With the frantic festive period now behind us, we can finally take stock and assess the statistics over the last few matches. Having last looked at the data in Gameweek 17, we have three sets of matches to investigate – Arsenal’s midfield, Tottenham’s attack and United and City’s frontmen are all placed under the microscope this time around:
Finally caught up on the Man U spurs game. I think Rooney is going to have to go. Best replacement for next 2-3 weeks. Have Suarez and lukaku

Thinking of this as a template for my wc in gw 24.
Marshall mannone
Coleman kosc Evans Chester Whittaker
Hazard Walcott Silva Cabaye eriksen
Suarez aguero berahino
Any thoughts?Open ControlsNice. Bit flair with 3-5-2, Berhaino not the worst bench either.
Would prefer Lallana over Cabaye tbf and Nasty over Evans but that's preferenceOpen ControlsNasty over Evans for me too at the moment
Open Controls
I like Lallana more than Cabaye
Open ControlsNot sure about Evans (or, more specifically, United) yet.
Would you rotate Beahino, Cabaye and Eriksen at all? I'm not sure Cabaye and Berahino will get enough points to start every week.
I like the core of Hazard Walcott Silva Suarez Aguero, which is something I will aim for. Not sure I can afford 3 big hitting mids without sacrificing somewhere though (perhaps you feel you have, e.g. with your 3rd Striker?)Open Controlsunless I forgo one of Aguero/Suarez, which I'm not prepared to do
Open Controls
Thanks for the thoughts everyone.
I got Cabaye early so can't afford lallana. Also I only have 5 for the defender, which rules out nasty, unless my tv goes up.
I think berahino would a bench option and play 3-5-2Open Controls
Playing the idea of having RVP Suarez Aguero
Boruc Davis
Kosc Coleman Chester Ward Demel
Walcott Hazard Lallana Ki Mutch
RVP Suarez Aguero
Chester - Ward : Decent rotation on a budget
Demel : Good post WC fixtures that can be played every week
Ki Mutch : SUN/CAR rotation.
Can be 3-4-3 with Mutch / Ki or 4-3-3 with Chester / Ward / Demel depending on fixtures.
Would trust odds on CS higher than Ki / Mutch scoring though.
Thoughts?
Of course that could be the template when Falcao transfers to Chelsea as I can see his price is similar to RVP later on.Open ControlsIs it worth hanging on Burner in WC or swap for Chester? Seems like Hull are better defensively no?
Open Controlsand Lukaka JRod for me.
Although if Lukaka keeps blanking and Ade scoring then you know what to doOpen ControlsYeah I am on Lukaka and JRod for now. I am worried about Car defensive stats. Seems like they are giving away way too many chances. I could bring Marshal later on

If Aguero is fit by the end of this month, who will be going SAR?
Or is it time to drop Rooney...Open ControlsSAA for me unless someone comes up in transfers. Suarez, Ade,Aguero
Open ControlsI'm looking at that frontline as well!
Unless better options come along of courseOpen Controls
Imo Rooney goes, plays second fiddle to Welbeck, RVP and even Hernandez! He's kinda like Yaya this year, amazing score but in each match he's incredibly deep and never looks like getting anything

Ade, Lukaku, Rodriquez? Pick 2 for the WC.
Open ControlsLallana and Ade
Lallana and Rodriquez

Eriksen and Ade
Which combo do you prefer and why? Thanks. And it is WC pickOpen ControlsNumber one, spreads your bets a bit, rate Lallana over Eriksen right now, and think Ade is better than Rod.
Open ControlsLall & Ade:
Lall is Soton' key player and creates a lot + is in good form, Ade is in amazing form and for 3 weeks is a very good punt IMOOpen ControlsThanks both. My rival who chases me has Eriksen and I kind a like Eriksen punt myself

I wonder if I should have played my other wildcard earlier in the season.
Not sure if the DGWs are going to happen this year. I mean, shouldn't we already had the bad weather/postponements by now?Open ControlsD GW Will happen. Relax
Open Controlspretty sure due to the cups there will always be at least 1 DGW each season.
Open ControlsFA Cup final too. At least 2 DGW per season as I remember
Open Controls
The fa cup causes the dgws. There is definitely going to be a cup this year
Open ControlsTis a long long winter in England.
Open ControlsI have held WC too. Double gameweeks will happen once the fa cup , euro and weather all kick in. These are all other good reasons yo hold Jan wc until late as possible too as it can set you up nicely into next part of season knowing the fixture congestion
Open ControlsWant some cheese with that........

