With the Defenders and Midfielders already assessed, we move to the men up front and analyse the options over the next four to five Gameweeks. Once again, the recent refresh is available in your sidebar – read on for more details on the factors behind our thinking:

While Wayne Rooney has momentum and Robin van Persie is still battling to justify his lofty Fantasy price tag, we remain resolute in our backing of the Dutchman’s potential to score heavily in the coming weeks. On the spot against Palace last time out, Van Persie’s partnership with Rooney looks highly profitable over a kind run of Old Trafford encounters with West Brom, Southampton and Stoke all due in Manchester before Gameweek 9. Rooney clearly has the potential to topple his strike partner if he can maintain form – his 10.5 price tag is on the rise and a drop in Van Persie’s stock and ownership would seem inevitable should Rooney outscore the Dutchman in Sunday’s derby clash.

Aside from Rooney, there are clear pretenders to the top ranking position, with Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud now fully established as an outstanding prospect. Still priced kindly at 9.0 in the FPL, the Frenchman’s goal-a-game record thus far could well be maintained when Stoke pay visit to the Emirates this weekend. Certainly, Giroud should continue to be handed a steady supply of service from midfield and it is perhaps only that midfield talent that detracts from his current appeal as a Fantasy acquisition. With Aaron Ramsey, Theo Walcott and Mesut Ozil such temptations, is Giroud as essential as his points tally and price suggest? Given that Arsenal are one of the few sides who look to have established some attacking fluidity, it’s perhaps wise to stock up with Gunners’ assets at this moment in time, while the likes of City and Chelsea settle and Luis Suarez is back installed in the Liverpool system.

Suarez’s arrival in Gamweeek 6, coupled with the injury to Philippe Coutinho, casts some renewed doubt over Daniel Sturridge’s potential but there’s no denying his form right now. Four goals in as many games speaks volumes and has earned Sturridge an army of new owners in the last seven days. We’ll be watching for the impact of Suarez’s return, however, and the fact that the Uruguayan already sits in our rankings, despite being banned this weekend, indicates just how influential he could be on our thinking in the coming weeks.

Roberto Soldado and Christian Benteke are perhaps unfortunate to drop outside the top five, particularly in the Belgian’s case. While Soldado is yet to register a goal from open play, Benteke has four strikes to his name and continues to cement a reputation as a “fixture proof” asset. That status will be put to the test in forthcoming home encounters with City and Spurs. As for Soldado, he has three home games in four to come after the weekend trip to Wales and that should give him the platform to re-establish his Fantasy stock, having suffered sales in recent weeks. His price point, plus the emergence of Chritstian Eriksen and the potential offered by Erik Lamela, are factors that dent his appeal, however.

If you must delve into the mid-price up front, then Everton’s loan signing Romelu Lukaku nudges above Southampton’s Rickie Lambert, despite the fact he’s yet to kick a ball for the Toffees. Lukaku’s 17 goals at West Brom last season suggest that he has the weapons to convert a ready supply from Everton’s flanks and from Ross Barkley’s promptings in midfield.

Outside of the listed rankings, Cardiff’s Frazier Campbell remains the top budget pick on offer, with Crystal Palace’s Dwight Gayle, armed with spot-kicks, offering the alternative. Southampton’s Jay Rodriguez is perhaps worth monitoring, however – he’s dropped to 5.8 in the FPL but regained his starting role for the Saints in the 0-0 with West Ham. In the short-term, meanwhile, Everton’s Steven Naismith can be acquired for just 4.8 and looks set to retain his start for the trip to Upton Park on Saturday having netted the winner against Chelsea.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

While I've got this placeholder, Van Persie is owned by a somewhat staggering 44.4% of teams. Is this a week where teams without RVP and people that give the armband to someone other than RVP, make big moves up the overall standings?

      Or quite the opposite?

Just for anyone on a wildcard, I've learnt this the hard way. I'm not actually most concerned with getting the premium attacking players right. I'm most concerned with getting right the positions I can't spend free transfers on: Goalkeepers, defenders (especially fourth/fifth defenders) and fourth/fifth mids. I'll be stuck with them for the next 15 GWs, after all.

