Earlier this afternoon, Manuel Pellegrini was finally confirmed as the new man in charge at Manchester City. The Chilean arrives on a three-year contract and will be tasked with bringing silverware back to the Etihad after last term’s disappointing title defence and FA Cup final defeat, which ultimately led to the dismissal of Roberto Mancini.

Having given a comprehensive interview to the club’s official website, the 59-year-old – who will take up the position from June 24 – went on to say:

“I am delighted to accept this hugely exciting opportunity. The Club has a clear vision for success both on and off the pitch and I am committed to making a significant contribution. Everything is in place for Manchester City to continue to be successful and I am excited to be able to work with such a talented squad, the Executive team and the Board to deliver for fans who are renowned for their steadfast support.”

The History

A former centre-half by trade, Pellegrini spent his entire playing at Universidad Chile from 1973-1986 before being installed in the managerial hotseat the year after his retirement. He managed a number of clubs in his homeland and also had spells in Ecuador and Argentina – most notably at the helm of River Plate – before making his way over to Spain in July 2004, where he was handed the reins at Villarreal.

In his first term in charge of the “Yellow Submarineâ€, Pellegrini guided the club to a third place La Liga finish in addition to the UEFA Cup quarter-finals. Over the course of the Chilean’s five years in charge, Villarreal also made it to the last four of the Champions League and broke up the Barcelona-Real Madrid La Liga pecking order, by finishing second in the Spanish top division back in 2007-08.

Pellegrini then moved to the Bernabeu prior to the 2009-10 campaign, with Real spending over £200m in the summer transfer window on the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Xabi Alonso in an attempt to end Barcelona’s domestic dominance. Despite racking up a then-club record 96 points, Pellegrini could only muster second place and made way for Jose Mourinho after just one year at the helm.

He was then installed as Malaga manager in November 2010 and, in his first full season in charge, guided the club to fourth spot in La Liga – their best ever domestic finish. Despite losing the likes of Santi Cazorla to Arsenal last summer, Pellegrini steered his side to the Champions League quarter-finals and sixth in the table before deciding to part company with the club late last month.

The Previous Regime

Taking over the reins from Mark Hughes in December 2009, Roberto Mancini’s somewhat cautious style of play saw City become the resilient backline in the Premier League. In his three full seasons in charge at the Etihad, City accrued 18, 17 and 18 clean sheets, though the Italian’s penchant for full-back rotation, particularly in their 2011-12 title-winning campaign, diminished our Fantasy options.

While City were consistent at the back, their stuttering attack undoubtedly played a major part in Mancini’s downfall. Having clinched the crown from United thanks to goal difference and a total of 93 goals scored, they found the net just 66 times last time out as opponents began to stifle their somewhat one-paced approach. With the league already lost with a handful of matches to spare, City’s FA Cup Final defeat at the hands of Wigan saw Mancini dismissed before the season was out though according to reports, he was already on borrowed time after allegedly losing the dressing room some time before his departure.

The Season Ahead

With Fernandinho and Jesus Navas on board, the Pellegrini revolution is already in full swing as City look to draw a line under last term’s disappointment. A more open, expansive style of play could be on the cards and may bring City’s main Fantasy assets back onto the radar after a season which saw Joe Hart finish their second highest performer in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game.

Tactically, Pellegrini mainly opted for a 4-2-3-1 at Malaga, fielding a lone striker system in all but one of his side’s 38 La Liga matches, though he also has a penchant for a 4-2-2-2 formation, which brings plenty of attacking license to his sides’ approach. As the-then Villarreal manager explains in this clip on tactics, he prefers a two-man frontline, though adapts his system in accordance with opponent.

Certainly, such an approach would require the full-backs to push on, offering width from deep – if the likes of Gael Clichy, Pablo Zabaleta or Micah Richards can nail down a regular role, they could be an intriguing option from an attacking perspective, should City’s defensive resolve slightly diminish with such an approach. The central midfield industry and mobility afforded by Fernandinho and Yaya Toure would be essential for this system to flourish, while the duo behind the front pair would require plenty movement, drifting out to the wings to create space – Navas’ arrival makes sense from this perspective.

