City’s in-form frontman continues to catch the eye. Newcastle’s on-loan forward also impresses, while we cast an eye over a couple of midlands-based midfielders and assess attacking threat from the back over this weekend and the last six Gameweeks:
UCL fantasy help please.
Cavani>Diego Costa no brainer right? Other strikers are Messi and Ronaldo.Open ControlsEvening all!
My late Sunday night decision to dump Michu somehow turned into a -8 😐

Which ONE would you play from these 3?
Turner (avl), Sess (che), Brady (sou)
Turner - Villa struggling to score but surely they won't blank again?
Sess - Can't see Chelsea conceding but if they do high chance Sess is involved.
Brady - Can't see Southampton conceding but he only needs a dodgy set piece.
Thoughts? Votes?Open ControlsBrady for me, as you say, the set pieces would swing my decision in his favour.

Phillippe Coutinho
heard many people on here say that coutinho is a waste.. a dissapointment only after he failed to return for 3 games this year, before getting injured. During those 3 games, coutinho was the most influential player on the pitch. Just look at the swansea game when he came off injured; liverpool had nothing going forward the moment he came off.
Last year
After being transferred to Liverpool in January, Coutinho made an immediate impact. At the back half of last year he was involved in all of Liaverpool’s play. Consider that when he was introduced to the team slowly with sub appearances after coming from inter. Last year he conjured up 3 goals and 7 assists from 923 minutes, finishing with a total score of 70. Thats 6.9 points per 90 minutes.
The brazilian magician will only get better.Open ControlsI thought you said long post 🙂
Open ControlsHe's still overpriced.
Open ControlsPut it this way then.. last year in the same minutes yaya toure has played this year.. he would be equal with him.. only behind ramsay.
Open ControlsWell I think Yaya is also overpriced.
Coutinho's scoring rate last season was due for regression based on his underlying stats.
I just dug out this discussion from May:

I still hold to the views in that post.Open Controls
Influential yes, FF returns no.
Last year has been done.Open ControlsBecause of 3 games he played this year? Dont you think suarez will boost his potential? Didnt rvp blank 3 games this year? Or was it more?
Open ControlsGood point.Hopefully he'll catch fire with SAS, more importantly as a Pool supporter. FF points would be nice too but I'm not getting him yet.
RVP is a striker, largely dependant on good supply wheras Coutinho should be supplying stokers and hopefully get some goals of his own.Open ControlsWell then take hazard for example instead of rvp!
he came close so many times for an assist when suarez wasnt there.. should be good. I want him for this week but I may just save FT. I have hazard and oscar and want to trade one out for him.. dont know which one though so ill wait!Open Controls
Why are people getting rid of Giroud?
Arsenal have Soton(H), Cardiff(A), Hull(H) after Manu.Open ControlsBecause he isn't as good as Suarez, RvP, Rooney or Sturridge right now. And he's getting tired and doesn't put up monster point totals and has to share points with lots of possible contenders and ManU/Soton are probably the two of the worst back to back fixtures you could have.

Also, quick discussion point..

Olsson kid who plays with Norwich
Open ControlsCheers. Is he regular? And did he concede 7 goals at the weekend? Does he play in midfield?
Open Controlsya he plays and is quite attacking too he has played the last 5 in a row and if u look at his fixtures they are decent. Fair enough they did ship 7 goals but that was against the best in the league and that wont happen every week

any news on brady? Physio room thinks possibly a return to starting after the international break.
Thinking of getting him in this weekOpen ControlsI need a new UCL striker after Müller failed to start last week (although I guess he might start wide this time with Robben out?)
13m to spend, means Messi is an easy pick, but I'd love a dabble at Ibra - such a shame that he's doubtful and Blanc is coy about 'managing his injury'. Agüero would be nice too if I could guarantee a start - not sure I trust the game pre-deadline!
What would you do with this lot?
Wiland (Courtois)
Alaba, Adriano, Marquinhos (Schär, Smolnikov)
Oscar, Hazard, Ramsey, Sam (Salah)
Ronaldo, Müller, Diego CostaOpen ControlsBest forward after Messi and Ronaldo for Champions League fantasy ?

"Last season's top striker Thierry Henry was the first player chosen by many Fantasy Managers' for their 2005-6 team, but with the Arsenal hit-man out injured, many Managers may be looking for an alternative to lead their front line in his absence. Fantasy Stats are a good way of comparing who is banging in the goals and scoring the points. Top of the current strikers is Charlton's Darren Bent, with 40 points and 5 goals. Charlton's next 4 fixtures are West Bromwich, Tottenham, Fulham and Portsmouth. West Brom top the goals conceded table with 11, with Fulham on 9 goals conceded and Portsmouth on 7. Tottenham's defense has been resolute with only 3 goals conceded, but Charlton have the home advantage in this game. Middlesbrough striker Ayegbeni Yakubu has scored twice this season, but his team also has a run of winnable fixtures, starting with Sunderland at home, then Aston Villa, Portsmouth and West Ham. Yakubu has started the last 3 games and has scored in the last 2."

Open ControlsMarlon Harewood 4th in the forward standings, my giddy aunt
Open ControlsIt's Geoff Horsfield that made me go 😯
Now there's a name I haven't heard in a few years. It made me go and Wikipedia him, and it turns out he's still playing:
Geoffrey Malcolm "Geoff" Horsfield is an English former professional footballer and football coach, who is now playing for Alvechurch in the Midland Football Alliance.Open ControlsAh yes, Horsfield just about was within my living memories as WBA are my second team in the Prem having been born in Brum. Not to mention he played for Birmingham before that, brave fellow, midlands rivalry is white hot!

cheersOpen ControlsPosted this earlier, new crowd and all;
Feeling quite confident picking Hazard over Oscar as Michu's replacement (thanks to GB). There couldn't be a better stage of the season for him to hit his form, if he could stay clear of injuries and keep his place. He scored a goal against Wes Brom last season (away though), MOTM and goal against West Ham at Stamford Bridge. Scored against Stoke at Britannia as well against Southampton at the Bridge. Zero attacking points against Sunderland over two games, but they're a remarkable weaker team this season IMO. You could say the opposite on Southampton, they look like a top 6 side to me.
Oscar or Hazard, Who'll your pick?Open ControlsI went Oscar Mainly because he appears more consistent in his scoring.
Open ControlsFair enough. Was close to doing Michu -> Oscar as well, but changed my mind.
Open Controls
already have hazard
Open ControlsA city midfielder. Don't see any great form of Chelsea that I can commit too compared to
Others. Hazard is a bit of get some points here and there but he will give you 2's a lot and Oscar was consistent but I don't know whether there is evidence of him fading off it. So I'm staying clear I think.Open ControlsSilva was on my radar as well. Got Aguero last week, and with Chelsea fixtures looking nice, I chose him over Silva.
Open Controls
Oscar IMO
Open ControlsThink someone said earlier, hazard more chance of explosion
Open Controls
- Open Controls
Wait until after the International break.
Open Controls
great, thinking of ozil to walcott after the int break
Open ControlsCan't wait. Ozil -> Wally and upgrade defense.
Open ControlsScored within two minutes against United last season I think. Will find it hard to score off the bench this week though.
Open Controls
Is giroud to Rooney really worth a hit this week?Or wait until next week?
I don't know If Rooney will out score Giroud by at least 4 pts to justify it?
Thoughts?Open Controlsanyone else?

In short I'm happy to write this next GW off to get it right....
