Robin Van Persie grabs the winner for United in a day that sees Arsenal, City and Spurs all fail to find the net. Loic Remy fires Newcastle to victory at the Lane, with Tim Krul proving an unbeatable barrier in goal, whilst Wilfried Bony bags a brace as Swansea and Stoke share the spoils in a six-goal thriller at the Liberty.

Van Persie’s Scoring Streak Extended
The Dutchman scored for the fourth Gameweek in a row as United got the better of league leaders Arsenal. With Per Mertesacker sidelined by flu, Thomas Vermaelen took his place alongside Laurent Koscielny in the heart of the Gunners backline but the duo were unable to prevent their former team-mate from heading home the match-winner in the first period. With the maximum bonus also accrued, Van Persie’s ascent up the forward ranking continues – he is now just two points behind Wayne Rooney in the FPL standings but the latter’s assist also kept his points ticking over, with attacking returns in seven of the last nine now.

Games against Spurs and Everton in the next three look testing but with the schedule looking kinder after the Gameweek 14 clash against the Toffees (NEW, avl, WHM, hul, nor), the United front two look set to be afforded further opportunity to pick up the points. At the back, United’s first clean sheet since Gameweek 4 came at a cost as Nemanja Vidic was subbed off after sustaining a head injury in a collision with David De Gea – after the game, his manager revealed he has gone to hospital for scans but is expected “to be okay”.

Remy the Newcastle Talisman
It’s seven goals in as many games now for the Frenchman after he struck the only goal in yesterday’s win at the Lane. Having beaten Chelsea in the previous Gameweek, Alan Pardew retained a 4-4-2 formation, with Remy partnered by Shola Ameobi up top – incredibly, the 1-0 victory means the Magpies have already won more times on the road this season than they managed over the entirety of 2012/13. With back-to-back wins under their belt, confidence will be high as Newcastle now prepare for a couple of enticing home encounters with Norwich and West Brom – Remy has now played a part in eight of his side’s 15 goals this season and is poised for significant investment ahead of the Canaries clash, with owners of Romelu Lukaku perhaps eyeing up a move for the 7.7 priced forward as Everton’s fixtures take a turn for the worse.

Tottenham’s Toils Up Top Continue
Yesterday’s 1-0 home defeat means Spurs have notched just nine times in the opening 11 matches – only the bottom three have scored less. Foiled time and again by the heroics of Tim Krul in the visitors’ goal, Andre Villas-Boas’ side can consider themselves a little unlucky, though; the Dutchman’s 13 saves is a league record for the season – bettering David Marshall’s 11, which also came against Spurs back in Gameweek 5. Once again, Villas-Boas’ tinkered with his XI, bringing in Christian Eriksen and Gylfi Sigurdsson to the attacking midfield three; further indication he has yet to strike a balance within his starting line-up. Up next for Spurs, City, United, Liverpool and Southampton await in the next six; those still holding the likes of Roberto Soldado will surely be planning a quick escape as Tottenham continue to struggle to penetrate defences.

City’s Away Worries
Manuel Pellegrini’s side rolled up to the Stadium of Light in devastating form, having hit 12 goals in their last couple of matches against Norwich and CSKA Moscow at the Etihad. A resolute display by the hosts derailed Sergio Aguero’s scoring streak of seven goals in the previous five – the Argentine (who was drafted in by over 215,000 Fantasy managers last week) had only failed to pick up points once before when named in the starting line-up, back in Gameweek 3. City have now picked up four points from six road trips – a record superior only to the bottom five – but with back-to-back home games against Spurs and Swansea up next, Aguero’s owners will be optimistic yesterday’s blank was just a temporary setback.

Black Cats Backline Improving
Without a clean sheet all season, the visit of City hardly bred confidence in the Sunderland defence. With Wes Brown and Vito Mannone handed their first league starts of the season and Phil Bardsley shifting over to left-back to cover for the suspended Andreas Dossena, Gus Poyet’s side upset the odds with a vital victory – Bardsley’s match-winner means he has now scored in each of his last two in all competitions and continues his transformation under the new man in charge, after he was frozen out by Paulo Di Canio. With a new-look defence and a shift in formation to 4-1-4-1, Poyet’s side have now conceded just two goals in the last three Gameweeks – having now won each of their last three at home in all competitions, the Uruguayan has undoubtedly made an immediate impact. The upcoming schedule still remains testing – Chelsea and Spurs pay visit in the next four – but if the Wearsiders continue to improve, a kind-looking run from Gameweek 17 onwards could elevate their assets in our thinking.