There's been much discussion about G.K. pairings but I've seen mention of what I am considering. What about these for a G.K. pairing Cardiff + Villa?
Marshall 4.7 + Guzan 5.1 = 9.8
Gives from GW 23 (for those WC later) - WBA, NOR, WHM, AVL, HULL, NOR, FUL, eve, STK, wba, CPL, cpl, STK, sun, HUL, CHE .
Worth considering I think?Open ControlsThere's been much discussion about G.K. pairings but I've NOT seen mention of what I am considering. What about these for a G.K. pairing Cardiff + Villa?

Thanks all for replies on last page on
Selling Mert (5.5) and buying Kos (5.5 after cup game) and taking .5 with further increases on Kos inevitable IMO ,
I still can't make up my mind 🙁
Any further comments/thoughts would be much appreciated thanks.Open ControlsI think this move will cost you points long term. TV is like a drug on here which makes people ignore common sense.

Assuming Aguero is back by gw24 are the Yaya owners still planning on keeping him when they WC? Yaya has to be the biggest luck-box I've ever seen and is due for some massive regression.

Coloccini and Debuchy are out. I even considered captaining Negredo because of this (I won't)

Aguero
Yaya/Silva
Zaba/Bad K

Morning Guys,
Anybody considering Willian as an option in their WIldcard?
7.5m, less than 5k owners, and seems to have worked his way into the team more often than not.
He also becomes more appealing if Mata and De Bruyne move on in January, reducing his competition.
Thoughts?Open ControlsWish he was nailed on, in that case he'd be one to consider.
Open ControlsI think he will become more prominent in the team as the season progresses.
As I say, he's now "settled in", and direct competition for his position could be moving on.
I accept he isn't nailed on though, but if he could become secure for say 90% of starts it would be a different story at 7.5m.Open ControlsLike the idea. Could be good, Hazard for me as Chelsea cover so far, might get a defender as well on WC.
Open Controls
was thinking about him as a pre WC punt. Would say he's most nailed on for the third attacking midfield spot in chelseas line up. See last gameweek when he came on and changed the game. Would get Oscar or Hazard if you can manage it though...
Open Controls
Cabaye : PSG thinking of a £22m bid for him. Would look interesting to see

nasty is a better pickOpen ControlsIsn't Nasty a rotation risk with Demichelis around?
Open Controls
I have , whose to say Kos won't turn that around he did miss out with Susp/injury and if he had played in all he wouldn't be too far off Mert.
Open ControlsKosc been injured for week, If both had played I think points would be very similar with meet slightly ahead on attacking returns.
At this stage Kosc is very good value. But will beco e premium very quickly.Open ControlsHistorically the two are very similar players when we look deeper into their underlying statistics, especially on the attacking front.
Koscielny's early red card & subsequent injuries have undoubtedly affected his point total.
Never simply 'look at the points' as it doesn't always tell the whole story mate.Open ControlsWell considering minutes-wise merte has played less than 2 games more, yet has an extra 5 bonus points, 2 goals and an assist, I think you could quite safely conclude he is the better option 'money no object' ...
Open ControlsMate, I'm digging back over the past 2 years here, not just looking at the last 18 games.
When we compare the two players 'historically' we find they are quite similar.
This is an opinion, I'm looking at their statistics.
Now, of course the player who has been injury & red card free will have produced more points. That's a given...
However, I'm looking into overall threat on goal & general involvement in play not just who managed to convert a few more of their chances earlier this year.
So in the end, I say again... they are similar players.
Therefore, why not save a buck or two & go with the Frenchmen?Open Controls
A for me. Should've scored a goal or two last game. Love his attacking threat.