While his final term at Malaga was restricted by a spate of player sales that forced a more defensive outlook, Pellegrini will have no such issues at the Etihad and looks set to be given carte blanche to restructure the side to one of his own making. With plenty of options available, then, it remains to be seen just what shape the new man has in mind – while Navas would slot in on the right in a 4-2-3-1, for example, David Silva, Samir Nasri, Sergio Aguero, Carlos Tevez and Yaya Toure all offer alternatives behind a lone frontman, though the latter seems best-suited to a more withdrawn role under the new manager, bombing forward to join attacks from deep. City have also been linked with a move for Spain U21 international Isco, who played under the Chilean at Malaga and finished last term as the club’s top scorer, with nine goals harvested from his role in “the holeâ€.

In terms of transfers in and out, last season’s top scorer Edin Dzeko’s lack of mobility has seen the Bosnian linked with a move away, while similarly, Gareth Barry’s consistency of starts looks doubtful as Pellegrini looks for a more dynamic approach. Joleon Lescott, Aleksandr Kolarov, Maicon and Scott Sinclair could all be set for the chop as the new man in charge looks to freshen up his options. With more arrivals expected – Napoli’s Edinson Cavani is a target – City’s summer shopping spree and pre-season formation will be key to how we assess their Fantasy prospects. After a season in which City scored more than twice on just eight occasions – and once in the last 18 Gameweeks – there’s no doubt that Pellegrini’s arrival looks a breath of fresh air for Fantasy managers after Mancini’s underwhelming final year at the helm.

An analysis of Pellegrini's influence on teams attack and rotation

    Rotation issue:

At Malaga last year 7 players started 25 plus games (Monreal would likely have also if he had not moved to arsenal also and 17 players started 10 or more games and 4 players came on as subs in 10 or more games.

Malaga 2011/2012 8 players started 24 plus games with another three starting 19 games. 14 players started 10 or more games. Again 4 players came on as subs in 10 or more games.

Real Madrid 2009/2010 7 players started 24 plus (28 lowest amount of starts in this group) games with another four starting 19+ games. 16 players started 10 or more games. This time 6 players came on as subs in 10 or more games.

To me it looks like Pellegrini likes a tight core of starters which he rests as required depending on the schedule (same as any top team I guess) as he used about the same amount of players to start 24 plus games in both Malaga (where he would have had a smaller squad) and Real Madrid.
It is interesting that only one outfield player played all 38 matches in the three seasons I have looked at and that was Cazorla in 2011/2012. The most appearances by the outfield players seems to be in the 29-33 region which indicates a rest every 4 games or so.

In short it looks like we might be looking at rotation central at city next season.

An interesting aside is that he gave Zabaleta his debut in senior football in South America and with the Language barrier (Pellegrini is competent in English by all accounts but not completely fluent) I would hazard a guess that Zaba could be quite important for Pellegrini to get his point across when changing tactics mid game etc so I would think he could be the least rotated of the backline.

    Pellegrini Attacking influence:

    11/12 Malaga with PellegriniGS 53 (8th) H 33 A 20 (10th)

As Paul mentions above Real Spent 200m with Ronaldo, Benzema and Alonso coming in so hard to know what effect Pellegrinihad.

I am not sure what the stats tell us other than Pellegrini got goals out of his Villarreal team in his first season before regressing to more or less where they were before he arrived (possibly due to European commitments). They did increase their scoring rate again after a few years (probably due to brining in better players with the Euro money but I have not looked into this). They consistently scored a higher percentage of away goals (compared to home goals scored) than other teams indicating that City strikers should be a better bet away from home as well as at home than most teams strikers.

I don’t think we learn anything from the season at Real in relation to attacking returns due to the transfer in of better players.

With Malaga he never actually increased their attacking output but dramatically increased their defensive resolve.