Bony Starting to Settle
With Michu missing out through knee and ankle problems, Michael Laudrup needed his summer signing to step up against Stoke yesterday. In his first start since Gameweek 8, the Ivorian finally hinted at the form which persuaded his manager to pay £12 million for his services by bagging a brace in the 3-3 draw against Mark Hughes’ side – taking his tally to four goals for the season, double that of the stricken Spaniard. Now down to just 7.4 in FPL, Bony’s display has surely nailed down a starting berth for the Gameweek 12 trip to Fulham and with home games against Newcastle and Hull, supplemented with a trip to Norwich in the next five, he certainly has the platform to push on.

Potter Midfield Pick up the Points
As Mark Hughes’ side brace themselves for a run which includes four home games and a trip to Hull in the next six, a trio of their midfield assets all found the net at the Liberty. Jon Walters, Stephen Ireland and Charlie Adam – courtesy of a last-gasp spot-kick – earned the Potters a point in a game which saw cult favourite Marko Arnautovic withdrawn before the hour mark. Ireland, at just 4.7, has now started the last five in “the hole” under his former City boss and could be a real budget option should be retain his starting berth. Post-match, Hughes revealed Ireland was subbed off with a foot knock, while Arnautovic was withdrawn as he “couldn’t get in the game”. The result means Stoke have now managed a single clean sheet in seven, though, suggesting their defence may struggle to pick up the returns – up top, Peter Crouch chipped in with a pair of assists but with competition fierce in our three-man frontlines, a punt in midfield looks the safest way forward for those who fancy investing in Hughes’ outfit.

I had 2 ft's this week & have already sold Lukaku for Remy.
    Suggestions on my 2nd ft.

    Mignolet, Boruc
    Baines, Terry, Dawson, Clyne, Burner
    Ozil, Ramsey, Lallana, Siggy, Barkley
    Remy, Suarez, Aguero

I was thinking of selling Dawson due to him deing on 4 yc & as they have MCI & MU in the next 2. But with so few cs options this week it's hard to decide. The only defender that stands out to me is McAuley.
Was considering selling Siggy but he started this week. Was Lennon rested/injured,dropped. if I did sell him it would have to be for a 7.5 midfielder & the one that stands out is Cabaye but is 2 Newcastle too much? Is Ramires a good option?

    Opinions appreciated.

Cheers for the reply. Amaltifano is a an option but he's only scored 8 points in the last 4 games. Not so sure on WHU since Reid is injured.

last night i did vidic->debuchy to escape from the price fall of vidic and there was no indication of a ban for debuchy on the fpl site. he was on 4 yellow and i took the risk for the next two good fixtures. today i looked at my team and he seems suspended! (probably because of a league cup yellow). I am very angry, fpl cant update the statues even after 30 hours! what a transfer!

It's tricky, Debuchy was on our tightrope last week so you might have seen he was on four bookings before yesterday's game but we also had to check this morning to be certain.

When there are Capital One Cup bookings involved it's very difficult to be 100% certain until the FA confirm. Last week we added Cabaye to the tightrope late because data on his booking vs Man City was incorrect. All in all, the data collection for bookings isn't great - PA miss stuff, Opta miss stuff - it's a bit of a minefield.

it's been a good lesson for me: check twice when jumping on a tightropers! actually, i did not even think of a cup yellow 🙁

it will be hard to swallow, he was my only early transfer this year and became a tragedy 🙁

        anyway, thanks for the explanation.

    @KoL

I´m still under the water line on the millionaire league, imo it´s getting tough to rise the ranks without midfielders to choose from.

Was thinking about trading Lukaku for Remy, I believe this is your idea too but is it really worth it?
I mean Lukaku hasn´t been free-scoring like we´re used to but at least he is playing 90mins. and could score at any given time. Remy has the fixtures and the form I know but it still feels wrong to get rid of Luk. Where do you stand atm?

Right now im on the fence mate. I think Lukaku is just as good (if not even a better option) as Remy over the next few. The main thing twisting my arm though is the prices if I ride the Remy price rises and avoid the Lukaku drops then I can get RvP back after Spurs.

Gone for it myself, for a few reasons:

      - too much dead weight building up in my team (Jedinak, Sturridge, Barkley, MTurner to name a few)
      - becoming more clear which teams are strong in which areas and which players nailed on
      - wanted Suarez before his price rockets and would have been a hit otherwise
      - waited until Feb last year and felt a bit pointless so soon after the Jan WC
      - had a bad week and needed to kneejerk

If I'd have got Suarez in for a Sturridge for a hit last week I would prob have held on to it though.

Lots of healthy discussion about cheap defenders, big hitting forwards and, of course, under performing midfielders.

