Our third Members article of the week takes the usual look at the Captaincy options ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. We analyse the stats of Robin Van Persie, Luis Suarez and Eden Hazard –the top three in this week’s Captain Poll – and also assess a couple of in-form alternatives, as well as rolling out our usual “Unsensible” armband alternative, for those willing to roll the dice:
Just read scout tweets.
So Negredo & Jovetic upfront and Dzeko benched?Open ControlsAny news on this Adebayor injury? Might get Lambert or JRog in for him.
Open ControlsSanti. Scored at Anfield last season and Liverpool are playing with their reserve back four. Could be a goal fest.
Open ControlsCarzorla for me, even though I am considering benching him for Januzaj.

Open ControlsAny United fans a bit worried with the way Moyes has gone about his transfer deals?
I mean United are having a rough aul time conceding left, right and centre. So what does he do? Spends 37m on Mata. Don't get me wrong, Mata is a fantastic player but does Man United NEED him? I dont think so anyway. The problem isn't scoring/ creating goals its conceding them.
That 37m could have easily bought a world class CB like Hummels, Subotic, Garay or maybe even Pique? Furthermore you could have enough funds left over to bring in a spare full back if needed or CM.
United should have made the most of the window and offloaded bench fodder in order to strengthen where it matters. People say "Oh Moyes is waiting til the Summer to start fresh". What if it's too late then? What if United have no European advantages and cannot attract big names anymore like Liverpool in recent years? Rio should have gone in January along with Nani, Anderson and Cleverly permanently. These players are just surplus and are more of a hindrance to the team than anything.
Thoughts?Open ControlsThey need a leader. Someone like Mertersaker.
Open ControlsPersonally i'm worried that they'll get their act together, which they inevitable will, and become a force again. Otherwise i'd be over the moon to see them slip into obscurity.
Open Controlsthe problem is that no team will sell quality first team players in the middle of the season. As he was never going to get them, he couldn't sell any of our crap players as we would be left short.
Open ControlsFrom last article:
Subotic and Garay are not world class.
37m for any of those players would be overpaying, whereas its the going rate for Mata. Pique won't happen, Hummels has no reason to leave when Dortmund are still in the Champions League (making him ineligible for United anyway) and during a WC year where he wants to be certain of gametime. It's more likely all round that they would bid for him in the summer and get him for 20-25mOpen ControlsI didn't mean 37m for one of those CBs I meant with that money you could have gotten a CB AND a centre mid or new full back instead of a player that is not needed.
And I don't know how people can be so sure about United getting big players in the summer if they fail to qualify for Europe? Why would Hummels leave for United in the summer if they fail to qualify for Europe?Open ControlsB.Dort would never let a key player such as Hummels leave in the middle of the season, as it would disrupt their team.
Utd are one of the greatest teams, in terms of marketing worldwide and history. They could use that to their advantage.Open ControlsOk granted I understand players like Hummels wouldn't leave in January but even earlier in the season he could have bought a new CB instead of panic buying Fellaini.
As much as a big club they are I'm not so sure they could attract players like Hummels who would be guaranteed Champion's League football. United might offer more money but good players want to play at the highest level. Look at Liverpool, they could offer a player a great wage but lost out because of their lack of European participation.
Just think Moyes with a big transfer budget is like a fish out of water. With Everton he could get the most for his buck, but with all that cash and freedom I just think he's struggling to spot a sensible signingOpen Controls
And apparently Vidic has expressed his will in leaving the club, so that will add further deficit in defence, not that he is the player he once was but still an authority.
Open ControlsVidic is leaving, but his time has come, it is time for him to leave.
Open Controls
It's difficult to know what kind of funds were available to him. It's also supposed to be a lot harder to buy players in January so he might have had to settle for second best or pay over the odds for quality players. United have enough deadwood as it is so getting the right player is pivotal. I think Mata is a great signing. Similar to Ozil at Arsenal, his signing has lifted the mood around the club and I'm sure Moyes hopes that translates into results. They really needed another playmaker alongside Rooney and Mata is one of the best in the league.
Open ControlsWell he spent £64mil on two players put it that way.
Fellaini for £27m and Mata for £37m.
That's a lot of money to neglect on defence. No doubt Mata is great, but I don't see him as essential to a United side that can score with simply Rooney and RVP linking each other up. I understand that a lot of clubs don't let players go in January but he could have gotten someone in the earlier window instead of panic spending £27mil on FellainiOpen ControlsI agree with the panic buying but that's 1 bad and one good transfer. Compare that to someone like Rodgers:
Good = Sturridge, maybe Sakho (paid a lot for him) and Ilori (good prospect at least) And Sissokho (or however you spell it).
Dodgy: Aspas, Allen, Coutinho (a few good months granted followed by his typical drop in form), Moses, Sahin, Toure (even on free he has cost points), Mignolet (as far as I'm concerned this was a poor buy), Borini have I missed any?
Point is Rodgers isn't getting this question asked of his policy when a lot of his bus have been rather poor. Too early to judge with Moyes.Open ControlsBut the thing is Rodgers is getting the results despite his bad signings. Liverpool aren't a title-contending team, not with the team they have despite how good they're playing.
United on the other hand have high expectations from fans and the board. Ferguson in charge would have done wonders with £64mil. I know we shouldn't be comparing the two of them, but if Moyes wants to manage a title-contending team I think the money given to him should have been used to but at minimum a centre back. Defence should be priorityOpen Controls
Thoughts are that, while in theory you are right he is not what we need, signing the players you mentioned is very difficult half way through the season. It is hard to sign a world class player in January as they usually are being used at their team, Mata was a rare exception and I'm delighted they swooped for him.
Second, as a Dortmund fan, I can tell you that both Hummwls and Subotic have had a lot of injury issues this season, in fact Dortmund in general have had a lot of issues with injuries so they 100% would not have swapped to United in January. As well as this Dortmund want to try as hard as possible to hang onto some of their best players, they wouldn't sell cheaply.
Pique would not have come either.
I agree with Moyes' mentality, he is giving the current crop the chance to prove their worth.
As for the CL, it didn't bother Mata and in reality there are many top class players who would forego a season of CL for the chance to become a Kerry component of a league winning team. If CL was so important for players then the likes of the City players, who always get knocked out early on, would be leaving for a club with a better CL record. I'm not saying it isn't important but people put far too much emphasis on it. Success starts with league strength, the rest will follow.Open Controls
Puncheon vs Miralles is causing me a headache. May opt to play them both over Ozil, crazy? Ozil has looked in affective last few games
Open ControlsI was looking to get Dzeko in - with the possible "injury" talk and Negredo not being fully fit recently, is Jovetic going to get a proper run?
Open ControlsDepends what you call a proper run. Very good chance he'll start tomorrow at least