In summation I am not sure we are going to see the dramatic uptick in City attacking returns that some think we will (I think we will see a fair increase to something similar to the season before last but that is due to their abnormally low conversion rate last season and the addition of new players than anything Pellegriniwill do). To me it looks like Pellegrini’s most important contribution will be that they will actually be more solid and organised defensively creating a foundation for the attackers to do their thing.

Not particularly MJ, if you knew me a few years ago when things were quieter on here I used to do this kind of analysis all the time as it would stay up long enough to generate debate and I could get some feedback to see if I was on the right track or not. When things got so busy I stopped posting it here and just did the analysis for myself and kept it to myself but with this new system I can finally get some feedback again.

Yeah I know, it's heavy enough alright but at least it gives us a chance to make some assumptions heading into the new season about a new manager and what effect he may have on one of the top teams in the league. Took a while to pull together so worth letting others have the benefit of it.

I am sure those have a social glass of wine can skip over it without too much bother 😉

Yh the quality of posts has dramatically increased due to the new comment system alright.

Ifwas not really looking for credit with this post or the other, (if I was I would have waited for a busier time like the U21 games to post it) just to share the results of my snooping.

I won't be posting anything as detailed again until nearer to ko I would think as the only reason I have this bit of research done is that I knew so little about Pellegrini and once I went digging I had to write it down or I would have forgotten it by ko.

Anyway back to reading the days comments for me (sorted by rating 🙂 )

It actually looks like he has more emphasis on defense than attack which is totally the opposite to what people were saying originally. I guess being an engineer he understands the need for good foundations and he seems to see the defense as the foundation for all of his teams.

What changes might be see next season in the PL? I noticed that clean sheets were somewhat difficult to get aside from Man United's awesome streak. But it seemed going by fixtures wasn't always the wisest move in some cases with the away under dog sneaking in a 0-1 now and then. I personally can see a few teams upping their game at the back this year such as:

Fulham: Were very unpredictable last season with some fortunate CS against the likes of Chelsea and Tottenham. 4 CS at Home and 4 Away with the Cottagers shutting Norwich out in both fixtures.
The addition of Mark Stekelenburg and Fernando Amorebieta should bolster the defence yet I see the Spanish centre back taking a bit longer to adjust to the PL.

Sunderland: We all know Di Canio's introduction was to introduce attacking strength to Sunderlan's squad, yet now it seems his efforts must shift to the back. Known for his attacking style, the former Swindon manager must now prepare for a new season and make sure his team maintain a strong defence. Sunderland saw 11 CS last season, 2 of them coming from Di Canio's 7 games in charge. With the introduction of Cabral, Diakite and Roberge on a free transfer, it is clear that Di Canio seeks to strengthen the backline should they lose the highly sought after Simon Mignolet.

Man City: As Dino said already in his analysis (http://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/2013/06/14/moving-target-manuel-pellegrini/?hc_page=4#hc_comment_4973619) , City under Pellegrini will look to improve their defences and get back winning ways. The side only conceded 34 goals, the lowest amount out of the Top 5, showing how strong their defence was before Pellegrini's arrival.Personally I think they will be the best defenced team next season. Whether they will challenge for the title is another question....

Liverpool - Continued evolution as BR's principles are being taken on board and he is bringing bringing in his own players. I reckon more goals and tighter defense (really interested in the pricing of their defenders next year.

Toon - We have seen with a lot of teams that when they have the Europa league their EPL form suffers due to fatigue which puts a strain on smaller squads due to injuries, loss of form and associated poor morale/team spirit. Without this distraction I expect a big upturn at both end of the pitch next season.

Southampton - The improvement under Pochetino was starting to take shape last season and with a few of his additions I think they could be the surprise package of next season.

Villa - Again I think their improvement in form under lambert as the season went on was very much in evidence and I expect with the new additions that this will only be more marked next season. I think I read somewhere that they were not beaten by anybody outside the top 5 post xmas last season. This would likely equate to a top half of the table finish if it continued for a full season. I won't be going near their defenders tho 😛

Toffees, Utd, wba, swansea will have poorer seasons

      Reasons:

Toffees - No Moyes and trying to implement a new playing style

Utd - SAF hanging around in the background will undermine Moyes' authority with the players as well as his standing with the fans (the first poor run of form and the fans will be calling for saf to take over again). This is not the only reason however as they were only 7th for shots last season and 4th for shots on target which means they overachieved in winning the league and scoring so many goals so regression analysis would say they won't score as much next season unless they increase their outputs.

