While many of us already have one eye on next weekend’s schedule, the final match of Gameweek 8 takes place this evening as Crystal Palace and Fulham go head-to-head at Selhurst Park.
Given that only three players across both sides have a Fantasy Premier League (FPL) ownership in excess of 4%, interest in tonight’s match may be minimal. For those cheering on a Joel Ward clean sheet or hoping Dimitar Berbatov can open his account for the season, there’s plenty on the line, though.
Ian Holloway makes a trio of changes for the home side as he looks to recover from the previous Gameweek’s loss to Liverpool. Jose Campana, Yannick Bolasie and Dwight Gayle are all drafted in for the Eagles, with Jimmy Kebe, Marouane Chamakh and Cameron Jerome the men to make way.
For the visitors, Maarten Stekelenburg returns between the sticks for the first time since Gameweek 1 after recovering from a shoulder injury. The Dutch keeper is one of four changes made by Martin Jol – Kieran Richardson replaces Fernando Amorebieta at left-back, while Scott Parker and Darren Bent also return. Parker replaces Giorgos Karagounis in the middle of the park, while Bent’s selection looks set to shift Dimitar Berbatov into a deeper role, forcing Bryan Ruiz onto the wing, with Damien Duff dropping out.
Our Dugout Discussion chatroom is now available to welcome those who like that matchday exchanges in real-time.
Finally, as mentioned earlier, Paddy Power are 5/1 on Darren Bent to score anytime (limited to a £10 stake) for any new customers who open an account prior to this evening’s kick-off.