I think many will have been waiting for this tommy! Well non rvp owners at least

I really think this article could switch place time wise with the Team News article. It always seems a little fruitless as so many of the pressers are mid afternoon.
Open ControlsJonty replied on this topic a few weeks ago: http://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/comment/6564897
Open ControlsI have to say I disagree with the logic there. FFS is constantly posting twitter updates which appear on the homepage of the site, so posting the article later would hardly make you the last to break the news. The purpose of the Team News article, for me, seems to be to have a summary of the news and press conferences and to have that released hours before teams like City release team info doesn't seem the best way to do it. Those are my thoughts anyway.

Afternoon everyone.
Just the one dilemma for me this week, though it's a tricky one.
Who to play - Coleman/Koscielny or Eriksen?
Team is:
Speroni (Davis)
Azpilicueta Evra (Koscielny/Coleman/Ward)
Hazrd Mata Lallana Yaya (Eriksen)
Suarez J Rod (Mason)Open ControlsInteresting. I've doubled up on Palace defence before, but I can't say I was considering it this week. Thanks for the reply.
Open Controls
So Haz(C)? What does the article say?
Open ControlsGuys plese Rate My Team.. for Gameweek 25. Currently top of my Mini League.. Thanks

Dzeko - Suarez- Van persie(C)
Bench- Bacuna- Whittaker- Brayford..Open ControlsBloody hell. All I wanted today is to get a City striker who would play most of the next 3 games. Not convinced by Jovetic yet.
Does Negredo look like he really wont start?Open ControlsDzeko apparently got some kind of ankle problem.
Negredo apparently not fully fit yet.
Jovetic is probably lacking some match fitness.
Basically its anyones guess. All of them should get some minutes over the next 3 and hopefully enough to score some points. Ive already got Dzeko, but if i didnt I wouldnt be getting him in now.Open ControlsI had my heart set on Dzeko. Now Negredo seems to have edged it as there was no mention of the lad in a negative light in any of Pellegrini's quotes.
Open Controls
Negredo is almost certain to start. He needs minutes more than anything. He's also most likely to start 3/3 imo.
Neg and Jovetic tomorrow I reckonOpen Controls

Please offer some kind advice. Much thanks as always.Open ControlsDo we think Januzaj will start? He is my 5th mid, but have a feeling he could do well this weekend.
