Grab the popcorn, it’s Saturday night at the movies. We conclude our Rate My Team preview set with an epic 14-minute, stat filled video outlining just how “Professor” Chris Atkinson’s statistical model works.

Admittedly, this is one for the hardcore number freaks but, even so, we hope this offers some insight into the workings behind the Projections and the Rate My Team tool and the effort we put in to maintain it.

If you missed parts one and two of this series, you can catch them here and here.

Fantasy Football Scout Memberships are now available for the pre-season price of £12.50.

What is Rate My Team?
Rate My team is a statistical model built specifically to assess every player in the Premier League and return their expected values for Fantasy Premier League (FPL) points in a given Gameweek. The system is a complex and thorough one which, of course, plots the probabilities of a player’s time on the pitch, their expected number of goals, assists, bonus points, yellow and red cards, clean sheets, own goals, goals conceded and saves. The strength of the opponent they are facing in a given Gameweek is also crucial; so every team has an attacking and defensive rating, every player a probability of playing a given match with injuries, suspensions and international absence factored in.

How Can It Help Me?
If you’re a member you can use the Rate My Team tool in a number of ways. Firstly, you can use it as a projections tool to predict what specific players will score, on average, over the next X number of Gameweeks. As you would have seen in our first movie, you have a players table that can be filtered by position or FPL cost and which can be extended to show any number of Gameweeks. You can also sort on “Value” to find those players projected to offer the best points per million return.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

when a manager (e.g martinez) takes 3 players from old club to new, can we assume they're starters?

    specifically robles, alcaraz and kone?

I presume he's brought them along to help transfer ideas to other players. Particularly good when rehearsing set pieces.

Wouldn't be hugely surprised if Robles plays. As others have said, Kone seems most likely though.

If Martinez plays his three at the back formation that he used at Wigan then Alcaraz would certainly be ahead of Heitinga. He usually played a single striker up top with two wide players beside so it would be a battle between Jelavic and Kone for that spot.

I don't know much about Stones other than he is very young and lacks top flight experience. Three at the back formation is not the easiest formation to accustom to so I'd make a guess that the experience of Alcaraz would win.

Well lads, I was at the Palace match tonight in Waterford and thought I'd share a few things I noticed.

Thomas did well and looked very dangerous.
Dobbie did well too and got on the score sheet.
Jonny Williams is a serious player. If he gets games this season could be a good pick. Came off for Garvan at HT so he might interfere with his game time.

Philips, the legend himself, played well when he came on at HT also. He should have scored but was unlucky (got a picture with him too 🙂 ).

I also noticed Palace played a very direct style with long balls up to the striker and down the channels for Gayle/Philips to run onto. Holloway seemed very insistent on them kicking it long and was almost getting frustrated with them when there was a chance to do so and they didn't.
I presume if they are playing this way in pre-season friendlies they are going to play like that in the league.

This could mean that there might be a few assists on the way for their defenders or, more likely, the quality centre halves in the Premier League will just head them away all day as Gayle won't be able to compete with them in the air.

I also noticed Parr wasn't involved. He seems to be quite popular on this site. Not sure if he's injured or not?

Ye, he played quite far forward. Could have some assist potential from crosses although from what I could see, their plan was to play it forward from Delaney and Gabbidon. They didn't seem to play it out wide too often but when they did they were dangerous with Thomas and Ward overlapping down the right.

Parr is recovering from injury. Moxey has left back at the mo and could start the season there at this stage. A palace fan told me that Ward has the right back position and may be a more nailed on fpl pick.

I hate it when you conveniently post partial snippets of the article supporting only your side of the story as it completely changes the entire context of what the article is about -:

The Bale saga has dominated the summer headlines, and although the Spurs boss insists no move is imminent, he was again forced to answer questions about the Welshman's future after their 5-2 friendly defeat by Monaco.

Bale was not involved in that match because of injury but Real are keen to wrap up a possible world record deal for the 24-year-old before the start of the season and Ancelotti revealed talks were underway earlier in the week.

When asked if he felt Ancelotti was in the wrong, Villas-Boas said: "I think so, in my opinion.

"Carlo is a person I appreciate a lot and we have great respect for each other, but bearing in mind this situation they have decided to make it public.

"Normally in situations like this it is scrutinised by the Football Association with lots of care and attention. We have seen lots of people speak about a player that is not theirs and we are due some respect.

"These rumours of an imminent transfer are not true. The only thing we have communicated with Real Madrid is that he is our player and he is not for sale.

"Gareth is a guy I really like. We are talking with Real Madrid because there is respect between the two clubs following the transfer last season of Luka Modric.

"We are building a great team for next season. We envisage the future with Gareth. But we know that in football anything is possible."

    http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11675/8853829/andre-villas-boas-says-carlo-ancelotti-was-wrong-to-go-public-over-gareth-bale-offer

I don't know what the final outcome will be, but Spurs are clearly talking to Real Madrid regards to Bale.

    Goodnight!

Tbh I am not having any of them. The only 3 I would be interested in are Rvp kagawa and zaha.
1 cost 14 million and I don't think he will score enough in those 5 weeks to warrant it (granted he will score)
The other could possibly not play more than 90 minutes during that time.
Which leaves me with kagawa but I think coutinho hazard wally cazorla mirralas silva and Nolan will score more.

So I feel good about having no cover.

Liverpool and Brendan sounding desperate yet again with those comments after thier match. Just wait, Liverpool will have to accept 40-45mill because Suarez will force a move at the end of the transfer window and Liverpool will buy another Andy Carroll for 35mill on the last day because there are no strikers left. Liverpool are too small a club for the likes of Suarez
