from

Also Cabaye has set pieces, corners, pens to add to his appeal, no?

Hey Guys, some help is needed with trasnfers

Bale+Harte to Gerrard and Mertesacker ? (or is it better to get coutihno?) (-4)

    next week:
Cameron + Sessegnon to Fellaini and Baines (-4)

This will give me 8 DGW players.

Any suggestions? mayvbe hazard(rotation risk) instead of Gerrard ?

I am 20 pts behind 1st place in my league and he is losing at least 4pts on transfers this week

    Any help is appreciated

I agree, from a deuchebag point of view since my minileague leader in a draft game has him as his best horse. Then again, i wouldnt want Everton to sneak the CL spot ahead of Spurs and tbh Bale is a cracking player and its a shame for the PL if he doesnt play.
