We cast our analytical eye over the weekend’s data after last night’s match at Selhurst Park drew a line under the numbers from Gameweek 8. Plenty of big names impressed – Arsene Wenger’s new playmaker, City’s attacking twosome, a revitalised Belgian’s display at the Bridge and a certain Uruguayan all come under the spotlight…

A couple of clean sheets and Diego Costa brace to go with them is a lovely start.

Liverpool have some very nice home fixtures.

I got Suarez in because it's terrifying being a non-owner, seeing him get involved in everything, particularly at Anfield.

    From end of last page:

    My mids are:

    Yaya/Michu/Ozil/Ramsey/Barkley

Would love to bring in 1 of Hazard/Oscar/Lallana

I'm thinking to take out Yaya, but undecided on who to bring in. I want to take a punt on Lallana, as he has good fixtures and Chelsea have a tough game against City.

    WDYT? Thnx!

Considerin everyone's strugglin with choosing oscar and hazard and it's a 50-50 at the moment maybe it'd be wise to consider hazard is on pens when lamps aint playin(which happens often now) and some corners and FKs.. a small edge, but an edge nonetheless. The Schurrle injury makes him even more nailed on too... Plus he can play both RW and LW hence more versatile

Hazard all day for me. I know Oscar can look better on the pitch but it comes down to opportunities for points and Hazard leads in all categories. That said if your Oscar at 8.5, I wouldn't be swapping anytime soon

Eventually. Suarez is a great footballer, Sturridge is very good, but Suarez always looks more motivated to me. Never seems to lose focus. If he musses ten shots on goal he seems able to tell himself he'll get the 11th. But don't do it now unless you're sure it'll happen next GW. Different story if they're the same price. The price difference, could serve you well invested elsewhere.

That's always a difficult move because there will always be other (perceived) priorities so it will probably be for a hit. In the meantime you could be losing points each week. Could be...

Madness to swap Sturridge to Suarez? I prefer Suarez but got Studge at £9m

or just do Eriksen to Hazard and be sensible?

      Put it this way

      A) sell a good option for another good option

      B) sell a problem for a good option

      Does that help? 😉

Ha, when you put it like that.. I like Suarez as the capt option that i dont trust with Sturridge as much.

2nd one i'll do, Hazard or Oscar???

Never had such a bad start so I need to beef up my captain choices and get a differential.

So I've decided from now on to chose the player on form irrespective of his price tag so long as he is also playing for a form team. Then I use the table linked below (for members) which shows teams who have conceded the most shots in the box over the previous 4 games and find a link between the chosen player and the opposing team to optimise my statistical chances.

This week I have Lallana against the team which is actually at the top of this league of shots conceded in the box, Fulham. Looks good,

If it works I will repost a link to this next weekend and if it doesn't I won't!!

is there any mid worth to get for Eriksen up to 9.1, not being Michu, Oscar or Hazard ? I'd also need some nice argumentation to bring Silva in again into my team.

The manager was the weakness tonight. AW: "We should have been more cautious and played for the point, but you can't say that to players who want to win" He is the manager!

It is the one slight criticism that can be aimed at Wenger, the lack of a gameplan.
