Fantasy Football Scout are pleased to announce two new Fantasy Premier League cup competitions which are set to take place over the season run-in. First of all, we roll out the ninth instalment of our open-to-all cup competition, sponsored by Paddy Power. This is your chance to join our previous winners – donnellyc, our very own Jonty, Goonerdave, Ninja_Fit_Saints, sleepingmaster, Mch, Wild Rover and reigning champion, Tdubb05, in our hall of fame.

We’ve also opened entry for the fourth instalment of the Fantasy Football Scout Members Cup, as Acquafresca looks to defend his title. Fuzzy Dunlop and Kippax Kikkers were our other previous winners of this tournament.

If you’re familiar with our competitions you can get your entries in right now via the links below. If you’re new to all this, read on for an FAQ on the competitions.

Enter the Paddy Power IX Cup via the entry form here.

Members can also enter the Members Cup IV via this entry form.

How do the cup competitions work?

Our cup competitions are very similar to the Fantasy Premier League’s Fantasy Cup game. Entrants who qualify for the first round will be randomly drawn against each other and the winner of the tie is whoever has the highest score from that Gameweek, minus points spent on transfers (like in the original game and in head-to-head scores). In the event of a tie, the manager highest in the overall standings will progress.

When do they start?

The qualifying rounds for both cups will take place in Gameweek 27 but you can enter after the Gameweek is played out. All entries received before Monday February 24 will be entered into the qualifying rounds. In the Paddy Power XI cup competition we will have 1024 qualifiers for the first round – those 1016 (plus eight previous winners who will earn a bye, if entered) with the top scores in Gameweek 27 will progress to the first round proper to be played in Gameweek 28. Again, FPL standing will decide who progresses in the event of tied positions. The same rules apply in the Members Cup, although we will restrict this to 512 teams in the first round.

How do I enter?

You can enter the Paddy Power IX Cup via the entry form here.
Members can also enter the Members Cup IV via this entry form.

In both cases you will be sent a confirmation email to verify your entry and you’ll be asked to confirm your FPL team id at the point of entry – please be sure to click the link to verify that your team is correct before confirming.

You can check that you are entered the Paddy Power IX Cup via this list and this list for the Members Cup.

When will I find out if I’ve qualified?

Results from the qualifying rounds of both cups will be published on or around Tuesday February 25 and then weekly from that point on.

What is the Gameweek Schedule?

These Cup competitions will be played out according to the following Gameweek schedule

Paddy Power Cup XI Round Dates

  • Qualifying – Gameweek 27
  • Round 1 – 1024 teams – Gameweek 28
  • Gameweek 29 Skipped Due to Potential Blanks
  • Round 2 – 512 teams – Gameweek 30
  • Round 3 – 256 teams – Gameweek 31
  • Round 4 – 128 teams – Gameweek 32
  • Round 5 – 64 teams – Gameweek 33
  • Round 6 – 32 teams – Gameweek 34
  • Round 7 – 16 teams – Gameweek 35
  • Quarter-Final – 8 teams – Gameweek 36
  • Semi-Finals – 4 teams – Gameweek 37
  • Final – 2 teams – Gameweek 38

FFS Members Cup Round Dates

  • Qualifying – Gameweek 27
  • Round 1 – 512 teams – Gameweek 28
  • Gameweek 29 Skipped Due to Potential Blanks
  • Round 2 – 256 teams – Gameweek 30
  • Round 4 – 128 teams – Gameweek 31
  • Round 5 – 64 teams – Gameweek 32
  • Round 6 – 32 teams – Gameweek 33
  • Round 7 – 16 teams – Gameweek 34
  • Quarter-Final – 8 teams – Gameweek 35
  • Semi-Finals – 4 teams – Gameweek 36
  • Final – 2 teams – Gameweek 37

When are the fixtures released?

The fixture list for each round of both cups will be published a day or two before each Gameweek deadline.

Are there prizes?

Prizes will be announced in a follow up article next week.

Do I have to enter if I’m previous winner?

Yes, because your FPL team ID will have changed, we will need to record you entry again. As a previous winner, you will be given a bye to the first round proper.

Do I need to be registered with Fantasy Football Scout?

We ask you to supply a FFS username so we can feature you, as a member of our community, in any articles associated with the tournament. Ideally, you will already have a username with us but this is not essential to enter (although it is for the Members Cup) – you must, however, supply a username for the purpose of the tournament so you can be identified in articles. You must not change this username throughout the course of the tournament, should you do so without permission, or should you enter multiple teams or if your FFS account comes under moderation for any reason, we reserve the right to remove you from a tournament.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I don't care for England or international football but you might be interested to know Roy Hodgson has just ruled out a World Cup return for John Terry - he had to go to Rio. He has proven again that he is the best defender in the Premier League and certainly the best that England boasts.

I'm a Liverpool fan and I'd leave out Gerrard before Terry. Terry has been the best defender in England for over 10 years, and he still is.

I have read the article and the way I interpret it is that Roy is saying that while Terry is retired he wont be picked.

If Terry comes out and says he is available for selection he could be picked.

Basically Roy has put the ball in JTs court which is probably sensible on his part.

If he were picking the best 2 english centre backs, JT would be one of them for sure.

I just saw the breaking news headline on SSN... "Roy Hodgson rules out John Terry return to international football"

        Sad if true.

          Actual quotes

"John has retired and as far as I am concerned that is the situation,"
"We have got along without him for the whole of the qualification and a few friendlies as well so we will have to get along without him in the future."

If JT says he is available for selection Roy could still pick him. Not sure how the FA would fee about that, but that would make his return even sweeter imo.

You could perceive that first sentence a couple of ways, IMO. Hodgson could have meant that is the situation for him, i.e. JT is retired to me.

That's England's slim hopes in Rio dwindled even further, then.

Although if they beat Swans in the FA cup they'll blank in 29.

I did Clyne -> Collins for a hit 3 weeks ago as I wasn't able to field 11.
      Since then - 7,7,15.
And people are saying that hits for defenders is nuts..

With what I am seeing on Sky and predictions that winds of up to 108MPH to hit the NW by this evening - Seems a certainty that games in that area will be postponed. From an FPL perspective would be great ( no players in those games) . But for folk in those areas - batten down the hatches and stay safe . PM involved , gotta be serious sh.t then ?
