Tottenham’s new recruits and the start of the Champions League group stages were among the hottest topics being discussed by the community over the international break. We also find out how FFS UEFA’s transfer window simulation game concluded and welcome aboard a new moderator to the Fantasy Football Scout team.

Hottest Topics

Tottenham have so many new arrivals following the close of the transfer window that it is hard to keep up with their likely starting XI. Luckily our resident video expert Brutus619 had his finger on the pause button to analyse attacking midfielder Erik Lamela’s displays and assess whether he is the real deal as a Fantasy prospect.

Robin Van Persie continues to divide the community, with one group of players set for glory, while the other bracing themselves for  disappointment. BigFatFrank has decided to give those wildcarders looking to shoehorn the Dutch striker into their team a step by step guide to creating the perfect RVP team. Meanwhile, 7 Shades of Smoke has ben debunking the popular “keep calm and captain RVP” mantra and wondering if it is nothing but a myth.

Elsewhere,Iain_90 ponders whether there’s any weight to the theory of “attacking coverage” across the most offensive teams or if it’s best just targeting certain individuals.

Bonus points and their sudden shine to defenders continues to dominate discussion. King Nemanja is so convinced that the recent glut of bonus points for defenders is no mere fluke that he is prepared to commit himself to a four at the back formation to ensure his team cashes in. For those wanting to follow his lead he’s come up with some great defensive line ups here.

The Champions League is almost here and in our discussion on the best options out there HeyDudes13 has some great budget options to consider  and Konig Luther’s lengthy list in this thread is also well worth looking at.

Worryingly for the community, international injuries have been mounting up this last week, with Liverpool right back Glen Johnson among those possibly destined for a lengthy stay in the physio room. Archie has been running the rule over the candidates who are likely to replace Johnson while he recovers.

Finally, Maxi’s top ten tips for mini-league success provided some useful, albeit sneaky and underhand, advice for winning a mini-league.

Community Leagues

FFS UEFA’s Transfer Window Simulation (TWS) game came to a finale during the international break with Norwich led by The Shadow being crowned TWS Champions. The rest of the top 5 was rounded off by PeppieandFelix‘s Fulham, Liverpool owned by 4vets, Arsenal guided by Zep and HVT‘s Aston Villa. FFS UEFA also tell us that places are still up for grabs in their FA Cup style game. If you are interested sign up here  by the deadline of 11:59pm BST, September 22. Those already involved in the FFS UEFA leagues and those who applied unsuccessfully to be a part of that competition have all been given an automatic space so do not need to apply.

He should be, although it may be too early to tell if that's true for now?

I'd keep Brady, set-pieces and pen duty I think. Redmond/Whittingham would be better options than Ward-Prowse perhaps.

Lampard for Chelsea coverage? If you believe in coverage, that is.

Also, I think Pool won't score that much but if it's 1 or 2 goals per game Sturridge will most likely be involved in them. Had the Benteke/Sturridge dilemma as well but I went with the latter on gut, since Pool has slightly better fixtures PLUS as La Roja says, imminent return of the rat should see a better goal return for the team.

What do you guys think of this WC line-up? I've went for spending big up top and at the back this season, and will wait til more premium midfielders start consistently racking up points before going for them.

      1) Is it wise to double up on Pool at the back, or should I swap Enrique with maybe Zaba?
      2) Benteke or Sturridge?
      3) Taking a punt on Ozil - Wise or should I go with Wally?

      Migs (Harper)
      Ivanovic, Ferdinand, Dawson, Enrique (Chester)
      Brady, Lampard, Ozil (Ward-Prowse, Pennant)
      Sturridge, RVP, Giroud

    Wildcard final draft

    Boruc Myhill ....
    Walker Mertzacker Evra Coleman Chester
Walcott Ben arfa Hernandez Brady Ward-Prowse
    Soldado RVP gIROUD

Keepers rotate well , Four quality defenders plus Chester
Mids ok should provide value for money.
    Strikers top draw

    will have .1 in bank
Some might complain there no Liverpool , but i dont see them as essential just yet. will wait for Suarez Could of gone Mingolet but would have had to downgrade a defender so it swings and roundabouts

Finally! A RMT without Mignolet. No need to justify the keepers. They will do fine.
I'm not convinced about Walker... CBs tend to get more bonus points, so why not Vidic or Agger? if you need totenham coverage why not Vertonghen over Evra.

Geez, every RMT has Mignolet. Yes, he's good value, but his stats so far are inflated by the penalty save and resulting bonus points. Those make him seem head & shoulders above the rest. I expect a bit more creativity on here.
    A: Mignolet & Mertesacker
B: Szcz & Agger (or Sakho if nailed on)

I don't see much difference between the two. If anything I would expect Szcz to get more save points. So why the herd mentality towards Mignolet?

Because Mignolet is £5.7M and what 100% nailed on player can you get for the same or cheaper in the Liverpool defnece. No body knows what's happening with Toure/Sakho

That is definitely a valid argument, and is the reason I'm toying with getting mignolet (on wc at the moment). But Agger is only 0.3 more than Mignolet, and will probably outscore him after attacking returns and bonus points. So which is better? Flip a coin, really.

Morning chaps. Not normally on in the deadzone anymore. Can I get your thoughts?

I have Soldado, Negredo and Sturridge. Barring plan changes, one will leave for Benteke this week, another for Giroud next.

Which ones should leave and in which order?

As good as he probably is, I would need more security than Negredo can give. Toss up for Giroud or Benteke, both are good choices. I would only ship Sturridge if he doesn't play, otherwise I would stick.

Haha, not particularly but I do think Benteke is a MUST this week and Giroud thereafter.

I'll need to deal with Nolan and Paulinho after that.

Lampard - but make sure you have an adequate back up, either 4th or 5th depending on whether 4-3-3 or 3-4-3, as he won't necessarily play every single game. None of the Chelsea mids will, IMO. Mourinho loves Lamps, he's on pens, and always influential. Last season illustrated that he didn't much game time to give great returns.

    On Sturridge v Giroud

Think I'm settled on Sturridge, Liverpool have really nice fixtures and I think that warrants some cover 9if you get the right player) I have Walcott as my Arsenal cover. I've felt from the off that Sturridge will have a good season so I'm backing the courage of my convictions and going with Danny. My own opinion is that Suarez will boost Sturridge's returns, not hinder them. IF Sturridge is ruled out this week I'll get Giroud then swap GW5

Have taken on board the critisism of not having two decent mids

    Hows this

    Mingolet 4.0

    Mertzacker Coleman Shaw Mbiwa Chester
Walcott Michu Ben Arfa Brady Ward Prowse
    Soldado RVP Giroud

Upside is the extra big mid , downside is defence a little weaker although they not too bad. Also will be forced to play either Brady or ward-Prowse each week

I preferred the previous one. Just can't see how Michu will outperform a £9m price tag, although I can easily see Evra making a mockery of £6.5m. He could even outscore Michu.

yea , i think i agree with you , the overall defence much better in first team , and there also the option of 4 3 3 if Brady and Prowse have poor fixtures , prowse probablt not even nailed on

As a suggestion I'd have Coutinho in for Michu until GW7.

      Liverpool: Swansea (A) Southampton (H) Sunderland (A)
      Swansea: Liverpool (H) Palace (A) Arsenal (H)

I think Countinho has more chance of out scoring Michu in those three weeks.
