With leagues across Fantasy Premier League (FPL), Sky Sports and Sun Dream Team there is plenty to catch up on following the international break. We look at those who have excelled during Gameweek 5 and those who are a little richer after having a great week in our PlayON game.

Fantasy Premier League

We have a new entry straight in at top spot in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game. Hemant Gosavi racked up 57 points last weekend, with Chelsea duo Oscar and John Terry both returning double-figure hauls, while Swansea’s Ben Davies and Arsenal’s in-form Aaron Ramsey also produced as Hemant clinched fifth spot in the overall standings, with 378 points so far.

Tarik Alibou sits in second after a Gameweek 5 score of 59. Seven of his players scored five points or more, with Yaya Toure, Per Mertesacker, Ross Barkley and Davies his chief protagonists. Stuart Hartley slips to third despite double-figure hauls from both Michu and Mesut Ozil in midfield, Ed C rockets into fourth in the Scout league after an incredible 82 points last weekend and Hafisi Nazir completes the top five, sitting on 359 points overall. Thanks to the efforts of our featured managers, Fantasy Football Scout remains at the top of the best leagues – the code to join is 1580-1106.

Wasana Busby moves to the top of the Fantasy Football Scout Members league with an overall score of 340 – Barkley, Toure, Terry and Jan Vertonghen all delivered last weekend. Corey Silveira slips to second after a 40-point haul in Gameweek 5, while Ivan Heneghan is a new entry in third spot – Per Mertesacker and Michu were his main performers from the previous weekend’s action.

In the Contributors and Moderators league, Andy is back at the top, with his faith in big-money defenders Vertonghen and Leighton Baines proving a wise decision. Big Dunc moves into second after playing his wildcard – the decision to captain Ozil harvested 28 of his 65 points in Gameweek 5.

Sky Sports Fantasy Football

Nick Whitrid remains in pole position in our Sky Sports league. Having reached the summit last week, he has now moved 22 points ahead of second-placed Leo Reid on 435 points; Nick in joint-sixteenth in the overall standings. In third place in the Scout league is Josie O’Neil, who is four points off Leo on 409 points. The winner of our Sky league, which is top of the league of leagues, wins £1,000. To join, visit Sky Sports Fantasy Football and key in League Name: FFScout, League Code: 8000112.

The Sun Dream Team

Lee Walpole remains at the top of our Sun Dream Team with a score of 431 points – his ploy to load up on six Spurs and three Arsenal players has certainly proven the correct tactic so far. Paul Williams is back in second on 397 points – all 11 of his players are from Tottenham – while John David Nicol takes third spot, with all but two of his players representing the north London duo. To join visit The Sun Dream Team, league name: Fantasy Football Scout, password: ReWOZhn1T1 and PIN: 8061654.

PlayON

Chris Robinson was the winner of PlayON’s £1,000 guaranteed game last weekend. He picked up a haul of £300 thanks to his decision to load up on three of Chelsea’s backline and Leighton Baines, while Stephane Sessegnon, Bacary Sagna and Yohan Cabaye – all highlighted in our picks article last week – ensured Chris was in the money. Tony Biswas earned second spot and a cash prize of £200, while Lionel Payne’s third place finish resulted in a £119 pay-out.

In our exclusive Fantasy Football Scout PlayON £2 game a total of £114 was on the table. Chris Robinson cleaned up here, too, earning £39.74, while Paul Thornden (£26.64) and Jason Turner (£20.16) took second and third spot respectively.

Don't have Mignolet. Worth goin with Kolo or stick with Nastasic, Baines and Vidic in defence?

Of those it's Eriksen that I would like in my team! I bought him at 8m but to get him in would take a bit of downgrading in two positions. I don't know about Dawson long term, I have a feeling AVB will alter things and as for Ramsey, a good pick but he's been lucky with his shot to goal ratio, plus there's so much competition in Arsenal's mid

Excellent team. Very similar to mine 🙂

      Boruc Davis
      Baines Vidic Clyne Wilson B.Turner
      Ozil Michu Moses Barkley Ravel
      Suarez Giroud Rooney

I have been debating Nasty as my third def but their fixtures are a bit meh and I would have to downgrade Moses to Arnau - not sure about him and Barkley with Ravel as back up.

Incidentally I have no problem doubling up with Clyne, Wilson's OOP in the engine room is more a negative to me. Decent team, decent fixtures and probably the best in that bracket at the moment.

Yeah. Clyne's fixtures look great don't they. I think Nasty is a good representative to have from MCity. I was very close to Aguero over Suarez but fixtures swayed me. Think I'm also going to be going with Barkley now too as Brady has a hernia.

    Clyne analysis.

A note on Clyne @ 4.4 He scored 16 from 2.5 appearances (he came on for Shaw after he had been injured pre season) if he had played all 6 games based on SOT clean sheets when he didn't play assuming 1bps for CS he'd be on a score of... 7 + 7 + 2 + 8 + 7 = 31 Which is 3 points less than Fonte @ 4.8 or 4 less than Lovren @ 5.0

As he is now likely to start unless injured - and you're on WC I'd seriously consider him

    Buy buy buy!!!

