Maybe the weather was  to blame. For the first time in eight Gameweeks, there were no red cards flashed by referees as Tuesday and Wednesday’s eight fixtures found Premier League players on their best behaviour. For a certain Sunderland defender, however, the cancellation of a midweek trip to the Etihad has ensured he remains on the naughty step for a little bit longer:

Wes Brown was due to serve the first of a two-match ban against City on Tuesday but, after the Manchester wind forced the game’s cancellation, he will now miss the Gameweek 27 trip to Arsenal, in addition to this weekend’s FA Cup clash against Southampton. Given that the Black Cats’ Gameweek 28 game against West Brom has also been postponed due to their Capital One Cup final duties, this means Brown won’t be available for league duties until March 10 – when Gus Poyet’s side roll up to Anfield.

Cardiff’s Craig Bellamy will serve the second of a three-match ban for violent conduct this weekend. The Welshman decided against appealing the FA’s retrospective charge following an incident with Jonathan de Guzman in last weekend’s loss at Swansea – he will miss the FA Cup clash against holders Wigan and a home match with Hull before returning for the Gameweek 28 trip to Tottenham. Andy Carroll will serve the last of his three-match ban against Southampton when league duties recommence and will return for the Hammers’ trip to Everton on March 1.

The trio are the only players currently serving suspensions after Allan McGregor, Loic Remy and Mathieu Flamini all completed the last of their respective three-match bans during the week. McGregor is expected to take his place between the sticks for Hull’s trip to Cardiff next time around as Steve Bruce’s side go in search of a second successive away clean sheet.

Remy’s return to the Newcastle first XI will be a welcome relief for Alan Pardew. The Frenchman will surely be installed up top at home to Aston Villa as the Magpies manager attempts to arrest an alarming run of form which has seen his side fail to score in seven of the last eight league matches.

Flamini’s availability for Arsenal’s clash with Sunderland gives Arsene Wenger the option of moving Jack Wilshere into an advanced berth on the flank after being stationed in the double-pivot alongside Mikel Arteta in each of the last two Gameweeks.

On this week’s Suspension Tightrope, we now have six players just a couple of cautions away from a ban. West Brom’s Claudio Yacob is our newest arrival after picking up a booking in Tuesday’s home draw against Chelsea – he joins Fabian Delph, Marouane Chamakh, Wayne Rooney, Jon Walters and Baggies team-mate Jonas Olsson on eight yellow cards. Villa, Chelsea and West Brom are the most represented teams on the newly-updated Tightrope – all have three players with at least seven cautions to their name thus far.

              you still have your WC?

100 points is not insurmountable even if the answer is no.

But if you have a hight TV and a wildcard you can do it.

If you can average 9 points more per GW from now until the end and be clever/lucky with the DGW's you can win!

              Good luck!!!

To be fair he's had 8 yellows for a couple of weeks now. Perhaps unsurprisingly, he seems to get frustrated - and booked - when United lose (3 of his last 4 yellows are in losses, Stoke, Spurs, Everton).

I struggle to understand these guys who take their shirts off and incur the inevitable yellow. Guess it was late in the game, so no real risk of him getting a red for another aggression. Just don't get it though. So moronic. Tradition-smition. Plus, if you're going to take it off, don't have some weird looking tight undershirt thingy on. Be a man and bare the brawn, for crying out loud.

Pretty much. Not sure it quite deems a yellow. I have an even bigger issue with guys in the crowd that watch sporting events with their shirts off. C'mon now. Like I want some dude's exposed pits within my immediate radius. It's so played out anyways, and just all around gross on most occasions. The worst are the doofuses who are half naked when it's cold out.

Ade has proven he can get multiple goals in a game, something Studge is yet to do, and he's cheaper..
See where you're coming from but feel like it would be mental to miss the opportunity to get on SAS in, especially before a plum home tie. Don't think I would have the same confidence in Ade to give him the armband..

Whisper it, I'm thinking of losing Suarez. What's stopping me:
    1) good immediate fixtures (flat track bully)
    2) Liverpool home fixtures, 2nd only to City
    3) the Norwich Game.

I'd really want Aguero for this part of the season, think Pelligrini will start him most games to win the league.

My total value is not anywhere near good enough to afford that front 3 (even though I have 2 of them)
I can't see myself losing Mata, Hazard and Silva in the midfield, and it would mean scrimping heavily at the back.

If you have some points to make up in your respective leagues and will have Sturridge for pool cover then it's not the worst idea in the world. A couple more 2-5pt'ers by Suarez after you've binned him could improve your rank dramatically. However if he puts in a 25pt haul and everyone's given him the armband, you're in trouble.

Ok he wasn't the best in last couple of GWs FPL wise but on paper he has been brilliant. He is the top striker with most points also. Just keep that in mind when you get rid of him. Getting Sturridge Aguero and Suarez is the best bet. I will be aiming to achieve that frontline anyway

I can just about afford it, but careful planning for the doubles is going to be the way for me. Its a shame, Erikson is losing owners rapidly (again, for the second time I've owned him) and it might stop me being able to afford the right players for the double.

    For potential Ade buyers, here's the the point returns after every double figure haul this season;

    GW17 - Southampton (A) = 13pts
    GW18 - West Brom (H) = 2pts

    GW22 - Swansea (A) = 13pts
    GW23 - Man City (H) = 2pts
    GW24 - Hull (A) = 2pts

That's ridiculous... Who cares what his score was?

Well, a players score is one tiny metric by which we measure.

Also, looking at his fixtures can you fault him for not scoring when Tottenham went down to 10 men vs. City or played away to Hull?

Again, this is too narrow a view to judge if we should transfer in a player.

Ade's best scores have come away from home, and the games following his big hauls are at home, whereas the Norwich game is also away.

Also got a potential Europa league away game in the Ukraine three days before the Norwich game, so if he's in the squad for that he could conceivably play. His fixtures do look very encouraging though, but I wouldn't be bringing him in yet

I'd love to keep (considering his next two fixtures) and the alternative for me is Mirallas, problem is that Erikson is dropping massively, and Mirallas has the matter of Chelsea to play against.

Edging towards keep, hoping he starts against Norwich, save the transfer. Especially when the Everton/palace doubt is announced.
