With just a few hours left until this morning’s deadline, we roll out our weekly look at a trio of overlooked alternatives for your consideration once again – Sergio Aguero’s strike-partner, Arsenal’s fit-again winger and a Dutchman proving his worth to the Carrow Road cause.

Alvaro Negredo

City’s summer signing remains firmly under Fantasy radars due to the exploits of strike-partner Sergio Aguero. There’s no doubting Negredo’s impact since arriving from Sevilla, though – five goals and three assists in just eight starts under Manuel Pellegrini highlights that he’s wasted little time in settling into his new surroundings.

Crucially, those eight appearances in the XI have arrived in the last nine Gameweeks. Starting the season behind Edin Dzeko in the strikeforce pecking order, the Spaniard has since cemented a regular role alongside the sublime Aguero, with their flourishing partnership tearing top-flight backlines apart. As the season unfolds, the duo’s understanding goes from strength to strength, with Negredo’s physical approach the ideal foil for Aguero – it’s little wonder his manager described him as “the perfect player for the Premier League” after Sunday’s demolition of Tottenham.

Whilst there’s no question Aguero is the explosive option of the two, Negredo – particularly at home – has ticked over nicely, producing a goal or assist in each of the last five at the Etihad. Available for 9.1 in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL), Negredo will set you back 8.6 in the Sky Sports game and 6.0 in the Sun Dream Team ahead of a home game against Swansea. He may appeal to Aguero owners as well, providing the option of doubling up on Pellegrini’s attack as they look to continue the only remaining 100% home record in the top-flight.

Theo Walcott

The Arsenal wide-man has finally recovered from the abdominal injury that forced a last-minute withdrawal prior to the Gameweek 5 home win over Stoke. Introduced from the bench in the last couple of games in all competitions, Walcott has been tentatively eased back into the fold by Arsene Wenger but, as his match fitness picks up, may well be poised for a start away to Cardiff this weekend.

Still owned by under 4% in the FPL game, Walcott’s return to the Arsenal XI is eagerly anticipated by Fantasy managers. With team-mates Aaron Ramsey and Mesut Ozil currently residing in 59% and 29% of teams, Walcott’s menace down the right and keen eye for goal certainly offers the Gunners, and Fantasy managers, something different in midfield.

Coming in at 9.1 in FPL (8.5 in the Sky Sports game and 5.5 in the Sun Dream Team), he also has back-to-back home games against Hull and Everton to follow and, while there’s no guarantee he’ll start all three, if he finds the form that racked up 14 goals and 13 assists last time out, the bandwagon will be quick to pick up pace.

Leroy Fer

As Chris Hughton reels from the news that first-choice wingers Robert Snodgrass and Anthony Pilkington are set for weeks on the sidelines, he’ll find some solace in the form of his Dutch summer recruit. Fer has now notched in each of the last two Gameweeks, with his battling abilities and driving runs from central midfield proving crucial to the Canaries’ cause.

While Scout Pick squad member Nathan Redmond offers a cut-price option at 4.6 in FPL, Fer’s consistent close-range threat suggests he may be worth the extra outlay. Priced at 5.8 in FPL, he’s fifth overall for midfielders in terms of shots inside the box – an indication that those back-to-back strikes were no statistical anomaly.

Available for 5.3 in the Sky Sports game and 1.5 in the Sun Dream Team, he’s nailed-on under Hughton and he not only has a home clash with Palace this weekend, but also squares up to Sunderland and Fulham later this month, offering the chance to maintain his climb up the FPL standings.

Dilemma in defence for my team.
    Need Reid out for..

    A. Vlaar
    B. Evans
    C. Koscielny
    D. Other 5.3 and below

Would rather an option that could be there for a while to rotate with rest of my defence. Don't like wasting transfers on defenders.

New post'd. I need to get rid of Toure. Which of the following defenders (up to 5.6) should I replace him with?

    a) Koscielny
    b) Evans
    c) Azipilicueta
    d) Flanagan (already have Migs)
    e) Lescott
    f) Other

    Aguero Suarez Remy

Gabbidon will be a good option to finance a bid midfield, but Michu's and Walcott's form prior to injury were hardly electric. Your team will read well and look nice, but you'll struggle for returns. I'd say.

I felT many people have this issue this gameweek(well so do I) so decided to bring up some 'for and against' arguments on which one to bench out of Ravel,Nolan,Barkley or Sess this week?

    RAVEL
For:In form,Playing with a lot of freedom,Fulham are shocking away from home,Nailed on
Against:West Ham cant buy a goal at the moment

    NOLAN
For:Playing out of position as the 'false nine',Fulham are shocking away from home,Nailed on
Against:West Ham cant buy a goal at the moment

    SESS:
For:West Brom scoring loads of goals at the moment,Newcastle defence isnt exactly the best
Against:Might get dropped due to poor performance last week

    BARKLEY:
For:Favourable fixture,Everton have been playing attacking football of late
Against:Stats limted to long range shooting, might not start and I already have Lukaku cover

    What is your say?