What's your current Team Value Breakdown (TVB)?

    GK - 9.4
    DEF - 25,4
    MID - 31.7
    FOR - 34.1

    Pretty evenly distributed, I think.

Would like some opinions about my team for next gameweek!

    Harper (CRY)

    Terry - Fonte - Tomkins
    (whu) (ars) (CHE)

    Coutinho - Oscar - Ramsey - Morrison
    (eve) (whu) (SOU) (CHE)

    Aguero - Suarez - Lukaku
    (TOT) (eve) (LIV)

    Guzan - Ward - Jedinak - Clyne
    (wba) (hul) (hul) (ars)

1 FT and 0.6 in the bank.

    Thinking about:
For next gameweek: Fonte -> Arsenal defender or Ridgewell
And for Gameweek 13: Coutinho -> Walcott ?

Also should I play Ward instead of Tomkins now that Crystal Palace look much better at the back?

So having reflected on yesterdays game, we lost to a corner goal and there wasn't much in the game.

Second half United got battered and Arsenal should have scored. Am slightly more anxious of United now but still think Moyes is out of his depth and will c*ck it up again soon.

Arsenal will now go on another run of winning games and will still be top come Xmas, when we will buy another striker as Giroud is looking a bit tired and has lost some confidence.

One will be going for this GW(for snoddy), and the next the following GW(For wally if fit).

He scored 6 in 14 for QPR and has 7 in 9 for Newcastle. I don't think it's luck. THe only concern would be Newcastles next few games being at home against weaker opposition, less chance to counter attack.

Spurs and Everton have dodgy fixtures, no one in the United back line is nailed (Evra about a close as it gets) City are crap away, Arsenal not keeping CS atm (though Mert is a decent option)

So we are Siamese twins? Not sure I follow.

Anyway, Gaztown will probably upend the Kitson and end rodent problem

The only issue is Remy's imminent court case. He's on bail now and on 21st Nov (two days before Norwich game) his case will be re-assessed. Could be thrown out, could be re-bailed or could be charged.

If charged, it's a serious enough offence that he could be dropped from the side, although that's far from certain. As someone pointed out, Newcastle played Andy Carroll with charges hanging over his head.

I'm not sure right now whether to risk getting Remy now to beat the price rises, or wait until after 21st and see if Pardew says anything.

I'd keep Lukaku. But if you have no other real concerns it could pay off.

Currently have Benteke in my squad, worth looking at bringing in Remy so I can strengthen my midfield do you think?

I wouldn't. Not worth giving him the boot if you just got him in. He should score soon.

I have had him for 3 weeks now, blanked every one so far. I brought him in for the fixtures and its not happened yet. I'm looking at Remy seriously due to fixtures and more importantly for me, form.

There are no midfield options. I just got Benteke in as well, I am sure he will get points in the next couple of GWs.

          no not worth it
benteke will come good after 4 blanks
if u get both then u have 2 semi-differentials against the template of suarez/stur rooney aguero

Thats a good point, my forward line is currently Benteke, Suarez, Rooney.
I have had Benteke in for 3 weeks now, its frustrating as from what I have seen he has had chances. Remy is in form and has the fixtures to go with it, for me Benteke only has fixtures goign for him at the moment

Certainly doesn't look worth 27m at the moment.

That being said, it must be frustrating for him watching Townsend beat 3 players cut inside and blast it over at least 5-6 times every game.

          no surprise really
a lot of people in spain were stunned at the fee spurs paid for him
i think it was all of the wave that developped last year that all that shines in spain is gold

That was a bit in jest but seriously I felt he was always going to struggle from the get go in England. Too much of a difference in the style of play.

        Mignolet, Marshall
        Shaw, Rat, Turner, Williams, Ivanovic
        Morrison, Amalfitano, Mirallas, Hazard, Gerrard
        Suarez, Lukaku, Giroud
        1.2M, 2FT

Any thoughts? I'm considering Remy for Lukaku but also thinking about offloading Mirallas and Giroud... Downgrading Ivanovic to a Villa defender to free up cash for Aguero is also tempting but Chelsea's fixtures look pretty good. Other suggestions welcome too.

Hey guys, is it safe to get Walcot in for next week? Need a Silva replacement and I'd like to get a heavy hitter and Walcots the only one I want (have Hazard, not convinced by Ozil).

walcott is unlikely to go up in price over the next 2 weeks
i would wait to hear the reports after the international break before getting him in
if all is good then he will make a good differential

He's hardly likely to shine even if he starts which is doubtful after a long time out. I would wait to see if he gets game time first and then if he performs too
