In our second members article of the week, we turn to our own ICT Index for inspiration. Assessing player performance for Influence, Creativity and Threat in accordance with the relevant Opta statistics, we create a Members table in order to analyse the top-scoring midfielders over the last four Gameweeks:

Probably more likely to tonev gets more game time or bacuna plays tip of the diamond like he did earlier in the season for a spell.

If Holt is fit he could prove an interesting differential

The ICT Index covers Influence - their contribution to a match, Creativity - their propensity to create chances or provide passes in attacking areas and Threat - their propensity to have efforts on goal, on target and in dangerous areas.

We use a formula to calculate all three based on some key stats and then add the total to come to the ICT rating. Influence is based on things like goals, assists, touches, passes completed, tackles etc - all with different weightings. It's the nearest thing to our version of the bonus points I guess.

Creativity uses key passes of course, but also passes in the final third, through-balls, crosses etc.

Threat uses shots on goal (no brainer) but we do give different weightings depending on where on the pitch those shots occurred and also whether they were on target.

Every player has a total for all three from every match and they are added up to give you the ICT rating for that match.

Sorry for the late reply Mark...family stuff...Right..so...I use the ICT threat, i add it to the touches in the box (not just shots)..and then try to keep the sum figure of that number as high as possible across the mids (DGW's not withstanding)....It works. So based on how you weight the ICT threat am I right to do this...I have posted before that it doesn't seem to work out when using shots in the box in that way, and obviously that must be because it's effectively doubling up the ICT threat...All a bit convoluted really, but does that make sense?...ICT threat + touches in the box always seems to = good pick

John Cena to beat Bray Wyatt at Wrestlemania is 4/1 with PP.
Strange odds. I'd pencil my prediction in at about 50/50 and most wrestling sites with predictions are about 60/40 in favour of Cena.
Just putting it out there for anybody who intends on watching WM and fancies a flutter.

It's 4/1 for a reason. PP probably follow the odds of a reliable source who will get results correct 95% of the time.

Yeah, I'm confident they have some kind of source.
WWE have been known to change plans in the run-up to WM though and 4/1 seems very generous. I'll probably put a tenner on it to spice up the watching.

I thinbk Belgium are over-rated in terms of tournament experience and perhaps some players are over-rated. Courtois, Kompany, Hazard, maybe Vertonghen are the real quality there. Benteke out, not convinced he's consistent enough anyway. Mirallas can let them down being greedy.

You're right about Italy. Skills, great defence and tournament experience

Belgium are decent crop of players, but we tend to over hype most in the PL, and they have many basic problems like their defense is basically 4 CBs..

Italy are the dark horses IMO, Juventus based miserly defense who all know each other plus Pirlo, De Rossi, Motta can really control games...

I've heard the 4 CBs argument too. Not sure how much that'll hinder them. I think it's because they play 'nice' football, will be interesting to see how they like being kicked which is bound to happen.

Italy will suffer by not having a top striker as will Spain by not having a striker who's in good form.

Aregentina will, unfortunately, fail by having a dodgy defence.

it's funny how things work in phases, first Belgium were the great fancied dark horse and now it has totally turned the other way for some because of all the attention they get. They are still a very good team, it's not just the PL players. Add in names like Witsel, Mertens, Alderweireld, Defour & Bakkali

I'm sorry I personally never bought that, the thing is while they're a good team they

            don't have any tournament experience
            don't have any full backs.

and while I think they have a good bunch of players there are just too many teams far better than then IMO..

They're all good ball players. But the best ball players don't always win tournaments. Dembele would be one of my favourite Belgian players. Can play a bit but also good defensive mid. I'd say the likes of himself, Kompany, Vertonghen, maybe Hazard who has toughened up under Mourinho can lead the team but I'd have no faith whatsoever in Kevin Mirallas. The rest will play for Belgium and Mirallas will play for Mirallas. Italy in 2006 had a few great players but a collective strength and knew how to get past each stage.

How many of the Belgian team are French and how many are Dutch?

On the tournament experience I don't really buy that as their U21 team got to the semis of Euro 2007, many of the current squad were involved. Also it's not essential for me anyway.
They don't have proper specialist fullbacks but the likes of Lombaerts, Alderweireld & Vertonghen are good there.
I don't think Belgium will win it but I can see them going pretty far with a nice draw. Certainly much better set up in every possible way than England.

On the split, difficult to say as I didn't know where they were all born, probably a few more are Flemish from those I know, than the Walloons, but there are also a few born elsewhere like Benteke etc..

De Guzman is a good move, especially in a couple of GWs time. My Gerrard to Eriksen move excites me as it a little away from template.

Hi Zan,my Solomon friend, mine isn't as exciting as yours but needed doing, got Ward in for Clyne who had started to troll my team for a few weeks, glad to have gotten rid.

Do like the De Guzman diff mate, could be a corker that.

        Hope you are well fella.

Solomons out in force tonight! I still have Chambers. I have decided to keep as he can either rot on my bench, or make an injury covering appearance and be my second highest scoring player of a miserable GW.

Dzeko in 2 games(liv,SUN) has a chance to outscore Sturridge(MCI) in one though.

An Aguero who struggled twice already this year to get matchfit after return from injury is too dodgy. No point risking him unless there's reports that he's tearing it up in training. Kun has one PL already. His main concern is being fit for Brazil.

I sense West Ham could do a job on Liverpool this week, plus the scousers must be due an 'off' day. Who are people opting to captain this week if not Suarez? What is your thought process behind it?

Fair enough. Just have a feeling as this good run has to end somewhere. Think big Sam will set up to try shut them out so I don't see a mauling. I really don't have another stand out option so will probably end up giving Luis the armband just wondered if anyone was looking seriously at an alternative this week

Morning gents. Do you think only 1 City player is mad for their first DGW?

If I decide not to get Aguero, I'm left with only Yaya. If I'm getting Kun the plan is Studge out for him.
      Say I drop Aguero, looking at different options;

Studge + AJ -> Dzeko + Silva next week (no hits).

This actually makes a bit of sense to me... get another DGWer... Dzeko has potential, but you're relying on them playing with 2 strikers in order for him to get some proper gametime. It's decent plan IF they go 4-4-2 when Aguero comes in this GW (I reckon he'll play some part).

If you want to go a slightly different route you could go with Nolan -> Barkley (if fit) and bench Snod for the DGW. I'd probably go with the boring Noone/Delph instead though 🙂

Cheers Dogba. Anyone of £4.8m and under would allow me to bring in Silva and Kun (for Gerrard and Studge)... but only if Kun proves his fitness. Wondering about Ki - not as good form but 2 DGWs in there.

Would love to bring in Kompany/Zaba for Distin, but just seems a waste of a City player if the alternative is Silva/Kun...

Wow, you're in a great position then I'd say. Gerrard & Sturridge -> Silva & Aguero next GW for free is music to any FPL-ers' ears.

Ki's had a couple of cameos lately, I'd prefer someone nailed I think. Playing Snod in GW34 is not a bad option really.

I'd wait for news on Noone, if he's fit I'd get him. Some attacking threat and the cheapest real option.

And I think you are dead right on ignoring City defense in order to get attacking assets instead. Distin is a very solid pick for GW34.