Barkley should be benched, no doubt. Nolan's situation is more tricky, but you should play him if the choice is between Nolan and Ravel. Sessegnon should be played at all costs.

Here it is. What do you guys think?

    Migs (Boruc)
    Mertasacker, Coleman, Shaw (Nastacic, John)
    Hazard, Ramsey, Ravel, Oscar (Barkley)
    Suarez, Remy, Agüero (c)

No FT available but I do have 2.4 in the bank for my midweek transfer. I'm thinking of bringing in Terry or Glen Johnson for Nastacic. I'm leaning towards Terry though as I already have Migs!

Current strike force- Rooney Remy Sturridge
    Now with a Sturridge injury:

1)Sturridge --> Negredo, Giroud, Lukaku (4 point hit)
    2)Sturridge --> Aguero, Suarez (8 point hit)
3)Play Williams vs Man city and don't take a hit

Have 2.3m in the bank, 0.6m short for aguero or suarez
is it worth using my wildcard to change two players?

4.5 could be worth the risk, but it's not as clear cut as Jenkinson @ arsenal as you've got Cissy who can fill in too. Personally I think a Liverpool spot in your team should be for someone who's nailed on, but the risk could pay off

      Coleman, Rat, Clyne

Coleman and Rat have greater chances of clean sheets. I don't think Clyne and Dawson will get clean sheets so I pick Clyne for potential attacking points.

There is always uproar among the community when one half of a premier striking due gets injured or is rested. I suppose it depends on the striking tandem but I decided to look into how the top forwards this year have fared without their partner playing alongside them for at least 60 minutes this season.

Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero (season average: 9.0) and Alvaro Negredo (season average: 4.6)
When Negredo plays over 60 minutes and Aguero doesn’t - 2 games, 2 points average
When Aguero plays over 60 minutes and Negredo doesn’t - 5 games, 9 points average
When both play over 60 minutes - 5 games, Aguero: 8.6 points average, Negredo: 6.2 points average
What the data shows is that Aguero so far this campaign has been relentless in his form and it is irrelevant as to whoever is on the pitch with him. However, Alvaro Negredo is simply a different player without Aguero, his statistics are much improved with Aguero on the pitch alongside him then without him there. It is also worth noting that Aguero does supply a lot of the assists for Negredo’s goals, which we can see in the Champion League as well as in the Prem.

Manchester United’s Robin van Persie (season average: 6.4) and Wayne Rooney (season average: 7.0)
When van Persie plays over 60 minutes and Rooney doesn’t - 2 games, 6.5 points average
When Rooney plays over 60 minutes and van Persie doesn’t - 3 games, 8 points average
When both play over 60 minutes - 7 games, van Persie: 7.14 points average, Rooney: 6.43 points average
What the data shows is in the few games that they have played without each other both do slightly better than their overall averages. When it comes down to when both play as a unit RVP plays better than he does without Rooney, but Rooney owners when seeing this information should hope that RVP doesn’t play each week because there is more than 1.5 points lost on average between games that Rooney plays without the Dutchman than with him.

Liverpool’s Luis Suarez (season average: 10.4) and Daniel Sturridge (season average: 6.4)
When Sturridge plays over 60 minutes and Suarez doesn’t - 5 games, 6.2 points average
When Suarez plays over 60 minutes and Sturridge doesn’t - 1 game, 9 points average
When both play over 60 minutes - 6 games, Sturridge: 6.66 points average, Suarez: 10.66 points average
What the data shows is that Daniel Sturridge has not really strayed from his good early season start and that he could keep that up, although his numbers will not be as high as Suarez’s by year’s end. What we also see is that Luis Suarez (although a conclusive statement cannot be made off of one single game) scores greater when he plays alongside the Englishman so far compared to last week’s derby in which he scored 9 points with Sturridge coming off of the bench to score.

There are too many factors to take into account when reviewing stats in this way. Basically all this tells us is that those players are doing well. Not knocking your effort at all, but it's just not informative.

piking up a Def: Agger or Gj?

--Agger came back from injury has played 2 last full 90 min matches.

--Risk of sako and tore i believe is more for Skrtl than Agger. Also Sako scored for france ag Ukraine good match and STIL was bench after.

--Bonus pt so far: Agger 3bp in 6 gw; GJ has 3b in 7 gw, Skrtl 2b in 10 gw,.

    --last 5 gw where they e/ played 90 min: Agger 31p avg 6.2p 40 Bps;
    GJ 28p, avg 5.6 36Bps; Skrtl 18p avg 3p 35 Bps;

Agger best stats acros the board; am i missing something as to why GJ to be chosen ahead of Agger?

seems to me its a bit like earlier in season when people perferred the hyped Ivan over terry because terry had the threat of loosing place to DLuis & cahill + ivan had more potentail of goal & assists as well as going more forward...but Terry was the one who brought in the goods via pts & bonus.