WBA - I don't think Clarke is a manager and his lack of recruitment skills will lead to the squad not being fresh next season. I could see them getting dragged into a relegation dogfight next season tbh

Swansea - Europa league commitments will kill their small squad imo. They were stretched at times last season and they had no Europe. Also despite their fantastic season last year they only finished 7pts above the relegation zone. Being in the europa league is going to erode this margin significantly imo.

I'm betting on Saints. Their back 5 will all be internationals now. Boruc (Poland) in goal, Clyne and Shaw (England U21) on the right and left and Forren (Norway) and Lovren (Croatia) in the centre.

We haven't seen Forren yet as he was signed in January and wasn't match fit and Lovrens has just been signed. Lovrens is only rung, has some detractors but he's an international and plays the sort of footy Saints need him for ie supporting a pressing game.

I'm opting for Clyne I think given the goal scoring opportunities he tends to find himself in especially in the last few games of last seasons. I saw him nearly score twice in 3 games.

      Hope this helps.

        Great post lanley.

The new guys in defence I think the way pochetino wants them to play being the best defender tactically is not all that important as thet want to play a high line winning the ball back in the opposition half. When they win it back the idea is to keep possession so he needs his cb's to be mobile (to try and combat counter attacks) and be good on the ball.

I think they will be a bit like Swansea and barca from a defensive point of view which if they have the right quality of player will be fine. I am looking at clyne too and wuth their poor defensive record last year I am hoping he will be moderately priced.

  5. Captain decisions: form or fixture?
    Camzy

What's more important, Form or Fixture when picking a captain?

I had some time to do some statistical analysis of my own. It's simplified, it isn't perfect, but I think it will tell us something.

I took 3 primary captain candidates for the season: RVP, Suarez and Bale. I then took the highest score of the 3 for each GW and analyzed it as either a result of form or fixture. Quite a few of them are attributed to both, and I took that down as well. Here are the results:

Form - 19 total (4 independent of fixture)
Fixture - 27 total (13 independent of form)
Form and Fixture - 14 total
    Neither - 0 total

What this says to me quite emphatically, is that fixture > form. Only 4 top scores were achieved by form alone. So picking Bale against City even with form isn't a favorable choice if Suarez has SUN.

Another thing I dug up is that of the 4 hat-tricks scored, 3 out of the 4 occurred with favorable form and fixture. All this indicates that if possible, pick someone with form and fixtures every week (obviously!). If this isn't possible, let fixture be your guide over form.

Now this study isn't perfect. I'm using my own judgment on what is considered a favorable fixture. I also don't consider the scores that weren't the highest for the week so that means maybe RVP got 15 against wig and I put it down as an easy fixture, but Suarez got 2 against QPR that same week and might have had better form too.

Last little note, over the 38 gameweeks if you chose to captain the highest scoring player of the three, you'd end up with more than 8 points in 31 weeks out of 38. Possible new captain strategy?

I usually pick attacking and midfield players who have form over fixture to give myself the best chance of getting the most points each GW.

For my captain, I would just normally pick the best player who is showing some sort of good form, or good play. What happens after the captain pick is then down to good fortune whether your captain pick scores well.

However, If two or three of your captain options, such as RvP, Bale or Suarez as mentioned above, are all showing good form....then I would go with the one who has the 'best fixture' out of these 🙂

        That's where I think you're wrong.

My information says that form (at least 2 games of attacking returns in last 3) is not as important as fixture, at least in terms of picking a captain.

It doesn't matter if they're in good form, away at Manchester City is unlikely to get you points.

The info says that you're better off picking RVP at home to QPR even if he hasn't scored in 5 games over Bale playing away at Manchester City on the back of a 3 game scoring streak.

