Having announced a couple of new cup competitions last week, we thought we’d give you another heads-up as the weekend’s deadline edges closer. Not only do we have the ninth instalment of our open-to-all cup competition, as sponsored by Paddy Power, we also have the Fantasy Football Scout Members Cup IV up and running over the season run-in:

If you’re familiar with our competitions you can get your entries in right now via the links below. If you’re new to all this, read on for an FAQ on the competitions.

Enter the Paddy Power IX Cup via the entry form here.

Members can also enter the Members Cup IV via this entry form.

Are there prizes?

As mentioned, Paddy are supplying the competition with some great prizes and, once again, we’re supplementing these with Amazon Vouchers. The prizes break down for the Fantasy Football Scout Cup IX is as follows:

Winner – £100 worth of free bets. £100 Amazon Voucher
Runner-up – £50 worth of free bets. £50 Amazon Voucher
3rd Place – £50 worth of free bets. £25 Amazon Voucher

In addition, the top scoring manager from each round will win a £25 free bet from Paddy Power on supply of their Paddy Power username.

For the Fantasy Football Scout Members Cup IV, the prizes are:

Winner – £200 Amazon voucher.
Runner-up – £100 Amazon voucher

How do the cup competitions work?

Our cup competitions are very similar to the Fantasy Premier League’s (FPL) Fantasy Cup game. Entrants who qualify for the first round will be randomly drawn against each other and the winner of the tie is whoever has the highest score from that Gameweek, minus points spent on transfers (like in the original game and in head-to-head scores). In the event of a tie, the manager highest in the overall standings will progress.

When do they start?

The qualifying rounds for both cups will take place in Gameweek 27 but you can enter after the Gameweek is played out. All entries received before Monday February 24 will be entered into the qualifying rounds. In the Paddy Power XI cup competition we will have 1024 qualifiers for the first round – those 1016 (plus eight previous winners who will earn a bye, if entered) with the top scores in Gameweek 27 will progress to the first round proper to be played in Gameweek 28. Again, FPL standing will decide who progresses in the event of tied positions. The same rules apply in the Members Cup, although we will restrict this to 512 teams in the first round.

How do I enter?

You can enter the Paddy Power IX Cup via the entry form here.

Members can also enter the Members Cup IV via this entry form.

In both cases you will be sent a confirmation email to verify your entry and you’ll be asked to confirm your FPL team id at the point of entry – please be sure to click the link to verify that your team is correct before confirming.

You can check that you are entered the Paddy Power IX Cup via this list and this list for the Members Cup.

When will I find out if I’ve qualified?

Results from the qualifying rounds of both cups will be published on or around Tuesday February 25 and then weekly from that point on.

What is the Gameweek Schedule?

These Cup competitions will be played out according to the following Gameweek schedule

Paddy Power Cup XI Round Dates

  • Qualifying – Gameweek 27
  • Round 1 – 1024 teams – Gameweek 28
  • Gameweek 29 Skipped Due to Potential Blanks

  • Quarter-Final – 8 teams – Gameweek 35
  • Semi-Finals – 4 teams – Gameweek 36
  • Final – 2 teams – Gameweek 37

When are the fixtures released?

The fixture list for each round of both cups will be published a day or two before each Gameweek deadline.

Do I have to enter if I’m previous winner?

Yes, because your FPL team ID will have changed, we will need to record you entry again. As a previous winner, you will be given a bye to the first round proper.

Do I need to be registered with Fantasy Football Scout?

We ask you to supply a FFS username so we can feature you, as a member of our community, in any articles associated with the tournament. Ideally, you will already have a username with us but this is not essential to enter (although it is for the Members Cup) – you must, however, supply a username for the purpose of the tournament so you can be identified in articles. You must not change this username throughout the course of the tournament, should you do so without permission, or should you enter multiple teams or if your FFS account comes under moderation for any reason, we reserve the right to remove you from a tournament.