Been tempted by Ramsey as 4th mid. Can see him getting 5 points per game. Was initially gonna get the cheapest nailed on mid (hopefully around 4.5) but unsure whether the saving is worth it.

It's a gamble but an OK one so long you know what you're getting into. Assuming you want 2000+ points each 1m of your budget is worth 20 points, meaning that 0.5m saved is worth 10 points. Does pay for a hit to swap your keeper if the regular one is injured, obviously if you have budget to do that.

Have a permonition of Giroud being well marked by Shawcross and Huth but Ozil threading Wally in down the flanks for a goal and an assist. coupled with 3 BP's and a CS point thats 28 pts!

    Cabaye4's Bound To Fail Bandwagons

Haven't done one of these in a while so I thought I'd do another tonight before the deadline tomorrow morning. If you didn't see the previous ones, this is basically just me ranting about players who are gaining huge interest and ownership on here and in FPL generally, but who imo won't be successful FPL picks for their owners.

Romelu Lukaku - for a player who hasn't even played a minute for his new club yet, Lukaku has generated a great deal of interest this week. We don't know how/if he'll fit into the Everton side yet he has been bought by over 10,000 people today alone! Everton also have Jelavic and Kone as striking options and with Mirallas and Pienaar key players in the wide roles, there is really only one spot between these three players. Everton aren't involved in Europe so there isn't really much scope for rotating in different competitions. Are we really meant to believe that neither Kone or Jelavic will get starts this season? Martinez himself was even quoted recently saying "Striker is a position which helps from being refreshed now and again". With so many forward options atm, does Lukaku really deserve the transfers in he's been receiving? Not for me he doesn't.

Mesut Ozil - no doubt many on here will argue with this one but is he really worth 10M of our budgets? Having gathered an incredible nearly 20% ownership in game already and finding himself in many a RMT on here, many seem to think so. But for his lofty price tag, does Ozil offer enough goals to be value for money? No one doubts his quality but for 10M+, surely he needs to be contributing at least 12-15 goals over the season to do so? Remember goals are worth 5 for mids, compared to just 3 for an assist and also contribute significantly more towards BP's. With Giroud banging the goals in, Walcott getting plenty of chances and having come off his best season last time out available at cheaper prices, and even Ramsey providing a budget option, is Ozil really a better FPL pick?

I tend to agree with you more on the lukaku one. Kone is sure to begin starting games with him being a key martinez player. He will start league games not just cup ones. Lukaku is great talent but with amount of strikers everton have he for me is a risky pick. He certainly won't start every game.

Ozil for me ais a good pick and will prove himself as the best over the season. Right now ramsey and giroud are delivering but as the season goes on expect ozil to come into his own and really start rattling those pts up

I went for Mert over Rio or Nastasic really because of tomorrows game. My squad was looking paper thin. Having said all that, Arsenal have often found this a tough fixture home and away.

Not the worst decision, but there are safer options out there.

As someone who brought in Eriksen last GW, I think I'd prefer to captain someone like Terry over him for this week (due to BAP allocation and I think Fulham are very poor). Still, could do well.

Why would you captain someone you haven't seen play in 3 weeks and is showing no form whatsoever? Makes your captain choice a complete punt.

Play it safe with the captain choice and have a few punts in other positions.

I think Soldado/Rooney not falling/rising tonight is going to edge me to dropping him, so maybe Erikson or Siggy, if he can get game time. I really thought his jig was up. Lamela might settle in with game time too though and prove the best option.

On my WC and wanted people's opinion on it before the deadline

    Krul Boruc
    Coleman Enrique Dawson Fonte Collins
    Michu Eriksen HBA Ramsey Moses
    Rooney Giroud Benteke
    1.5M in bank

I know there's going to be selection headaches with that front 8, but having 5 very playable mids, allows me to pick the ones with best fixtures every week. It's not as if Ramsey, Moses or even HBA are so expensive that they can't be benched any given gameweek. Also got 1.5M left in bank to upgrade a defender to Evra, after United play City.

Whay do people think of this WC team?