But what about form over the season? That could be a better indication of consistency and explosiveness, whereas form over 2 or 3 matches might have a bigger luck factor. Would you still recommend fixtures over form for the season, as well as over form over the last few matches?

I don't there is a wrong, or a right. It's just how I did it, and stuck to this plan as I knew the points would eventually come because of the quality form player will usually always produce regardless of fixure.

For example, RvP, Rooney, Suarez, Bale, Mata etc have all scored good points away to big teams last season and in previous seasons. And vice-versa, I've lost count how many blanks the main players have had against so called 'easy fixtures'....Man Utd home to Reading, Liverpool home to QPR, City home to WBA etc, are just to name a few of many.

Are we talking about form over the last few matches or over the whole season?

If a player regularly scores better at home than away, then does that count as form (he has good home form) or fixture (it's an easier fixture because he's at home?

RVP, Suarez and RVP are all top quality players who usually have good form for the season, so it is probably necessary to consider their fixtures in order to choose between them.

Captaincy candidates (excluding double game weeks) last season also included players such as Walcott, Mata, Michu, Tevez, Cazorla and Hazard. Would it have been advantageous to have captained one of these when they were in good form and had an easier fixture than the 3 superstars?

Does down voting actually make any difference? Before HC went live I was under the impression that it would make these comments "disappear" but it doesn't seem to be the case. Is it just to make people feel they have some control, like the "close door" button in a lift (elevator) that does nothing.

😆 about the 'close door' button

It's a good indicator for us mods. If we see people down-voting something that they don't like, we can step in and see if there's an issue. Obviously if it breaks the rules then we'll take action, but we certainly won't be removing large amounts of comments unless we feel it's necessary.

This might sound like a cop out but I think it depends on the player. Some players like Rooney and lamps like to play all the time. While others appreciate the odd rest I reckon. It's up to managers to decide how to deal with this. Some do it badly

I firmly believe that one of the reasons why England never win the World Cup is largely down to the amount of games the players play. It's not the sole reason but it is a factor.

A few years back - 2007 Rugby World Cup to be precise- rotation became a dirty word with the ABs. However, their comes a time when every player needs some rest particualrly with the intensity of the game. Richie McCaw - ABs capn-has just had 6 months off from rugby. He needed the rest and will come back a fitter player.

There's a reason why Richard Branson's staff only work 4 days a week and that is to keep his staff creative, rested to do a better job.

Mine was my refusal to get RVP for Man Utd's double gameweek and stick with Rooney - even though all the evidence pointed to an upturn in RVPs fortunes and Rooney being on the slide.

Still think this was a great strategy. He could have easily been Lukaku in which case you'd have won by a country mile.

Way better than playing safe and gaining no ground on the leaders.

      Last season was Sissoko.

Brought him in after two decent GW's then watched as he picked up an injury and a series of 1's & 2's. Was the end of the season and never managed to ship him (always other priorities).

That and not bringing in Walcott for his hat-trick when I knew all week he was a must. Was spewing 😛

Sticking with Cazorla in FPL basing it on his points in The Metro. Maybe not my worst choice, but the one I've learnt most from.

I've vowed not to confuse my games this coming season. All this thanks to Jonty, Mark and Granville for their excellent analysis of my FPL season last year.

In my first season Stoke had a DGW so foolishly I captained Sorensen. Stoke conceded a couple of goals in the first game but had a home game to Fulham in the second game - Sorensen got injured in the warm up for that game and didn't play. I have never captained a defender since.

Never once having Danny Murphy in my squad.

I always liked him, I flirted with him, would lie awake at night thinking how good it would be. But life got in the way - chasing big hitters, reorganising my defence, shipping out that injured goalie. I always thought that one day it would happen, that it was meant to be, that there would still be time for it, for us.

Carpe diem people, it's later than you think.

      Started with Bale and Mata.

They didn't score in the first three games. Jumped on Hazard and Cazorla and watched as Bale and Mata started scoring.

That was probably the most costly mistake. The start is so very important...

