There’s no getting away from it, Granville and I are nothing short of bitter middle aged, middle of the table Fantasy managers. This week’s ScoutCast is a vitriol-filled slab of double Gameweek failure, inspired by Yaya Toure’s relentless point scoring and our stubborn reluctance to recruit his talents.

Of course, in between skinning our sour grapes, Granville and I dabble with the podcast regulars, whilst responding to another round of community posers including a lookey-likey query that smiles kindly on my co-host and has me recounting the tale of my very own office doppleganger.

Wallow in self pity via this link or look on the bright side via the player below…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

The template team and where to find differentials

    Che defender, Eve defender
    Yaya, Hazard
    Suarez, Sturridge, Lukaku

These 7 players are virtually in every team, Evertons DGW and the form of the other players make this lot near on essential. So that leaves 4 other spots to find differentials. I believe that there is room to climb the ranks based on those 4 spots, you don't need to forgo the likes of SaS, Hazard or Yaya to make up ground imo.

I think a lot of people have given up on Aguero. I wouldn't consider him template anymore till he at least plays two games in a row.

But considering that, Aguero could be a nice acquisition as a lot of people will be weary at least early on.

Yeah and many will be priced out. I can't wait to get him back. Just like I did with my Jan WC when he returned for 44 minutes! He did score mind. I don't think they're rushing him this time. When he's back he's in my squad.

It reminds me of when SAR used to be a really good combination earlier in the season. Few could afford Aguero, Rooney and Suarez so those of us that had them did really well. Till Aguero got injured of course.

this is the possible beauty, i think a lot of people are tied to SAS and lukaku until after gw34 now, and also many have baines and coleman meaning they can't get barkley. aguero and barkley v yaya and lukaku could be a good battle

I like your thinking AB, using the template to your advantage. Sometimes the template can hamper the top sides and finding any nugget of weakness can really propel you up the ranks.

Yeah I've gone for a second Chelsea defender. Aguero could definitely shake things up a bit, particularly as it would require some serious finances. He might be too costly for some.

Yeah second Chelsea decent too. I also want some city defenders haha. Strange I feel like playing 6 at the back haha. Brought in Baines me and if I could get Aguero that really would be some power players that other teams couldnt afford

Its a really good time to play 4 at the back. Crickey, even 5 at the back wouldn't be a bad bet with just Hazard and Toure in the middle.

Repost lost at bottom of last page (sorry)

Which player this season have you had in your team that has done nowt for you whilst you have had him in your team and flourished every time you have got rid of that player?

For me Adebayor has been a major troll for me this season.Had him twice and got zero rewards yet as soon as he is out he explodes.

On the other hand i did get Jonny Evans for a short period of time and he immediately wrecked my head,he is the uber troll of FPL

    Mark/Granville.

We're well used to (& enjoy) the weekly miffeds...but complaining about not captaining Suarez or not owning Toure at this stage is totally ridiculous...come on, it's gameweek 32!
(Suarez had a DGW against two relegation teams for god's sake!)

If you assume a starting template of Yaya, Haz, Suarez and a couple of prem defenders...you still have 10 squad slots with which to explore differentials and make up ground.
Why take chances by ignoring the heavy hitters? (again!)

To use a poker term, I think you guys have gone "on tilt" and are making decisions that just completely nullify any ground gained when you do cash in on points from a well timed differential like Barkley/Eriksen/Nasri (to use this week as an example).

have to agree here, the justifications were a little thin....huge range of scores on here for ppl with 'template' players thus showing that differentiation can still be possible.............still its was more a cathartic outpouring and they prob feel better for it

I think its gotten to the point now where all reason has gone out the window.

Totally agree with your point. Getting in the key heavy hitters and going for differentials elsewhere is the way to go. How can you expect any other player to regularly outscore Suarez and Toure at this stage of the season.

Completely agree. I was listening to the podcast and thinking the same thing. There is plenty of opportunity to have fun with differentials while still ensuring you have the well owned heavy hitters covered. The likes of Suarez (c) and yaya stop you sliding, interesting differentials give you the chance of climbing- it's simple really.

I totally agree! They might argue (incorrectly) that its a bigger differential to go without Yaya or not captain Suarez, but it's clearly necessary to go with the biggest heavy hitters

What does everyone think about Cardiff's chances of staying up?

While they haven't been doing MUTCH recently, NOONE has a better run in until the end of the season.

However if Ole is going to MARSHALL his team to victory he will need to TURNER round their fortunes, and get them to score MOORE goals.

All i will say is the end of the season is going to be a CAULKER and if they can stay up it would be FABio and Ole would deserve a MEDEL.

He's put himself back in the box seat for sure, but that's not the same as playing three games so close together...and don't forget RM has already spoken about not wanting to over expose him to the pressures.

I've got Smalling, Mirallas, Sterling and Silva all with question marks and yet - weirdly for a hit addict like myself - I'm going to save my FT!

Silva > Nasri is tempting though. Good opportunity to swap horses if you were thinking about it anyway.

Dunno. I'll see what the news is on Silva. If he's confirmed out for long then I'll probably do that. If it's just this week I'll hold onto Silva and ride my luck this week. Good pick though, and I always love Nasri. I started last season with him and he went ballistic for the first 2/3 weeks.

I've got Silva and Yaya right now. I *think* I'm planning on Aguero, or at least laying the groundwork to make it possible to get him if he looks like a good call.

If I finally decide not to get Kun, I'll get Demichellis instead.

Good , you have kept that slot for Aguero ,
It was always my plan to do Silva > Aguero if you get me , ( have Zab/Yaya) I'm just wondering if I got the right news on Aguero avoiding Nasri getting say Lallana back and the funds are there ....

If we get news on Aguero , this will be a huge help .
We can shift funds around a little to suit , Pelle is normally good at press conf , so hopefully he will clear up silva / Aguero news

For everyone not listened the scoutcast still let me tell you what is about and save your time:

    Mark - I didn't captain Suarez πŸ™
Granville - Don't want to have Yoyo πŸ™

And both complaining about there scores and Granny wants to give up.

I say don't bother. Don't listen to it. No Yoyo and Suarez and now crying. You don't have to be Yoda to know that those 2 are sound choices. They are top scoring mids and forwards and have doubles. You don't have to be Scherlock.

Not really imo. Barkley is finding some nice form but if that drops off he could find his way on the bench again. In general there is a lot of rotation in the Everton midfield right now, just not enough upside trading Mirallas for Barkley.

You don't fancy my chances of beating him again then? You're probably right, but I was successful when we met in the FFS Cup 2nd round, and now I will be attempting to repeat the feat in the Elite64 1st round. Perhaps I was just lucky to catch him in the right game-week last time!

By the way, what was the safety score in LMS and how many are left in now? I thought my 154 (-4) might have stood a chance of surviving if you were only going to eliminate about 10 teams.

4 times I've seen it asked if Evra will be rested for Bayern. HE'S FECKING SUSPENDED. So he won't be rested, there's an argument to say Buttner should play to get him minutes before that. But conversely he could be left out to avoid the risk of injury

always think if you want to have fun, or play it your way, do so with your squad, not captaincy or core of key players. there are 11 spots worth of players, easily room for 1 or 2 punts. i dont get bored at all of captaining suarez, it's not every week, and even when it is you've got your 1 or 2 guys others dont have
