Jose Mourinho has confirmed John Terry will remain on the sidelines with the muscle problem that forced him to miss Saturday’s win over Newcastle. The Chelsea boss expects his skipper to return in time for the weekend FA Cup clash with City, though Fernando Torres has recovered from a knee problem and returns to the squad to face West Brom this evening.
Pepe Mel has admitted Billy Jones is a doubt for West Brom due to a knee problem, with Steven Reid set to deputise at right-back if he fails to make it. The Baggies boss also conceded he may hand new boy Thievy Bifouma a start after he climbed off the bench to score against Palace in Saturday, though Jonas Olsson, Nicolas Anelka and Stephane Sessegnon all remain on the sidelines.
Kevin Nolan has recovered from the groin problem that forced him off midway through the second-half against Villa. Mohamed Diame and Joe Cole are both available for the Hammers home clash against Norwich, though Ravel Morrison has been unable to train due to an ongoing groin problem, Sam Allardyce has revealed.
Robert Snodgrass will require a late fitness test for the Canaries. The Scot missed the weekend draw against City with a groin injury and “has a chance”, according to his manager, who will be without Jonas Gutierrez and Ryan Bennett. Michael Turner is back running after a hamstring injury but is “a number of weeks” away.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hopes to have Craig Noone and Kevin Theophile-Catherine available for Cardiff’s clash with Villa. The latter missed out with a knee complain at the weekend, whilst Noone failed to come off the bench after sustaining a muscle strain. Craig Bellamy faces a likely three-match ban after the FA charged him with violent conduct for an incident with Swansea’s Jonathan de Guzman at the weekend.
Steve Bruce has conceded Liam Rosenior is “extremely doubtful” for Hull’s clash with Southampton after picking up a hamstring problem at the weekend. The Tigers boss went on to say he may shift Ahmed Elmohamady or Paul McShane to right-back if Rosenior fails to make it.
Mathieu Debuchy is ruled out of Newcastle’s home game against Spurs with the calf complaint that forced him off at Chelsea on Saturday. Alan Pardew is still without Cheick Tiote and Fabricio Coloccini, though is optimistic on a return for Papiss Cisse.
Garry Monk has revealed Michu has missed training due to a swollen ankle but is still hopeful the Spaniard will play some part against Stoke. The Swans boss also expects Jonjo Shelvey to return to action shortly as he continues his comeback from a hamstring problem.