Thinking of using my WC early and have a team a bit different from my rivals, RMT please
Kelvin Davis, Mannone
Koscielny, Turner, Chester, Ward Baker
Silva, Ward-Prowse, Januzaj, Walcott, Hazard
van Persie, Soldado, Suárez
Not happy with WP, any suggestion?Open ControlsWould it be worth a hit to be able to play Silva (new) over JWP (WBA) or Gabbidon (tot)
Open ControlsI wouldn't take hit in jan as too many are playing Wc now ,
It's all about points now , tho I don't like your options with the other 2 ,
1pt/0pt .Open Controlsneither do I
I've been playing 4 at the back but three of my defenders have rough fixtures this week so it's not ideal
expect 1-2 points from each whereas silva could easily get an assist .... but i would be counting on the assist for it to be worth itOpen ControlsIt may easily happen - no Collo/no Deb and I fancy City to score at least 3 ,
I have Silva btw and I also have made 27 transfers so far so work out the hits !
😉Open Controls
Unless there is any spectacular transfer activity, I'm looking to do this...
WC OUT: Krul, Shaw, Burner, Cabaye, Sterling, Negredo, Rooney.
IN: Sperioni, Zaba, Chester, Eriksen, Januzaj, Aguero Adebayor.
Leaving me with a core of Suarez Hazard Yaya Walcott Coleman.
Hypothetically this looks good right? 😉Open ControlsDoes it have to be Chester over Burner because of cash? I'm very wary of Chester - great price and Hull have kept a useful number of cleanies - but these have mostly been at home and their home fixtures for the rest of the season are tougher than any other team. If he's just a planned benchwarmer then it's ok, but if you're rotating your defenders you will probably need you to focus on the other four.
Open ControlsPasq please your thoughts on this. I was all set on Chester now you are making me change my mind. Are Chester fixtures that bad? Hmmm...
Open ControlsThey're not great, Daniel. Burner will remain a better option but it all depends if you really need the spare 0.2 or so.
Open Controls
Chester by a mile over B. Turner.
Cardiff is tied with Fulham for shots conceded this year at a whopping 18.5 per game.
By contrast, Hull only concedes 13.5 per so they are clearly the superior defensive side.Open ControlsBut they played against awful teams. Now all the top teams are coming to Hull
Open ControlsDaniel's right, Kyle. I don't disagree that Hull have, up until now, been defensively superior. But that's had a lot to do with the fixtures and you could reasonably expect the reverse to happen over the rest of the season.
Open ControlsGentlemen, look at the Season Ticker from GW21 through to GW38.
Hull has the 3rd easiest defensive run of fixtures on the whole.
Conversely, Cardiff is a terrible defensive side as they've conceded a league worst 20.5 shots per game on the road & 16 at home.
For comparison sake, Hull only give up 15.5 away & 11.5 at home.
Now, let's put this all in perspective... Hull's 13.5 shots per game put them on par with Liverpool, Crystal Palace, WBA & Newcastle defensively speaking.
So, perhaps we don't blindly play the Tigers only at home but, recognize that they are in fact, a 'decent' defensive side & use them like any other when the fixtures warrant.
Cool?Open ControlsInteresting. But how are you getting 3rd best defence? If I sort the ticker on defensive clean sheets Cardiff come out 7th best and Hull 13th best.
Open ControlsYes answer to Pasq question too. I was all set on Burner to Chester on my WC but Pasq reasons are good, so I changed my mind.
Open ControlsSorry man... Maybe I made a mistake with the GWs? (It's 5:30am here in Toronto)
Anyway, let's not lose sight of what's important...
I've presented a great case for Hull as a decent defensive side. Right?
Further, I've shown Cardiff to be one of the worst defensive sides thus far.
So in the end, if you'd like to take B. Turner for .3mil more than Chester I feel you're making a mistake.
If all this doesn't sway you then what else can I say?
Finally, we're effing geeks. Honestly, spending this much time discussing 5th defender for our Jan WC? We need our collective heads checked! 🙂Open Controls
Till now yes, but we talk about future? Did u see Hull home games till the end?
11 Jan 12:45 Gameweek 21 Chelsea (H)

Not even a competition IMO. Zing 😛 🙂Open ControlsMate, we aren't robots we don't HAVE to only field players when they're at home. In fact, a lot of teams tighten up on the road, especially when fighting to avoid relegation in the second half of the season.
Granted, Hull do have some tough home fixtures but, you failed to mention away games to SUN, CAR, WHM, STK, FUL & AVL that I'd be thrilled to have my 5th defender step up & play in if need be.
In the end, Hull are a better defensive side & Chester is cheaper than B. Turner. What else can I say?
Actually nothing. If this didn't sway you then I'm out! 🙂Open ControlsCheers mate great debate. Time will tell. I prefer to play my uber cheap defenders at home. Will repost this it is worth a upvote and a green IMO.
Cheers.Open Controls
current line up:
Scz-Marshall
Terry-Mert-Coleman(Ward-Brayford)
Yaya-Hazard-Whittingham-Barkley(Shelvey)
Suarez-Lukaku-Rooney
Looking to trade out yaya for someone else, who is better for 9.9? Im thinking Walcott?Open ControlsWhat are Rooney owners doing? Think I may take a hit & upgrade Ravel with the change.