My worst mistake last season was an unnecessary and disastrous Wildcard in GW7 (played because of poor scores in GWs 4 and 6) in which I dropped Hazard & Michu (who were both still amongst the top 4 midfielders despite having had 3 successive low scores) as well as Van Persie & Tevez (thinking that the leading defenders would continue to outscore the leading forwards, but of course they didn't). This ruined my squad so badly that I eventually had to take a 40 point hit in GW16 in order to kick-start a partial recovery. (I also hoped that this might improve my chances of progressing through a few rounds of the Fantasy Cup, but I still lost in the 1st round).

    Best Goalkeeper approach

    A - Expensive keeper + a £4m

This would cost around £11m. It would mean always playing the expensive keeper. Last year Hart kept 18 CS's & Cech 14. Save points are likely to be limited.

    B - Two mid-priced keepers

This would cost around £10m. It would mean rotating them most weeks, surely you will bench the high scorer some weeks, but Jaaskelainen & Mignolet (9.5m starting price total) kept 22 CS's between them last year. They also made over an additional 100 saves combined, compared to Hart & Cech.

Conclusion - option B has potentially more ponts & costs less.

With reference to your last post RONH, Mignolet could be a not too expensive option, may be a reasonable way in to the Liverpool defence?

On a £100m budget, £10m is too expensive for the position that provides the fewest points.

    I follow Ligue 1 so I know a bit about Lovren :

He arrived at Lyon in January 2010 for about 8 millions euros. It was a big investment for Lyon at the time and he was supposed to be their new top defender. Unfortunately he never performed like he should have done and turned out to be a total disappointment. This season has been very hard for him. He has been the cause of many conceded goals and he did not even play the last eight games of the season.

It is a bit of a surprise that Lyon have managed to make a small profit on a player they did not want to keep.

I think a move to the Premier League is good for him. He needed a change of environment. However I do not think he will go anywhere near my FPL team next year.

Lyon's transfer policy is sell as soon as someone offers more than a player is worth. They must have been delighted with Southampton 's interest. It's such a simple and effective transfer strategy .

I think he's quite a solid center back and that he will fit in at Southampton. Yes he did have a couple of mistakes - but so did Ashley Williams, and he is receiving a lot of praise and even some Team of the Season nominations.
Lovren is fairly mobile and gets the odd goal, he might be a nice pick if he has the right price and starts regularly.
I'm expecting 5.5 though, maybe a bit to pricey.

Been out all day so missed an entire Coutinho article! Buts its ok the first page of top rated comments was a great read. 😀 (thx ComH, Isacki and Crusher for the U21 stuff)

Anyone else thinking that we need to start accounting for tactical match ups when defining fixture difficulty? For instance, watching that video on Pellegrini's tactics made me wonder if City might be suceptible to counter winger attacks.

I've often thought that, but it's very difficult to call.

Someone suggested earlier that we have a preseason string of articles about each manager. Perhaps extend that to highlighting expected strengths and weaknesses of each team. We all know that Norwich are more prone to mistakes than United but there is more to it than that.

The FPL rules have changed a bit over the years. Which rules do you think are better now, and which should have stayed as they were? I've put the new rules first in each point:

    1. Mids getting 1 point for a CS rather than 2 points.
    2. -2 penalty for OGs rather than no penalty.
    3. -3 for a sending off rather then -2.
    4. Nominated vice-captain rather than no vice captain / form or value vice captain.
    5. Extra January wildcard rather than just the one wildcard.
    6. Baps decided by stats rather than the 'man in the stand'.
    7. Assists based on last touch rather than whether there was a 'significant change in the direction of the ball'

    My votes:

    1. Better now
    2. Better before
    3. Better before

      2. Better now - there should be a penalty for it, to be fair!
      3. Again, probably better now, you need to be punished for things like that
      4. I definitely prefer it now, although it was more challenging without a backup.
      5. Better before. I like the challenge of just having one.