Hope this helps save you money over fonte, and lovren etc

Gents what are you all doing with Wally and Tekkers out for next foreseeable gameweeks? I absolutely hate taking hits but at least one if not both have to go this week...

    A) Tekkers > Lukaku
    B) Tekkers > Negredo
    C) Tekkers & Wally > Lukaku & Ozil
    D) Tekkers & Wally > Rooney & Ramsey

Can someone explain to me how a players increase in value converts to a gain for value in your squad. For instance, i aquired Giroud in week 4 for 8.9 and now is worth 9.3 but the value is only showing 9.0 in my squad. it shouldr be 9.1 right? Thanks for any assistance in clearing the mud.

The Team Value you see on FPL is just your bank money plus the current price to buy of your whole squad.

The actual value of your team comes from the total of their selling prices plus your bank.

Without being able to see the transfer window details I don't think anyone can shed more light on it. Were you wildcarding? He could have been less than 8.9 at that stage as he was in the middle of rising from 8.6 to 8.9. If you bought him at 8.7 he'd be 9.0 now.

Why do you say 8.9? If you're just taking what price he started GW 4 with that's not going to tell you what price you bought him at.. The only place to see it is http://fantasy.premierleague.com/transfers/ Data View.

Beginning of the week: Suarez transferred in without playing a PL single minute.

Midweek: Rooney fever, despite United not showing any creativity and Rooney not having scored from open play (or even had a shot from inside the box).

Weekend: I can see a lot of moaning on here.

Nearly certain. After the Pool match was going on about how Sturridge and Chicharito would mop up the points and people buying Rooney and Suarez were just buying the linking players, not the main benefactors.

"This site baffles me at times. Everyone cooing over Rooney and Suarez, while Chicharito and Sturridge will return the FPL points.

Yes, these players are world class but we're playing FPL and you're picking the link player rather than the goalscorer.

And why folk are picking Rooney and Suarez over Aguero this week, is beyond me. Aguero(c)."

Sounds to me like you fancy Chico 😉

May I also offer a little bit of a counter argument. Let us look at someone like Michu, usually played behind the striker (especially when he was scoring more) and he certainly scored a lot. Suarez last season, even behind Sturridge, was a great pick.

                    It's Chico time 🙂

An FPL midfielder like Michu playing off a striker is gold dust. Didn't he score more goals there than leading the line?

Suarez will score points regardless, Imo, once match sharp. But for 1.5m or so less, you can have the selfish Sturridge who should benefit from the space created by defenders tracking Suarez.

Yep, the difference being he was a mid compared to being classed as a forward but the point is that playing off the striker can provide a lot of goals, not force you to be solely an assister! People have short memories when it comes to the Suarez/Sturridge debate 😉 Same think happened last season, Suarez returned and began outscoring Studge. You see many a time it is the striker's job to hold up and play it back (Chelsea take it to an extreme example in which someone like Torres is always expected to play it back).

I certainly understand your reasoning but keep an eye open on these guys 😉

I like the Chelsea example you've given, where their striker occupies the centrehalfs (halves?! :)) and is almost bypassed in the attacking move. I think that is increasingly the case with 433 style formations (or a false 9 where players rotate around the striker position). But it wasn't the case with Drogba who was prolific, although Lampard in behind was equally so.

So really, the way i look at it is if the no. 10 is a midfielder in FPL then he's a potential bargain, but if it's a striker then I'm wary he might be POO 🙂

Having set pieces / pens helps their cause, especially at 10.5 - 11m a pop.

I'll tell you one thing... if Rooney has a quiet weekend, I'm going to have a great weekend! Good luck, mate 🙂

Sigh. If i had a choice of Rooney, Suarez, RVP, Sturridge, Aguero, Benteke, Giroud, etc. Rooney and Suarez would be the bottom of that list for me. They don't finish off the moves, they assist or worse, assist the assister. That was the point.

Rooney has been Utd's best player so far and will keep scoring points as long as he stays fit. His freekick taking has gone up a notch and as it stands is the only one capable of assisting RVP. Rooney is also not a rotation risk with it being widely considered that he needs to be constantly playing in order to stay fit. The 3.5 million difference Upgrades a 4.0m defender to Baines.

Suarez is a different matter... But having Rooney in your team at home to West Brom is definitely a good decision!

    Rate my -16 pointer.

Chester, Walcott, Van Persie, Benteke & Soldado ➡ Baines, Michu, Rooney & Suarez.

-16? Jeez, you're going for it! Don't you mind playing conflicting players though? You have Michu and Koscielny. It's either a Michu gets points, of Koscielny, one is going to cancel the other out.

Far too much money for me. I really think a better move would have been Walcott & Benteke -> Michu & striker for a 4 point hit. RVP & Soldado both out for hits looks like a disaster waiing to happen.

No Arsenal attackers with their form?

      Good team otherwise.