I wish FPL Towers removed dead teams if they are inactive after a set period of time and this in turn meant the players were 'transferred out'. People like Aguero/RVP/Ramsey could've dropped at a more reasonable rate then.

Nearly 1 million used the jan WC, all active obviously

Nobody in my mini league used theirs except me - there's 8 of us.

Therefore there's not as many dead teams as you'd think.

look at aguero's in and out stats last 4 weeks. not dropping much now. still selected by 7.7% I would estimate the dead teams percentage at around this. if team were gradually removed players would gradually drop, which would balance out well in theory.

Opinions on players getting a point for earning a penalty on top of the points for scoring that goal?

Seems a bit daft to me. So if Messi stayed on his feet and scored the more difficult way, he would have less points. Yet he gets given the chance to simply score from the spot and gets more points for it.

Not that I'm complaining. I'll take those Messi points.

If I want I can definetely field 11 in GW29 with no hits but I don't see the point in getting a GK in for one match and sub him out the next match and would prefer to keep my free transfers to start preparing for double game weeks.

A lot of English media hyped quadruple talk played to rest tonight.

The gulf in class was such that City tried to park the bus at home resorting to the long ball, or attempted counter attack whilst breaking up play with fouls.

Barca are dubbed boring for playing like they did.

Well what are City? Terrified and totally out of their depth?

English football just doesn't cut it even when played by foreign players and managers.

City's game was just a little too heady. They had to keep concentration levels high, because Barca will burn you (as happened), but it was just a little stifling overall. I hope they play with a bit more abandon on the return leg. Add Aguero, and it could be fun (though not that hopeful). Agreed with "Accounting on Chris" -- the 0-0 just let them down.

Hart, Kompany, Toure and Aguero are the only class that City have. Negredo is a big guy with no right foot. People saying he's a top striker are only saying it cos he's Spanish. Sturridge would run rings around him.

A good player, nit a very good player like Rooney in his prime or even better like Suarez who'll go and make things happen. Why would they struggle against a Barca team who coughed up chances ? Aguero would have punished them. If Negredo's so good why doesn't he score more away from home ?

70% to 30% possession is normal in all Barcelona games, even the ones they lose.

Barcelona when they are on form are unstoppable and have embarrassed even Real Madrid by beating them 5-0.

Get rid of Mirallas this gameweek, Koscielny the following gameweek and play 3-4-1 and save your other transfers for after GW29.

Does someone have a link to a post or can write a simple summary of blank gameweeks and double gameweeks that should be happening?

Barca can go on and score more goals than they actually do sometimes.

But they'd rather tiki taka forever and ever. Effective though..

Its so boring sometimes, but there's still no legitimate tactical response out there... so they stay disciplined and persist. They're so strong on defense though, as a team. It cripples opponents. Cesc was bullying Yaya Toure today, and Alvez out-muscled Kolarov. Its impressive.

I loved seeing Cesc dribble past Yaya, almost makes up for all of Yaya's jammy free-kicks this season....almost.

Should add that only 1 replay is scheduled - Man Utd v Man City in GW31

The most likely dates for all the other replays are GW31, GW34 and GW37

I'm pretty sure that there are European matches that GW, so it is unlikely but not impossible.

Obviously I cannot say for certain when the matches will be played but based on the fact that there is a rule that prevents domestic games during CL games, I would say the likely scenario is GW31, GW34 and GW37.

I'm not sure why people get fixated on copying the moves other posters suggest they will be going with in future gameweeks; then end up requesting feedback on the changes again themselves.

It looked good back when the original poster was advised to make the change; why would anything change now?

I'm typically against incendiary journalism and character attacks, but mercy me, is there no shame? I just heard in an interview with Christiano Rinaldo's bikini-model girlfriend in which she said that he keeps his Ballon d'Or trophy in a museum in Portugal... a museum dedicated to himself and his accomplishments that he curated and opened in his small island hometown. Yuck.