      1. Better now, defence and keeper should get relatively much more credit than mids.
      2. Better before, most own goals are harsh on the player 'awarded' them.
      3. Better now, sending offs deserve to be punished severely fantasy-wise, player really letting his team down in doing so.
      4. Much better now.
      5. Better before, teams become too similar after January.
      6. Better now if with correct stats (OPTA > PA)
      7. Debatable. Better now in that there's no grey area but some 'assists' are ridiculous with a poor touch that fortuitously went to a team-mate who scored.

Nice to see FFS got a new lick of paint and engine, seems to be progressing along nicely as the forefront site for premier league fantasy football, hopefully the new comment system works as one natural (positive) progression, was that an increase in users did have a knock on affect on too much traffic and imo clutter, so hats off to the team for trying to address that and putting the increased revenue garnered back into the site to develop it further.

I must admit I tend to drift towards Fiso for posting, FFS comments were just too busy the last few years and as a consequence id only really post occasionally at deadzone times in the mornings and evenings. Probably for the best...the more I read and think, the worse my decisions become..!

Hence why i'm going to turn the brain off next season, and just pick a bunch of wonderkids from the latest football manager game to slot into my fpl team..;)

No real point to this post (but hey it is deadzone time till July), just some random musings about how i'm liking the direction FFS is taking, the real test will be mid August though I suppose.

I would have presumed while the site would get a surge when FPL launches, it would be still the "enthusiastic" who set up teams and discuss it mid july, though I know we/they make allot of noise 🙂

I'm sure yous have a handle on site views from previous years though, as I seem to recall Mark mentioning he puts all hands to the pumps for the week leading up to the kick off of season.Hopefully things hold up, but new features inevitably...! 🙂

“Consensus RMT” for the UEFA U21 Semis.

Following my previous post before the start of the tournament, I am now posting the Consensus RMT for the semi-finals. See http://alturl.com/yo2pe for a reminder.

Since the group stage matches finished on 12 June until 2:15pm today, there have been 17 RMTs posted on here. I have surveyed the results and list here the Consensus RMT for the U21 semis-finals.

    G: DeGea Nyland
D: Moreno Biraghi Bartra Montoya Donati
M: Isco Thiago Maher Florenzi Eikrem
    F: Morata Immobile John

I’m interested in feedback because I may do this periodically in the run up to the PL season – a much bigger task because of the volume of RMTs and the much greater pool of players.

    Detailed breakdown by position:

    GKs
    De Gea 16
    Nyland 10
    Bardi 4
    Levi 1

    DEFs
    Moreno 15
    Biraghi 12
    Bartra 10
    Montoya 10
    Donati 8
    Van Rhijn 6
    Strandberg 5
    Bianchetti 4
    Hedenstad 3
    Martins Indi 2
    Caldirola 2
    Chalobah 2
    Dasa 2
    Linnes 1

    MIDs
    Isco 16
    Thiago 15
    Maher 14
    Florenzi 13
    Eikrem 9
    Van Ginkel 4
    Fer 4
    Hendriksen 3
    Verratti 2
    Martinez 2
    Bertolacci 1
    Berisha 1
    Redmond 1
    Singh 1
    Koke 1
    Illaramendi 1
    Muniain 1

    FWDs
    Morata 12
    Immobile 9
    John 8
    De Jong 7
    Wijnaldum 4
    Rodrigo 4
    Insigne 3
    Tello 3
    Pedersen 3
    Gabbiadini 2

Hi guys ! I'm french and Know quite well the french ligue. Lovren is really poor signing according to me. He is oftenly injured or suspended, not really great player (he is now n3 or 4 in cb hierarchy) here the press also qualified te deal of very good for Lyon to get so much for him.

Maybe I'll ne wrong and he will improove but on paper it look like a bad transfer.

Anyone up for some Confed Cup Fantasy Football?

I've put together a Google Spreadsheet, complete with full teams, positions, goals, caps, and most importantly Prices (based them off the pricing in the U21 game).

Maybe you can list a team of XI here in the comments and I can go in and make a separate sheet to list everyone's team? I'm open to suggestions as to how to run it...
